Sharp: not what it use to be
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Narrowed down my chooses between Sharp Model: R651ZS and the LG model : LCRT2010ST Similar features and price Decided on the Sharp model mainly because my previous microwave was also a Sharp and had lasted 27 years and still worked but was looking it's age, .and also didn't like the dark interior of the LG Removed microwave from box only to find it damaged, it was dented, scratches, and.door would not close. Put it back in the box and returned it to bestbuy for an exchange with no problem. When I went to get an replacement off the shelf I noticed the display model had a large dent on the top of it, and looking further how it was constructed, I realized how flimsy the outer shell of this microwave was. This microwave maybe a good functioning product but the way it appears to be built is nothing like my previous Sharp microwave. So I decided not to get this, but to get a Panasonic Model: N-H965WF. I hope this one lasts !!

The new unit is a R-651ZS which replaces the R530EST. I have 2 complaints: 1) can't enter a specific time for example 24 seconds. only 30 second granularity. WHY?? 2) I need to buy a new $200 trim kit (model RK-52S27) because the unit is ~ .5 inches bigger.

I purchased this microwave because it had the size and features I wanted. I bought it on Dec 12 2012, it died on Dec 12 2014. There was no other problems at all, it just quit. Up until then it worked flawlessly. I think it should have lasted more than 2 years, it was never mistreated and it still looks brand new.

Three Years

However, after three years, the oven starting shutting off while cooking and has been getting progressively worse. I'll contact Sharp customer service and update this review to report how willing they were to make this right us.

After two years this thing started crackling and flickering and that was it. Buy a couple of years of extended warranty because you have to go into it expecting that you'll need to replace in a few years. Otherwise, it was fine and functional (except for the baked potato setting).

Very frustrating bringing home the microwave we were hoping had met our specifications only to find that we had to return it. We didn't even plug it in. If the door can't stay closed, what good is it.

Not happy with this product
