I also have a more expensive Bose CD player which I purchased from Best Buy about 5 years ago. The sound quality from my new Sharp CD player is very comparable to the Bose system and I believe most people would not notice any difference in sound quality at normal listening levels.

Checked the wires and had them plugged in the back wrong. Got it straightened out and the static is gone and the sound is great!
