This Purifier is simply perfect for someone who just set up a HomeLab with numerous computers and doggies that like to shed fur all over the place. This fits exactly right in the general area with the networking/HomeLab computers and the kids Xboxes and helps keep the air clean in there and I am looking forward to it in the Spring when the oak pollen coats everything yellow as well. The 650 Sq. ft are perfect for the room and it is not overly loud, at least compared to everything else going on in the room. I do have it placed next to Rack/HomeLab equipment for maximum get the dust before it gets into the computers. You will have to take out the pre-filters and give them a vacuum now and then, but that isn't so bad considering that it should help extend the life of the Hepa filter out a number of years (up to five years per Shark) which can be a nice savings overall. It has a little scent puck that if you want to mask scents you can use and refill as if you find it useful. I typically don't mind, so I'm not worried about it. I also appreciate this device does not need an App to configure and run, you do it old school which is a huge plus these days, as who wants to configure more things onto their network to just set it and walk away. Overall the short time I've had this I've been very happy with the results.

I've had lots of air purifiers and this Shark might be my new favorite. It doesn't connect to wifi or have any crazy smart features but it instead focuses on doing what it is supposed to do really well, purify the air. This Shark air purifier is dead simple to use, take it out of the box and turn it on. It has a display to show you the quality of your air and several speeds and an automatic setting to make things even easier. It also includes a deodorizer puck that you can adjust the level. I find the scent very suttle and clean. If you like it you can turn the smell up and if you don't you can turn it completely off, great flexibility. The biggest feature of this unit is the filter, which supposedly lasts vastly longer than a traditional HEPA filter. I haven't had it long enough to validate this but so far I love what it does and it will for sure be a main stay in our house. As far as sound goes, it is relatively quiet most of the time. I really only notice it when it kicks into high gear after we cook or something. Even then it's only loud enough for us to say, where is that sound coming from? Overall this is a very well built and Effective air purifier. Very easy to use with little setup. Would highly recommend.

This air purifier is small, quiet and effective. Being the owner of a larger Shark air purifier, that I use in my living room, I jumped at getting this smaller one for my office. The controls are pretty much the same and very simple to use - and the behavior is just like its bigger sibling. Keeping the unit on the "Auto" setting means I don't have to worry about it, and the large readout and status ring for the air quality means I can see it from anywhere in the room. And this unit does indeed work: It picked up the cooking from downstairs and even "complained" about the paint smell. No problem...it kicked into high gear and worked extra hard to restore the air quality back to 100% in no time. While it was heavily active, the fan got loud and indeed noticeable; but once it returned to good air quality, things settled down to the point where I couldn't hear it anymore. This is fantastic. This unit also comes with an "odor neutralizer," which is essentially an air freshener module that you can refill. It works great at keeping my office smelling fresh and pleasant - and additional cartridges are available in a variety of scents.

This air purifier is a total disappointment. It's constantly glowing red, which is supposed to indicate poor air quality. The thing is, the air doesn't feel any cleaner, even after running it for hours. It just sits there, glowing ominously and collecting dust itself. Honestly, I feel like I wasted my money on this thing!

      Hi Jen,

We’re sorry to hear that your Shark NeverChange Air Purifier hasn’t met your expectations and that the air quality indicator remains red despite extended use. We understand how frustrating it must be to feel like it’s not making a noticeable difference.

The persistent red light could indicate that the sensor needs to be cleaned, as dust buildup can sometimes affect readings. Gently wiping the sensor with a dry cloth may help reset the air quality detection. Running the purifier on a higher fan speed for a period of time could also help circulate and filter the air more efficiently.

If the issue persists, our support team would be happy to assist with troubleshooting or discuss possible solutions. Please reach out to us at 1-855-427-5127, and we’d be glad to help.

Great little air purifier for medium sized rooms

I have always loved having an air purifier in my house, but I never kept them around because I hated spending tons of money replacing filters every 3-6 months. I was very intrigues when I saw this one that claims you could possibly not have to change a filter for 5 years! Out of the box it’s a very stylish looking device that would easily fit in with most households. I got the black one which easily disappears and after a few days you do not even really notice its there. It appears to be a very solid and well-made air purifier. The display and control panel are on top. There are 2 screen type filters on each side that you can pull out and easily wipe clean. The main HEPA filter is accessed by unscrewing the bottom of the unit. The controls are very easy to use. I think most people will find the auto setting to work just fine for them. The unit will constantly monitor the air quality and adjust the fan level based on the quality of air. IF you want to do manual mode, you can do that as well. There are separate settings for the fan level and even a timer if you don’t want it to constantly run. On the front of the unit there is also a large display which shows information about your air quality. You can switch it to show the different types of particles in the air, or you can just leave it on the default which gives you a percentage of how your overall air quality is. It will also show if your filters need to be cleaned or changed. There is also a spot on the top to put in one of the Shark Odor Neutralizer pods which essentially are like an air freshener that gets blown out while the fan is running. They suggest changing these every 6 months or so. They seem to be readily available and are inexpensive. This isn’t something you have to use with the unit though if you don’t want that smell. For my purposes I just left the unit on auto and let it do its thing. When I first plugged it in the fan went on high and it said my air quality was at 67%. Eventually the fan slowed down and the display showed my air quality was at 100%. After that my air quality stayed in the high 90% to 100% range. After a couple days I was wondering if this thing was actually working at all? Then I burned some toast in the toaster. Immediately this think kicked into high gear, the circle display on the front turned red and said my air quality had dropped to 53%. The fan was on high and it remained that way for about a half hour till the burned toast smell in the room was pretty much gone. It was then that I knew this thing really worked! This is one of those things that will improve your life, but most of the time you wont even know its there. I can’t say I really feel the air is cleaner or anything like that, but when you do any cooking or anything like that, you can tell that this thing works by removing the smells and things from the air. I have to say, for now, I’m sold on it! I can’t comment on how long the filter actually lasts as I have only had it for a couple weeks now. But I am hoping I can at least get a few years out of it before having to change the filter. For now, I am very satisfied and would definitely recommend giving this a try if you are looking for an air purifier that you don’t have to constantly buy expensive filters for!

    Refreshing!

Refreshing is what comes to mind with this air purifier. Also peace of mind knowing that you won’t have to change the filter very often. They’re saying it protects up to five years so only time will tell. But it’s very refreshing due to what Shark calls odor neutralizer technology. There is a disk included that’s inserted directly into the air purifier that delivers a pleasant scent. I absolutely love it. I’ve had it for almost two weeks and it’s still going strong. That’s just one of the great things about this air purifier. It also includes an anti allergen Hepa air filter that Shark says won’t need replace for years. And this is based on operating 12 hours daily! Considering the cost of filter replacement for similar air purifiers this is a great feature. It’s easily removable and washable. Another feature is automatic adjustment. This air purifier automatically adjusts to the level of air quality in your home. I had it on while cooking and it immediately adjusted the fan due to a bit of smoke. The LED screen on the front displays the percentage of clean air while it’s cleaning. I love the size of it as well. You can place it on a table top or on the floor. My only drawback is the way it only blows filtered air from two sides of the top and not the entire circle. But that’s very minor. I would recommend this product due to its affordability and function.

While it is difficult to review the "never change" claim of this air purifier, I have been a staunch supporter of Ninja/Shark products over the years for their quality and reliability. First item of note is that this air purifier is VERY QUIET. We use it (650 sq ft model) primarily in a basement work environment where odors and dust can accumulate. The 5yr filter means we shouldn't need to worry about this air filter for quite some time. Our previous room air purifier was requesting new filters every 3 months at a rather steep cost. The operation is very simple (please pay attention when unboxing as there are many parts that need to have plastic coatings/tap/bags removed from them): Turn it on, walk away. [Auto mode--or Clean Sense IQ--is set by default.] The color-coded ring is a great way to quickly catch air quality with BLUE suggesting the air quality is great, YELLOW suggesting the air quality is fair and RED suggesting you have significant particulate matter in your air. You can control the fan speed if you prefer and schedule an auto-off timer. Additionally, you can control the brightness of the air purifier's display screen, turn on a "child lock," and get various technical readouts of particulate matter detected in your room. The "dust filter life" will let you know if you have to perform any maintenance to the removeable mesh screens that trap larger particulate matter that can be vacuumed off the mesh screens are washed with water. The only feature I do not care for with this air purifier is the "odor neutralizer" (aka "Glade Plug-in") as I am sensitive to smell of chemical air fresheners. After one day of use, I opted to remove the odor neutralizer from the device. To verify the device was actually doing something, we did spray a couple chemicals in the vicinity of the device and noticed a change in readings almost immediately. Overall, I am very satisfied. I like that there is some maintenance I can perform myself (i.e. cleaning of screens when the device prompts), I love how quiet it is in auto mode. ECO mode is a great option to extend the life of the filter. I do NOT need to install an app to operate the device. I do NOT need to use the "odor neutralizer."

    NeverChange Air Purifier

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is the second large-area air purifier I've owned, but the first "dumb" one. The previous one was a more technologically advanced (and app supported) air purifier that had way more bells and whistles (and cost more money) than this one. While I can appreciate the ease of checking the air quality (and more) in my apartment (and my neighborhood!) from say, work or vacation, I don't really have much need for it, and was looking for a replacement with a smaller physical footprint. Along with the bells and whistles of that fancier, more expensive air purifier, also came a replaceable filter that cost $$$ that I had to change at least once per year. Enter this Shark air purifier. It does just that - purifies your air. No price inflating extra features like humidity monitoring, app/wifi controls, replaceable filters, etc. This Shark air purifier does exactly what I need - purify the air in my apartment - and nothing more. There is an optional odor neutralizer (which actually seems like it is more like an air freshener, not an odor neutralizer, but it's the same idea), but honestly even sitting right next to it, I don't notice a difference, and would rather use other methods like wall plug-ins or diffusers for odor neutralization. I have it right next to my desk, and I can't really even tell it is there - there is no sound, and only a very, very, very slight flow of colder air that comes out of it that you really can only feel if you hover your hand over the top of the machine (that is welcome, even during the winter in Chicago!). Honestly, I struggled coming up with any cons for this item. I guess if I had to choose something, it's that there is no good way to carry it, if needed, but really once you set it up you wouldn't need to be moving around a lot, anyway, since you won't have to change a filter in it!

    Impressive air movement

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The first few days the reporting showed between 80-100% on the display screen. This is a fairly open room without a door so the actual square footage could be considered varying depending on air flow in the house. After the first couple days I am seeing it sitting between 95-100%. It seems like the AC/heat kicking on affects the readout, probably since the air movement is kicked up at those times causing dust, pollen, dander, etc to be stirred more than normal. Initial setup was pretty easy but I thought something was missing from the unit. I'll walk through my experience and hopefully save you some confusion. First thing after opening the box flip the unit upside down and open the bottom of the unit. Inside the cove is a large air filter wrapped in plastic. Remove the plastic and replace the filter inside the unit. Make sure the cover closed securely. Remove any plastic and tape on the outside of the unit. They are generally easy to find but make sure they are all removed. I went over the unit twice to make sure I did not miss any, which I still did. There are small cloth tabs on the filter to help remove once out of the plastic. The third thing I did was remove the external filers on the side of the unit. These will need to be cleaned every couple months, maybe more depending on your environment. They are just screens that seem to catch the larger particles and dust. When you do clean them, make sure to power off the unit so the internal filter does not get bombarded during the process. The last thing you will notice following the instructions is the dial on the top of the unit. You will also notice there is not one. If you look through the packaged materials there is a sealed silver bag. The dial is actually an 'air freshener' that can be replaced if need be, this is called a Shark Odor Neutralizer cartridge and looks to be the same as they use with their vacuums. The instructions did not clearly cover this little aspect. I have not looked to see how much replacements are, but I am sure they will be available for purchase to allow a little ongoing cash flow over the 5 years you don't buy filters. A quick search shows they cost up to $15 at most retailers. This does not seem to be a required part. The air flow through this is pretty impressive, standing near it you can feel a gentle breeze. It really seems to be doing a great job and is very quiet. Dust and pollen usually affect me pretty badly, being in Florida there are plenty of things that set off allergies. This seems to make my home office a little more enjoyable and my sinuses and sneezing fits seem to have reduced considerably.

A good air purifier but a little misleading

In this day and age of pandemics and poor air quality, I feel like air purifiers have become very important. The Shark NeverChange Air Purifier is a good air purifier. The NeverChange in the title but claiming 5 year filter life is somewhat misleading. Out of the box, I would say I have always liked the design of Shark products. They honestly all have a characteristic "Shark" look in my opinion. It looks fairly nice and premium. The front display is crisp and makes it look more modern in my opinion. These are pretty common to see in air purifiers these days. The information is pretty standard: air quality, particle count, fan speed, etc. You can toggle between them using the touch controls on top. I just left it in auto mode which adjusts fan speed based on air quality. The Shark works well in my opinion. It does seem to crank up after I have cooked something, left window open, etc. It is not excessively loud once the air quality is good but when it cranks up it is noticeable. The "odor neutralizing" is just that it releases it's own air freshener scent. I did not care for it too much. It was fairly strong and has a chemical scent. You have to keep buying the tabs as well. Shark tries to extend the life of its HEPA filter by utilizing three layers before the HEPA. This works well and the outer layer is able to be cleaned freely. Cleaning these will also likely increase the life of the HEPA filter. By the way, the fine print of the 5 year claim includes "up to" so be aware of that. It is too new to be able to state definitively how long it will last in real world use but I suspect it will not. All in all, I like the Shark NeverChange Air Purifier and really hope it lasts 5 years!

Shark NeverChange Air Purifier So I received my new Shark NeverChange Air Purifier about a week ago and have putting it through its paces. I could not have been more excited and impressed by any other air purifier ever before. This thing is simply amazing and very easy to use. Upon unboxing it you with find the Shark NeverChange Air Purifier, a Shark Odor Control Neutralizer Cartridge, and the user manual. This is something that I have noticed in other Shark products such as their vacuums. To get started, make sure you open the bottom of the air purifier and remove the plastic around the filter. Pop the filter back in and secure the bottom cover and insert the odor neutralizer cartridge on top and you’re ready to go. You can adjust the fragrance it gives off but lifting the small handle and turning it to decrease or increase how much you want it to put out. On the sides of the air purifier are 2 Debris Defense Filters one on each side. These are already installed and all you need to do is pop them out and rinse/vacuum them off every so often just like the main filter. Just remove it from the bottom and clean it vacuuming to keep your air purifier in peak performance. I love that Shark created this because air filters can cost upwards of $80+ per year. Shark’s claim of 5 years of never having to change the filter is an amazing claim but as long as you take care of your air purifier it may last even longer. On front of the air purifier is the information display that will inform you how clean your surrounding air quality is. On the top you will find the control panel touch buttons and their functions: * On/Off Button * Auto Mode Button * Fan Speed * Air Info * Shut-Off Timer * Brightness * Dust Filter Life * Child Lock This has been a joy to use over the last week. It really works and cleans and purifies the air in your home. Best use so far has been in the kitchen for when we’re preparing meals and you have those lingering cooking smells. But it is also helpful when using different cleaning chemicals around the house or when you just want to clean the air around you.

I would recommend this to a friend
