Better than expected quality at this price point
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to say i was initially disappointed when i first set this TV up. I was replacing an almost 10 year old plasma; and after viewing the 4K tv's friends, relatives, and neighbors had purchased for Black Friday & the holiday season, i was expecting dramatic improvement. After hanging it, turning it on, and trying a variety of inputs (tuner, dvd, memory stick), i was pretty much underwhelmed. I started doing some research, seeing if others were experiencing the same issue. I came upon a review here (user optimummind) who also was disappointed with the initial setup. After going deep into the menus and adjusting various settings, he came across a setup that vastly improved picture quality, blackness, color, and the overall quality. I'll repeat those settings here, and in doing so, thank him for his advice. *Settings -> Picture -Backlight = Middle Picture Mode = Vivid Contrast = 70 Brightness = 50 Color = 48 Tint: G1 Sharpness = 10 Aspect Ratio = Wide HDMI 2.0 Format Enhanced format Advanced Picture Options Overscan = On - Color Temperature: Mid-Low Digital Noise Reduction = Medium Active Contrast: High Expert Settings = (Default) *Settings -> Sound -Sound Mode = Theater (I use Music mode for music videos) TotalSonics = On TotalSurround = On TotalVolume = Off (default) Advanced Audio Settings = Default I agree with him that these units were turned out from the factory with very lackluster settings. While i now have a greatly improved picture, there's really not much that can be done with the audio - i tried adjusting the controls, but, as with almost every flat screen on the market, the sound is weak & tinny. Just take it for granted that you'll want some audio enhancement to compliment the picture. I was trying to get some info on the ARC (audio return channel) feature, as the included manual is somewhat sparse. For those that aren't aware, ARC is a feature that uses the HDMI cabling as a 2 way street, meaning it talks back to your soundbar/receiver (if so equipped), allowing you to simplify cabling (1 instead of 2.) Besides simplifying, this should also eliminate the annoying lip sync problem so common in these kind of setups. While trying to research this, I found that Sharp does not acknowledge this tv on it's website - no listing or manual whatsoever. Sharp & HiSense are now one and the same, and HiSense has an equivalent tv on the market; that one is also omitted on the website. It's like these 2 tv's don't exist. Makes you wonder if you'll ever get any kind of software programming updates. The built in Amazon & Netflix worked well for me, but what if they update their software - a year or two down the road you might have to hook your Roku back up to enjoy those services. I do have one major caveat with this tv. I did a wall mount, and was very surprised to see that attaching bolts were not included. When i checked the manual, I see they recommended M6 size bolts, as for length, they should have a mounting depth of 9.5-11.5mm. I made a trip to home depot for the bolts, all the time shaking my head. I do have a mechanical background, and in my estimation, an M6 size bolt doesn't seem to be the right choice for hanging a 40 pound item on the wall. I'm sure this was all worked out by their engineering department, but i remain leery about their choice. They did supply the screws for the table mount, and they're even smaller - about the thickness of screw that you use to put a cover plate on your electrical wall outlet. They really cheaped out in this department. For this reason alone, I knocked this review down 1 star - all for 25 cents worth of hardware. All said & done, if you're looking at this price point, you'd be hard put to get this much screen for the price.

Most awesome TV yet!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. They say bigger isn't always better, but with TV's - it is! Jumping from a 32" to this 60" was like night and day. Before turning it on, I mounted it to our bedroom wall with a wall mount purchased from Best Buy as well. Because, we didn't have anywhere large enough to set this bad-boy using its included stand! Upon turning it on for the first time, I was blown away by the picture quality, and iti was still set on the default settings!! Being the tinkerer that I am, I eventually tweaked everything using the many settings in the well laid out menu that the TV provides. I currently have our cable box, receiver, DVD, and Roku connected and it is a breeze switching between all the inputs. The remote is very well conceived and laid out. What was the biggest surprise is all the apps (but yes, no hulu - hence the roku). There is a full fledged web-browser app included. Perhaps I am letting my age show a little bit, but I never knew Tv's had web browsers. It renders and loads pages just as fast as any laptop. Which, for a TV - I think is remarkable. The apps load incredibly fast. One thing that I'm still struggling with is that sometimes the sound goes out of sync with the people on the screen. Usually this can be corrected by going to the sound menu, and going from DD (dolby digital) to PCM then back to dd. There is a lipsync and delay setting, but it doesn't seem to correct the problem. Or perhaps it's just me. I'm not docking any stars for this as it is an easy fix. Anyway, back to the picture - 4k video is jawdropping on this tv, and even 1080p is rendered very nicely without any pixelation. That is saying alot for such a large screen. Most in this size range have mild to moderate pixelation. Right now with all of the promos for this TV at best buy, you'd be crazy not to get one at the current price if you are in the market for a new tv! It practically does everything except make you a PB&J (or play hulu). But the second item, hopefully will be corrected by a future app update.

excellent 4k tv
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this 4k tv replaced my old dlp hdtv. i patiently waited for a pre black friday deal and this sharp 4k tv was the one; for 550 the deal was sealed. my old dlp tv cost me 1600 bucks. my limit was 1000 so i researched the comparable 60 inch 4k tvs. i needed a 120 hz motion tv to make it worthwhile. so the other choices were vizio, and sony. i was disappointed that samsung, and lg were on 60hz motion rate. i went to bestbuy to personaly view the comparable 4k 60 inch tv. the sharp 4k tv had the best picture quality when displayed among its competitors. the bestbuy sales rep said the sharp 4k tv is a new model. the rest are older models. so far i am very pleased with the picture quality. the background picture is enhanced with detail, the people's faces are detailed down to makeup and wrinkles, it will take a few days to get used to this 4k quality.

60", 4K content and "some" great apps!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first television I received was delivered by Fedex and came damaged with a broken screen. This was due to carrier mishandling, the box was crushed on one corner, the television itself is very securely packaged in the standard television box and styrofoam. Sharp was fast to send a replacement and even used a different, smaller, carrier to get the new television to me in short time. They also scheduled a pick up for the old damaged unit and worked around my availability. The replacement television came in perfect condition! The TV was very easy to set up. I used a phillips head screwdriver to attach the legs, removed all of the plastic wrap, put the included batteries in the remote and powered it on. Actually, just to note, before I even turned it on I was confused as to why the television tilt’s back slightly. The legs are labeled and can only be put on one way so I know they are on correctly yet the TV still tilt’s back slightly. It doesn’t seem to affect the picture at all but when looking at it from the side it looks a little awkward. Out of the box the picture looks good at 1080p but needs some minor calibration. You can search through these comments to find some settings suggested by other users, do a quick search online or try to fine-tune it yourself. However you go about it, it is worth doing as the picture is greatly improved afterward in my opinion. 4K content is really where this television shines but it’s still not as great as some of the more expensive televisions on the market. Make sure you have some sort of 4K content available, either a 4K bluray player or a subscription to Netflix or Amazon, and there is also YouTube. I tried out all of the aforementioned 4K content and it all looks great with the bluray player looking the best. The 4K picture is sharp with vivid colors and good depth but note that this television does not support HDR so don’t expect that little extra touch of color and depth that you get from HDR content. The sound quality from the speakers on this TV is actually better than a lot of other televisions I’ve heard but I would still recommend adding a soundbar or complete surround sound system. The menu and settings are very easy to navigate but don’t really impress me much, they are fairly “Plain Jane” with all of the standard options available. The response time is adequate and the apps seem to load fairly quickly. The television came preloaded with most of my favorite apps, Vudu, Netflix, Amazon, etc.. however it’s missing some major players such as Hulu, to which I do subscribe. The app availability is quite limited at the moment and I hope they add more in the future. Other reviewers have mentioned some automatic turn-off problems along with some sound issues but I have not experienced any technical issues at all, everything seems to be working as designed Overall this is a good television and at this size it will give you just enough to make it a good buy at the current price. I would recommend this to anyone looking to upgrade to a larger television or wanting to start watching 4K movies and TV shows without spending too much.

Surprisingly Good TV
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not having much experience with Sharp TVs I didn’t go into this with high expectations, but I was really surprised at how good of a 4K TV this is. It’s not going to measure up to one of the $1000+ TVs from Samsung or LG, but it’s a great budget choice. The TV itself is large (obviously), but not overly heavy or thick. The bezels are black and fairly small, so the blend in with the rest of the TV well. It comes with a set of metal legs and is also VESA compatible for wall mounting. Around the back there are an good amount of ports on the back. You get 3 HDMIs (2 are 2.0 and one is 1.4), 1 Component Input, 1 Composite Input, 1 USB, 1 SPDIF Out, and 1 LAN. It’s probably 1 less HDMI port than I’d like to have, but my setup has everything running through an external receiver anyway, so it wasn’t a problem for me. The screen 4K resolution and the native refresh rate is 60Hz. The backlight is a direct-lit LED, but I don’t think there is any local dimming. I can’t tell what kind of panel this TV uses, but my suspicion is that is VA, which tends to have better black levels, but not as good viewing angles as IPS. Unboxing the TV and setting it up was pretty straightforward. The setup was mainly just setting the language and getting the TV connected to WiFi (via built-in 802.11ac 2x2). After getting through the setup I hooked up my Xbox One S to one of the HDMI 2.0 ports and started watching. I went through the TV calibration procedure on the Xbox and found that the standard picture settings didn’t actually require much adjustment. I was surprised to find out that this TV does support receiving and displaying HDR10 signals. You have to go into the settings and change the HDMI 2.0 format to ‘Enhanced’. It doesn’t say it anywhere on the box, but it does work and the difference is noticeable. It’s not as good as the HDR on my Vizio TV, but having it there at all is really nice at this price point. I watched through various shows on Netflix and popped in a 4K Blu-ray as well and they all looked really good. The colors were good and the black levels were as well. The built-in apps work well. I plan to stream mostly through my Xbox, but it’s disappointing that Hulu was not one of the built-in apps. The remote is nothing special, but it works well enough. I was impressed with the on screen menu design - it’s really easy to get between different settings and the menus were pretty snappy to navigate. For the price range this is just a really good TV. It nails all the basics and it does them well enough that you almost forget how inexpensive it is.

Good. smart 4k 2160p TV
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tv has worked out great for my needs. We use it in the master bedroom for late night news or binge watching Netflix's from bed. The picture quality is outstanding right out of the box for me. We love that it has Netflix, YouTube, and Amazon video built-in. Makes it super easy to watch these with one push of a button. The sound quality from the built-in speakers is better than I expected no need for a sound bar if you don't have one. But if you want great sound you will want a sound bar. The set up and connecting to Wi-Fi- was fast and easy. Also moving from one app to another is very smooth with this TV. One of my other smart TV's is some what laggy when doing this. So very happy with that.

great picture, missing features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Good stuff up front: the picture is outstanding. Deep blacks, high contrast, good upscaling, and superb presentation of native 4k content. But you buy a smart TV for more than the picture right? You also expect good apps, and this one supports 4k streaming on VUDU, Netflix, and Amazon, all of which have dedicated keys on the remote. If you're looking for a deeper bench of content however, you're going to come up short in the Sharp app store. There are other services provided, but big names are notably missing. Possibly the biggest deficiency for me though, is the lack of bluetooth. Sure I can output sound to my sound bar via optical cable (although it took me forever to get the sound to match up with the picture--controls on the TV wouldn't do it, I had to program the delay in the sound bar itself.) However, I also like to listen to the TV over headphones while I'm working out, and that is not supported natively. In fact, I'm still trying to find a suitable third-party option to support bluetooth sound. So, it does its primary job great, but it's missing some of the secondary stuff that I would expect to find in a "smart" TV.

Good Price, A couple issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off the price at $550 is incredible for what this tv has to offer. So good in fact that I bought two. However a couple of issues that I’ve found and I’m curious if anyone else has experienced anything similar? First, the tv restarts randomly. It will shut down in the middle of a show, reboot and recover in about 10 seconds. This seems completely random and happens maybe every few hours. Second, when switching channels or pausing and playing a show on DVR there is a high pitched beeping sound that occurs. I’m using the tv speakers so it’s definitely the internal speakers and not a sound bar or external output. Anyone else have thiese minor but super annoying issues?

Great tv overall
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The only complaint I have about this tv is that it doesn’t have Hulu or roku on it. I bought it as a gift and I was trying to eliminate having them use 2 remotes but they will now have to still use an extra device to watch their shows. As far as the tv itself goes it’s wonderful. Great picture and sound. No complaints with the quality or set up and there are a lot of apps available to download... just not the two that would have been used the most in my case.

Good tv so far
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first 4K tv so I didnt know what to expect. Got it on sale for $550 and so far it seems like a great deal. Only issue I seem to have is the tv restarting itself while watching the Netflix app. It's only happened twice but still bothers me. Still trying to get a good picture setting for it but everything seems to always look too sharp. No pun intended..If anyone has a good setting let me know. Other than that im enjoying it and cant wait to see how it works with an xbox one x.

Terrific TV with a whole slew of features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sharp 60” 4K TV is a terrific television with a lot of features. Pros: BIG screen High resolution Supports wireless display casting Built in apps Web browser can be downloaded from app store (not pre-installed by default) Cons: No Hulu No YouTube TV (Note: referring to the relatively new live TV streaming service and not the standard YouTube that everyone’s been using for the past decade). Finding a stand for a TV of this size (60” - most stands only support up to 55”) and weight (roughly 45 lbs) is daunting. I really like this TV a lot. The features and resolution are great, and the size makes it awesome for entertaining. Unboxing was extremely difficult and took two people. Two important things to keep in mind when unboxing this television: 1. Don’t pull it out from the top, and 2. Don’t apply any pressure to the screen. The box didn’t provide any guidance on the best way to unbox this, so we ended up using a box cutter and cutting the box down along the sides and tearing it down. Finding a stand was difficult as most of the stands I found at stores only supported up to 55” TVs. Ironically, it was actually easier to find wall mounts at this size (though my walls are spongy, and I wouldn’t trust them to support a 45lb TV). 4K content still isn’t universally available yet. Most of my accessories cap out at 1080p, and I wasn’t too impressed with the resolution at first. Then I booted up a 4K video on YouTube using the included YouTube app. WOW. All in all, I was very impressed by the television.

Really Nice Picture
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a really nice 4K TV, it really checks most of the boxes. Picture is very clear and sharp. Watching sports or playing video games is immersive. Some TVs struggle with fast motion, this one handles it quite well. Blacks are a bit lacking, I really need to spend some more time trying to fine tune the picture. When there is a fully black screen in a movie, you get some white light screen bleed around the edges. Sound is good, as good as can be expected from modern TVs. A sound bar really makes a difference, but is not a must. The smarts in the TV are what brings it back a bit. The apps available are pretty limited, it is better than nothing and gives you the basics. It doesn't appear the app list will grow quickly, but the selections available are a nice group that will give you plenty of cable cutting options. If you are looking for real smarts, you will be adding a streaming receiver of some type. This is where the TV lost a star. All in all, I really like the TV. The size and quality is amazing. The smarts are the only part lacking. That is easily remedied with a streaming stick of your choice.

My 1st 4K TV and I LOVE it!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can’t say much for setup because my daughter was nice enough to do that for me. She didn’t complain, so it couldn’t have been too hard. She care for the TV’s sound, so she hooked up a nice wireless sound bar that we had hooked up to another TV. She did need my help lifting the TV and moving it around…being careful not to touch the screen. One thing I was not too happy about was that upon delivery one of the plastic handles that you remove to unbox was missing completely and it does seem they were there for securing the TV during shipping. They must have been a bit rough with it for that to have come off. It didn't seem to have done any damage to the actual TV though, so I guess I was lucky. I don’t know a lot about 4K TVs, but WOW! The picture is so clear, espcially after my daughter doing a few adjustments. I can’t imagine a clearer picture. I don’t have cable and I am using an Amazon FireTV that is 4k for streaming. Be sure you use 4k compliant things with this TV because my daughter says it will make a definite difference in your picture. I can’t imagine a picture on a TV being any crisper or clearer and I gave it 5 stars because I am so impressed with it. There is a lot of information in the Question and Answer section here and it was very helpful to my daughter for setting it up.
