Does Everything a Microwave Should Very Well
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I found this microwave to be easy to set up and use. You should know that the oven requires a clearance of at least 3 inches to any surrounding walls and 12 inches above the oven for the intake and outlet vents. Therefore, this oven may not be the right choice for inserting into a cubicle space without that clearance. It is meant to sit on a counter, which is what I wanted. I plugged it in, and it was ready to go. Note that the oven is not at all heavy, so I would not perch it close to the edge of a counter and definitely not run the cord in a way that someone might accidentally snag the cord, for that could easily pull the oven off of the counter surface. The clock was easy to set and the controls easy to read and understand. Any questions I had were answered by the thorough operation manual that came with it. The controls included features that are standard on any microwave: presets for things like potato, vegetable, frozen entrée, and the all-important popcorn. There are auto defrost settings for meat, poultry, and fish. A somewhat unique feature that I like is melt/soften for butter, chocolate, ice cream, and cheese. For all these choices, you press a button (sometimes repeatedly to scroll through options) and indicate a weight. Even the popcorn had a weight choice of 1.75, 3.0, or 3.5 ounces. The 3.0 setting popped my 2.9-ounce popcorn perfectly. The oven also baked a potato to perfection by sensing the potato and choosing the timing. You can also use the first six number buttons to quickly choose that number of minutes, for example pressing "3" to cook oatmeal for 3 minutes. You can quickly add 30 seconds to any cooking time each time you press Start again. The full power of the microwave is 1200 watts, and that can be reduced in 10% increments down to 0% of full power. I did not test what happens at 0%, but I did cook a dish whose instructions called for a certain amount of time at 1100 watts, so I checked what 90% of 1200 was (it is 1080) and cooked at that power level. The food came out perfectly. The only issue I had was with the unique and intriguing soften/melt feature. I tried using this to melt a slice of cheese on a piece of toast, and it worked great. A grilled cheese sandwich without all the oil from stove cooking. But when I wanted to simply soften a stick of butter out of the refrigerator, I found no way to choose between soften and melt. The only choices were between 3.5 ounces and 7 ounces, which are odd choices given that a full stick of butter is 4 ounces. I chose the 3.5 ounce setting and pressed start to see what happened. Very near the end of the time, the entire stick suddenly melted to liquid. Apparently, it is up to you to stop the process somewhere along the way if you want to simply soften rather than melt the butter. I don't like a lot of noise while I am cooking, so I was happy to find that the oven runs very quietly, much more so than my old oven. You can also easily turn off the beeping that occurs with button pressing and the end of cooking if you want even more quiet. I am very pleased with the operation of this microwave, and I can recommend it without reservation.

Decent microwave. Poor support

Two Units Failing/Failed within Two Years
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m on my second one of these. The first went belly-up after 18 months. I had bought the extended warranty, so received a replacement. Now that one is throwing an intermittent error code E8 (bad circuit), which is what the first one had. I assume this one will die completely at some point near term. Again I bought extended coverage, so will again receive a replacement. But it’s a real nosebleed to lug the thing back to BB. Unless you like heavy lifting, avoid this lemon.

Positive discovery in the microwave world
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s clear to me that a Sharp microwave is a great option if you are in search of this type of appliance. I have had two major moments with the usage over the last week of this microwave. 1.- How wrong I was thinking that all microwaves are similar and can deliver the same functionality. It is obvious that the new technology reached those appliances and the option of an Inverter, is more than a word in the name but a major progress to be sure that the food is cooked evenly. 2.- In some cases, and this is one, the right combination of preset foods and sensor cooking technology is a major help for all home users. No more excuses for the 13 y-o in the house about not knowing the cooking times, this is better than mum and is called smart cooking settings with sensors. What I love about my microwave is: The aesthetics in the kitchen countertop. The stainless steel with black lines in the is great. Easy to clean. Easy to use with all the preset options. One of my favorites is the defrosts. I was intentionally looking for the 2.2 c.u that is bigger than the average model but is the right size for serving a family of four. The newly discovered (by me) inverter technology delivers consistent power over all the food and eliminates the different cooking areas. The big test is a chicken breast, in other previous microwaves I use to be forced to turn or to cut the breast because the microwave waves (and heat) were not delivered consistently. Now the breast is evenly cooked. The power: is 1.200 watts which is more noticeable for reducing cooking time in fast reheats or small quantities. Silent operation and functioning. Very quiet!. Shap is a great brand and one year guarantee is standard (I wish for 2). I like and I recommend it to anyone.

Very Impressed
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am really happy that I decided to try out a new microwave as I have used the same one for several years now, from back before the inverter feature became a popular feature. I have been really pleased with how much better my food comes out versus the older unit. I have to admit that I haven't cooked complicated meals in the past and do not plan on going some kind of gourmet, especially when one practically needs a degree in manual reading to figure out all the buttons needed to push in just the right order. I been mostly sticking with reheats, frozen meals & softening butter, simply guessing based on past experiences rather than mastering the manual. I would rather use my time researching and experimenting with new recipes. I love cooking.I was pleased that this microwave by Sharp has clearly written, well organized and short but precise instructions. So I actually read it all, and for now they are sitting next to the oven for learning new options when needed. I probably will need to learn how to use all the whistles this oven comes with, like melting versus softening butter and chocolates. I will be experimenting with my new smart microwave, testing it's 'brain' and will update you with my experiences. Soo far I do love this Sharp Carousel 2266HS microwave and am looking to use it fully. It has soo far been just the right size, cooks quicker than any other unit I have had in the past, is extremely powerful and I love the inverter feature as well as the sleek stainless & black look. Hopefully I will get many years to enjoy my new microwave without headaches and I won't need the warranty in any way. That's my hope. I will write an update after I have had some time to get to know my Sharp new microwave.

Excellent microwave for larger jobs
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've come to realize that a good microwave is kind of like a good window - if it's doing its job, you shouldn't be able to notice it's there. And this microwave from Sharp certainly lives up to that concept. It offers powerful, effective cooking in a highly unassuming package. First thing I think you should be aware of if you're looking at this is that this is a very BIG microwave, easily large enough to fit a whole chicken inside. It will definitely take up a huge chunk of the countertop. It is not, however, a particularly heavy one. I feel like this is the kind of unit that's really optimized for in-wall mounting, as it was sliding everywhere on my counter any time I tried to open the door or push a button before I added some grippy rubber pads to the bottom of the feet. Fortunately this was also the last problem I had with the microwave. The heating element is extremely powerful, and cooks food very evenly. The sensor cook can be a little on the aggressive side, particularly when reheating leftovers, but does a great job with popcorn and softening butter. The controls are responsive. It is dead silent when running. And it is very easy to clean up spills and splatters from the interior. In other words, it does everything you might want a microwave to do for you. Which, as someone writing a review, makes it a little hard to talk about. But when the biggest problem in my notes is that the rubber feet aren't sticky enough, that's got to be a sign that the engineers are doing something very right. To me this makes it ideal for families or other large households looking to quickly prep multiple large meals with a minimum of fuss.

It’s over engineered
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So powerful I set the popcorn on for at 80 seconds. Sensor cook, reheat, melt, etc settings are way too complicated. Buy basic! Pro: quiet. Period.

Family size, Death-star power.
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This microwave might be a bit too powerful if you love popcorn. We found that it tends to burn, or even arc when cooking standard microwave popcorn. Our fix was to place an upside-down bowl for the popcorn bag to sit on, which is decidedly less convenient.

Do Better Sharp
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had this just over a year. Massive and Quiet Microwave
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First and foremost this microwave is absolutely massive. You could probably fit a 16 pound turkey in it just fine, not that I'd recommend that though. Appearance wise, the brushed stainless steel is a nice look but it doesn't go all around the microwave. Inside the microwave it is grey, and the light isn't very strong so it's quiet dark inside. The glass dish is really large and well balanced. I've had experiences in the past with the kids spilling stuff because they put their bowls or cups too close to the edge, but I haven't had that issue with this microwave. The button beeps are the loudest of any microwave I've used in my life, but I tell you what, when it's cooking, this is the quietest microwave I've ever heard. Cooks everything quickly and thoroughly. My last microwave cooked things with way too much power and if you cooked a hot pocket, the filling would be scalding hot, but not with this Sharp microwave, it comes out perfectly. Not too hot, and definitely not too cold. And melting things like butter and chocolate is great. Overall I am pretty pleased, although I wish it was a little smaller.

Sleek, visually appealing design, power to match
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this microwave after my fiancé mistakenly bought a small compact microwave , that we can’t fit any plates in. On top of that, it took double the time to heat anything than it should have. Getting this Sharp was a welcome change. Pleas make sure you know the space/dimensions or your countertops before ordering. It’s large without being bulky, so probably too large for a college dorm. Out of the package setup is obviously easy. I instantly noticed the difference in power and display of the numbers and words even in the dark. It has sensor cool technology built in, meaning it will make sure your food is heated to the proper tempo, and distributed evenly. It’s 1200 watts which easily gets a job done with no issues. You have multiple quick/preset buttons that include meat poultry and fish. As well as popcorn veggie, frozen veggies, and more. Presets make life easy when on the go constantly. I think my favorite feature is the melt/soften butter chocolate ice cream andd cheese preset that as a baker, is very VERY helpful. Great addition to my kitchen, and it looks really modern and sleek as well.
