The Little Vacuum That Could
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: light, maneuverable, great suction, hard floor/carpet setting, useful attachments Cons: no headlight, relatively short and stiff hose. I’ve inherited my family’s Kirby Generation 3 that we’ve had since the late 1980’s. It’s a great vacuum and modular, but can be a gorilla to steer. We changed our floors from carpet to hardwood, tile and area rugs, so we don’t have much carpet to vacuum and that’s where the Kirby really shines. It relies on forming a partial seal with the floor surface and that quite doesn’t happen with bare floors. We’ve been getting by with a Eureka Quickup. Without having to look it up, think: Dustbuster on a stick with a handle. Suffice it to say, the Kirby got relegated to vacuuming the car floors and mats in the garage (with hose attachment). Enter the Shark Navigator Lift-Away. The Shark is lightweight, nimble, maneuverable and modular. Suction is strong and a night and difference after using my dustbuster on a stick. I really like is the namesake feature of this little guy: Lift-Away. You can detach the main body from the brush roller assembly and tote it around like a canister vacuum of sorts. Pulling the handle out from the body to have a wand for hard to reach areas is pretty standard these days, but much like other vacuums I tried that has this feature, the hose is relatively short. and stiff so you can’t wander far from the vacuum as you can with canister vacuum or even a kirby with the hose attachment installed. Getting too far will case the vacuum to tip over. I think it’s best to tote the lightweight detached vacuum body when using the hose with attachments for extended use. Even still, for a quick changing modular vacuum, I’m willing to compromise that as a trade off. Suction is more than adequate for my two story house with bare floors. I also like that there’s a brush roller speed setting for carpets (increased the velocity). Normal speed is perfect for bare floors and smaller rugs like bath mats. For larger area rugs, the extra speed in the carpet setting really agitates the pile and coaxes dust and debris out more effectively. The other minor niggle I have with the Shark Navigator Lift-Away is the lack of a headlight. l don’t see many modern vacuums with a headlight and it’s a pity that they aren’t designed with them. It’s very useful in dark nooks and crannies. Other than that, I find the Shark Navigator an overall well designed product and and absolute joy to use

Good Vacuum for the Price
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.overall good vacuum. The only thing my wife did not like was that there is no retractable cord option. Other than that, the vacuum works great. I do like that there is a power switch position that prevents the brush from turning. That is great for hard floors.

Surprisingly nice vacuum
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've never owned a shark vacuum but heard good things so figured it was worth a try. This thing is priced well below some of the other top brand/models so how does it compare? Well the build is nice and sturdy and I had no issues putting it together. Everything just snaps together. Comes with a few extra extensions as well like most upright vacuums. I use this on hardwood floors and carpet. The only vacuum I can compare this to is my older upright Dyson. Below is a list of pros and cons based on comparison and usage. -Pros Nice build quality Has swivel Fluffed carpet better Smaller so lighter Was able to get under furniture another 4 inches Don't have to bend down as much to change floor settings Not as noisy Had no issue picking up pet hair -Cons Shorter cord Suction was a bit weaker Didn't pick up bigger items Smaller bin so needed to empty after each use Extra extensions don't attach to the side for storage Some long hair did get stuck around spinning brush In the end this is a nice sized vacuum. It does what its supposed to do and does it very well.
