Called Customer service at sharp and they spent over an hour with me. His final suggestion was try a different hdmi cable, went out to buy it and same thing so it works with the composite cables but not hdmi.

This TV is underpowered. Other than that, it works well. The slowness can get annoying at times and there are times where the TV freezes. The picture quality is average. You get what you pay for. I would not buy this again.

Only problems are that the sensor for the remote is in a bottom corner, and that the volume buttons on the remote are badly placed - right where your hand goes if you're right-handed, so the volume's always getting changed
