Customers are saying

Customers frequently mention the microwave's large size and ease of use as significant advantages. Many appreciate its powerful performance and the variety of features it offers, while some users note that the timer could be improved and that the door's design presents minor challenges. The stainless steel finish, while aesthetically pleasing to some, is prone to showing fingerprints. Overall, the microwave receives positive feedback for its cooking capabilities and value for the price.

Sharp has been my go to brand for microwaves. Works great. Lots of options. Roomy inside for larger items.

When we had to purchase a new microwave we needed one with a large interior and this one definitely measures up. Our issue is that we should've checked the wattage further before purchasing. This unit has about 2/3 the power of our last microwave and it's been hard to get used to. Everything else about it has been great and it's a wonderful size with lots of great functions. Would recommend it!

    Beautiful, HUGE, and Fast Microwave.

This is a beautiful microwave. The controls are simple to understand. It is simple to clean. It is so HUGE that it can cook or heat even a turkey, at least warm it up. Cleaning the stainless steel is easy. However, the surface can scratch easily if you are not careful. I have this next to the sink and thanks to the stainless steel, nothing happens to the finish because of the water and dirt splashing.

Bought this with some RZ cert so the price I paid was alright. It has many features, so far so good. I only want to complain about the buttons. It's been only a couple months and the plastic on the buttons already start wearing off. Very cheaply made. Besides the cosmetic issues, so far it's been functioning like it's supposed to. But for the price I think I can get something else better.

Good product. has some good features like the butter button. it melts the butter without it splattering all over the microwave. Big size. the 0 key is in a weird place but other then that it seems to be working great in my house.

Fails just out of warranty, as designed.

Previous Sharp Carousel Convection microwave lasted for over 17 years before failure. Upon failing, without hesitation, I marched into best buy and asked for their nices Sharp microwave and was given this. Today, just a big after the 1 year warranty, it is completely dead with no lights. I am being told, like others that this is non serviceable and to throw it out and buy a new one. At some point, the quality fell by the wayside and we are left with another substandard product that is built to fail rather than last. Very disappointing.

    Sharp has gone done hill.....sad

I bought this oven for one reason and one reason only.....my prior Sharp microwave worked well and I was quite satisfied with it. It failed after 5 years. Since I was happy with the last Sharp, I thought this would be similar. No such luck. I am certainly glad I purchased the extended warranty from Best Buy and highly recommend it to all. After 6 months, the turntable motor started to make noise indicating a total failure of the motor was in the future. Though i used it since May of 2017 and it was now November, Best Buy took it back without a hesitation and they could not have been nicer or more helpful. Other features I hated about this oven were the buttons....not very readable. Also, my old Sharp had a button for defrosting frozen muffins that worked perfectly for bagels. After 6 months, I could still not figure out which setting/button, etc. was perfect for defrosting a frozen bagel. I actually contacted Sharp to ask for a simple recommendation as to exactly how a bagel should be defrosted. I don't think the person I spoke to knew what a bagel was. She kept telling me to read the manual. Not a satisfying experience. Defrosting a frozen hamburger caused one to burn to a crisp. Thus, I was unhappy with the design and the way it worked. I returned it and paid extra for a Panasonic. Stay tuned and we'll see how that works out. Again, only purchase your appliances from Best Buy and be sure to buy that extended service contract because products today are not made very well. I have owned a microwave oven since the late 70;s and never had a turntable fail in the past.

    Disappointed--Didn't even last 2 years

My previous Sharp carousel lasted 28 years with almost daily use. So when it finally died a couple of years ago, the obvious choice was another Sharp carousel. Well they sure don't make them like they used to. This one was used infrequently, and still looks brand new insde, but it's now arcing even when running empty. It's a shame, because it cooked well. Since I don't enjoy having lightning storms inside my house, I guess it's time again to search for a reliable microwave. Sadly, it appears the next one won't be a Sharp.

    Worst Microwave I've Ever Owned

First one lasted a year before keypad / internal problems made it useless. Second replacement from Sharp lasted another year. My two previous microwaves were Panasonic and each lasted around 10 years. Avoid this model like the plague.

    So angry!

The ONE thing I asked of the salesman was "Can I disable the audible signals?" I was told, "Yes, the Sharps and ....(some other brand) have that option". I have had this Sharp Model R651ZS for 5 hours now and I hate it! I want a microwave just like my 17 year-old Sharp Model R-51OC that was still working fine except for the latch/start. I kept the audible signal turned OFF. Nobody wants to hear those annoying beeps for every push of a button and in triplicate when the cooking stops! I had only to press the number buttons and push start to heat something. This un-user-friendly paperweight requires " push this, then that, then start"........AWGH!!! It was in a box at Best Buy. There was not one on display, nor an operation manual, to be looked at BEFORE purchasing it and bringing it 60 miles home, unloading it, removing old microwave, installing this unit, and trying to make sense of the "express cook", "one-touch cook", "+30 sec", "sensor settings". Did I mention I HATE IT!.Would someone please come pick this thing up and refund my money? I would not have purchased it had I known it was SO completely counter-intuitive to operate and so opposite of my first Sharp Microwave Oven.

The microwave was great while it lasted but please don't expect to have longevity with it. We bought ours in August 2012 and it unexpectedly died today for no apparent reason. This is our second Sharp microwave. The first lasted 4 years and now this one is shorter than that. I am usually a fan of Sharp products but it may be time to try something else. I am extremely disappointed about this.

    Who designed this awful thing?

I had a Panasonic large capacity 2.2 cu. for 8 years. When it broke I decided to try this Sharp large capacity. (I never should have messed with a good thing!) Disappointed as soon as I opened the box of this Sharp microwave. First of all - in what universe does a numeric keypad appear like it does on this oven? When is the "0" not at the bottom of the other 9 numbers? The "0" is off to the right of the #6! What? Everyone in the family agreed that our fingers are just programmed to find the "0" at the bottom of a keypad - not off to the right side. Just stupidity. (I dare you to notice that oddity in the picture of the microwave that is on the website. Who would even think to look at someting like that?) The oven also makes such loud noise and humming that I felt like I was in an MRI machine every time I used it. And although the stainless steel is pretty to look at - it showed every lousy fingerprint. Returned it in less than a week after we agreed that no one in the family was "warming up" to this freakish machine. Hello Panasonic...I'm buying another one of those. Best Buy was great about the transaction...returned it with no problem for a full refund and I purchased the new "less expensive" Panasonic model.

Purchased the microwave on February 17, 2013 and it died on August 21, 2014. It was a great quality piece until it stopped working at all. The only down side it if I ran it on partially power the cabinet would rattle and vibrate rather obnoxiously and with quite a bit of noise. You couldn't be in the kitchen when and talk on the phone when this would happen. The pluses are it cooked evenly and well when it was working. The layout of the buttons is very convenient where you could almost operate it in the dark. This is what sold me on the sharp other than we have a 25 year old one from college days that still works. I'd recommend this microwave with the caveat being it may only last 18 months all the other features are really nice.

First, this is not a review on Best Buy as I have no issues with the Store. The 1st Sharp lasted less than a year..started arking...the current one a full replacement from Sharp for the one above has lasted just at 2 yrs. They are not replacing but giving a newer full-size model at a reduced price of $109..which I thought and tried to get a full replacement again...but no deal. Don't know what the issue is with their microwaves or could be just the full-size models. Not Happy...if this one goes out quickly, I will change to a different manufacturer and kick Sharp to the curb.

Very disappointed in this product. 14 months of normal home use and the microwave developed an electrical glitch. Powers off abruptly, pops back on occasionally. Very undependable. Never had a microwave die in less time. Nevermore...

For the first 8 months, it worked great...no problems at all. At least it was still under warranty when it suddenly "died"??? Easy to use and easy to keep clean. The turntable is very large which can come in handy. Sharp customer service told us to return it to Best Buy for a replacement. Hopefully, we were just unlucky and our replacement microwave will be more reliable for us and we will not have to go through this hassle again.

I purchased this Sharp Carousel because I had one for about 15 years and the heating element went south. Repairs costly so I went to purchase a new one. The new one was installed and on the first use, condensation within the glass door was so heavy you could not see into the microwave. The sound was, of course, not the solid sound of my previous microwave. I returned the microwave the next day and there was still condensation within the glass.

We've had this a year now and have had no problems. We love the large capacity. This replaced a 35-year-old Amana that we could no longer get parts for (keypad--the magnetron was still going strong). We hope to get several years out of this Sharp. Even the Amana required some modest repair in that 35 years.

this is a large size microwave and has great power--1200 watts--it does simple thing like boil water or reheat coffee in 1/4 less time than my old 1000 watt one--heats frozen foods evenly and all the way thru the middle in the time given on the packages--it's a really great microwave
