Don't buy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tv size is ok. Colors and picture just don't look good..at all even after calibrating it. 3d is awful on this tv. And after a few weeks you start to get big light spots where it should be black. Wifi is extremely weak. There's not even Amazon on this tv. Remote is cheap no lights. Just awful. I bought mine for 1999 it says original price was 2900 I've never seen it that high and now for black Friday it's 1799... shouldn't be more than a $500 tv in my opinion.

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV has a huge flaw with dark images. Everything becomes "blotchy" when the picture is dark. Second, when watching sporting events, the ball, puck or anything moving quickly becomes blurry. And finally, you must change the "AV settings" every time you switch from gaming, to movies, to TV shows. This Television is not worth the price tag.

Completely Disappointed.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first unit installed was a lemon. The wireless adapter did not work. 1 week later I got a replacement. After 2 days that unit's wireless adapter also stopped working. On both the units the sound would suddenly become distorted if left on a certain channel. Also I could not get the picture settings to give me the quality at least as good as my Sony 46 inch Bravia TV. I ended up getting a Sony 70 inch TV 3D. Very pleased now.

Horrible picture out of the box
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I returned this tv after spending hours trying to adjust numerous settings, in an attempt to get a decent picture. I tried my own adjustments and even some recommended settings from the AV forums with no success. Maybe I had a faulty set, but I exchanged it for a Sony that required zero adjustments out of the box to get me a great picture.

Excellent TV!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this tv just before Christmas. When watching satellite broadcasts (1080i and 720p), the deep colors and clarity of the picture offer detail that is close to or equal to 4k when viewed from 4 feet or more from the screen. This picture detail is enhanced even further when watching blueray (1080p). I was pleasantly surprised by the high quality of the 3D when viewing blueray 3D dvds. Overall, our viewing experience is greatly enhanced over our 9 year old Sony 60" LCD. I experimented with the picture set-up and found that I was very close to the preset settings when I finished. I found that the 240 refresh rate did not work for hockey -- the puck had a blurry trail on a medium pass speed (estimated 20-25 mph) so I turned this feature off. I have never purchased warranty contracts before, but given the cost of repairing this level of product and the reported failures after one year, I purchased a 5-year warranty (Geek Squad -- 4 yrs. in addition to the manufacturers 1-yr. warranty) for $400. Since a panel replacement alone is $1,100, I believe this is one warranty that is worth purchasing and since I purchased the tv for $900 less than MSRP, I felt comfortable spending the $400 for 5 years of worry-free viewing.

Best TV I have owned
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My two main criteria for a TV are size and picture quality within a $3K budget. Six months ago I had decided on the Samsung UN75F6300, but hesitated then and decided the 60” 1080i DLP I currently have could hold out a little longer. Then I went to Best Buy a couple of weeks ago to grab a DVD that was on sale. Of course I never go in without checking the current crop of TVs on display. Low and behold they had the Samsung UN75H6350 and it was looking good. But right beside it was the Sharp LC-70TQ15U. Both are new for 2014 and this was the first I heard of the “Q+” series. “4K” sets are still too expensive for me. My theater room is large and I sit about 14 feet from the screen, so I will not really see the total maximum benefit of “4K” one can see up closer, then there is the content availability issue. Enter “Q+”, a hybrid 2K unit at a 1080P price that will play 4K media. My curiosity was peaked. I wanted the real estate of the Samsung, but after seeing the quality of the Q+ I had a dilemma. Both units looked good in the store, and by themselves would look great. The salesman had some 4k trailers in 1080P on a thumb drive to demonstrate the up convert of the Q+ and picture quality of their TV’s. Before he started his demo they had the store ad feed running. Looking at this, I noticed during an ad change the now all black screen of the Samsung had noticeably cloudy areas of lighter blacks (dark grays) peppered across the screen. The Sharp also had this affect (as most LED's do#, but to a very much lesser degree to where if you were not scrutinizing the screen, you may not notice it. Then the next ad had an all white background and I noticed the opposite with the Samsung, it had cloudy dirty areas of light grays. The Sharp displayed solid white with no cloudy areas. As the trailer demo “After Earth” started, I noticed both pictures looked very good. The Sharp had better flesh tones and better details in the shadows. Of course this may just be a calibration issue between the two. The Sharp also had the best color rendition and better separation of color. At 14 feet I’m not sure one could really tell if the enhanced resolution of the Sharp would be that noticeable over the larger Samsung screen, but up close #5ft# you can see it. The Sharp has better clarity and definition overall. For me the Sharp has the better picture. I decided on the Sharp and have not looked back. It has been 17 days now and I am very pleased with this TV. As with any technology there are good and “I wish this is better” things. The picture is outstanding. As with any new TV it does need some adjustments for your room/lighting environment. I found calibration settings for the SQ from an Amazon review and started there. I found these settings made my TV too green and a little too dark. In the “Advanced” settings I could see in the CMS settings where he had too much green and too little blue. I half these numbers to start and that really improved the colors, but still not quite right. I changed the color temp from low to med-low and that brightened up the screen a little and further resolved the green/blue issue. I have a Disney “WOW” calibration disc and that showed the Amazon published specs for the base settings to be right on + or – one point. Unfortunately, this disc will not help you with the advance settings. Now for some of the disappointments: This TV, as well as all current true “4K’s” at Best Buy, will not play downloaded “4K” MP4 content via the USB port. This port will only play 1080P or less. I found this has to do with the USB port and not the TV’s capability. The only way to currently view 4K content is via HDMI, so you will need a 4K player or a computer with a 4K card. I think even 4K on the YouTube app is not true 4K, but still looks amazing which brings me to my next issue; wireless network connectivity. My TV is in a 2nd floor bonus room over the garage about 30-40 feet from my router. I get 4 bar signal strength on my laptop in front of my TV and the TV only has one bar or no bars, but yet is connected with very poor app performance. I have a 100ft Ethernet cable I rolled out and the apps just blasted off. I did tests and found with wireless I was only getting 400Kbs down #remember dial-up?) in a 15Mbs network. With Ethernet I was getting 15Mbs. I purchased a Netgear 4 port Range Extender; Problem Solved. Overall, I am very pleased with this TV. The TQ aluminum trim and base design works very well with my setup, which I prefer over the SQ all black, but would have preferred the SQ price. My unit does not have any of the issues few others have reported with dead pixels and flashing. It was perfect for its specifications right out of the box. No damage or issues. It has an evenly lit screen with very little clouding. In fact, the black bands on top and bottom of wide movies are very even across the screen in a dark room with no clouding. As for motion blur, I find the 120 high setting works the best and still maintains the up covert. If you watch sports and see motion blur, you will have to disable the resolution enhance and set the refresh to 240Hz. I do not game, so no observations here. I also have not tried the 3D since this model does not come with glasses and I do not have a 3D player. FYI, 3D mode disables the up-convert. Bottom line: Buying this TV from Best Buy has been the best experience I have ever had from them or any other TV purchase. The salesman knows his stuff and bent over backwards to assist me without being pushy or aggressive. The free delivery and installation was professional and caring. Best Buy has really improved since my last TV negotiations a few years ago, where I bought elsewhere. For me the Sharp LC-70TQ15U is an excellent semi UHDTV.

Great TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When it comes to 1080p TV, it doesn't get much better than this. While fairly expensive, it is worth the price. To put it simply, you get what you pay for - in this case very good TV. To me, the most important feature on this TV is the deep black it produces, it makes a huge difference when compared with my previous TV's. I also have Sony XBR 65X850B 4K TV and the blacks on Sharp are very close to Sony, which was far more expensive. A 1080p movie on the Sony 4K TV (which upconverts 1080p signal to 4K) looks nearly identical as it looks on the Sharp TV. Even watching 4K is very close, from distance you cannot tell the difference, you have to get pretty close to see the fine details of a 4K movie. The TV has awesome design and all the smart TV features known to man ... but it could be a bit easier to set it up properly, it takes some time to do everything right. However, when you're done with settings, the extra time setting it up is worth every penny. Pick any movie from your collection and it's like watching it for the first time, the picture quality is simply amazing. The sound is not that great but for me, it makes no difference as I run everything through a receiver. What I also like about this TV is that it communicates even with non-Sharp products. For example, when I turn on my Sony Blu-ray player, it automatically sends a signal to the TV via HDMI and turns it on. Another plus is the remote control app for iPhone or Android devices. The remote that comes with the TV is not backlit (except 4 buttons on top) which is a bit annoying in the dark ... for that reason the smartphone app comes handy. The conclusion? The Aquos Q+ line is on the top when it comes to 1080p TV's available on the market.

Amazing TV Amazing Value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did a lot of research and with everything out there felt this had everything I wanted for the best price. Liked 4K but didnt want to pay 4-5k for it. Q Plus has 2160p amazingly clear picture (stunning)..wanted something 70-80 inches. Bought the 70...wanted 3D, Smart TV, smart phone connectivity...got it all and lots more!! There is too much to list! It makes everything look amazing. I watched tv shows from the 70s on Hulu and it was stunning to see those old shows in such clarity. Watched Spiderman in 3D last night..again it was stunning! I realized last night I have a cinematic experience now in my living room with this tv and surround sound. I got the pioneer elite receiver which passes 4K signals. If u want a 4k, 3D, smart TV but dont want to pay 4k prices...GET THIS TV!!! Definitely recommend...

Excellent TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I started my search for a new TV at Costco. Wound up purchasing a Vizio 70" P Series 4K TV. The picture looked good at the store. However when I got it home and started watching movies on either HBO HD or Bluray while the picture was clear any time a close up shot on action scenes came up their was incredible blur around the actors. Bad enough that it gave me a headache. I tried all settings that were available and could not remedy the problem. So back to Costo I went to return the 4K. I was not upset by this decision because with some homework I did after that purchase it seems as though the 4K TV,s are a bit overrated since there are no networks broadcasting that level yet nor can you buy any movies as of yet. I have heard that Netflix has some but I can't testify to that. So when I returned the 4K I went back to the TV's and decided that I liked the picture of the Vizio M Series so I bought the 70". Once I returned home with the M Series I hooked it up and I was shocked to see the same blur issues as the P Series. I was not happy at all. I thought Vizio's were good TV's. I can't say one bad thing about Costco other than they have no sales reps that know abouth the TV's they sell. So I went back a second time and returned it but instead of buying another one from them I went to Bestbuy and talked to one of the associates about the issues I was encountering. He walked me thru the different brands of TV's they sold and showed me what their clarity was. I told him that 4K was of no importance to me since it was not an active broadcast as of yet and no definitive timeline has been released to the public. So the associate showed me the Sharp AQUOS that you are reading about. He informed me that while the Vizio TV's I was looking at were good Vizio has some issues with the larger screen TV's. Under 60" are ok. But the size I was wanting he said the Sharp AQUOS was where it was at and as a bonus it is 4K ready for when the time comes. I was gun shy because of my last two tries but thought I needed to give Sharp a try as I have never owned one and I was blown away by the picture in the store. So once the TV came in I picked it up brought it home and set it up. It is a beauty even when it's off. Then came time to set it up which was fairly straight forward and BAM its time to test it out... I tried the same HBO HD channels and NO Blur, then I tried the Bluray movies and again NO Blur! I was pleasantly shocked! The picture is crystal clear also! I would highly recommend this TV to anyone! I still find myself trying to look for the blur and can't see it anymore what a relief! This is truly a GREAT TV! Thank you Bestbuy for having knowledgeable associates and thank you Sharp for a great product.

Outstanding Resolution
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow, this is an amazing picture and is future proof for 4K content. The upscaler is so effective that my brain is in overload from all the detail. Had to go to movie mode while I get used to the visual overload. I sit 12 feet away for this big 70" television and there is a clear upgrade from my Sony 1080P 60" Wife says it's like looking at a video that we took from our camcorder. Colors could be better, but it's new and I have some tweaking to do. I highly recommend this model over the more expensive (higher contrast ratio) model with the 4 leg stand ($400 more !) This is the one to get. It will make your head hurt tyring to figure out if it's real or not.

High Tech TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought another SHARP because I think the picture quality is better than Vizio. I upgraded this time to the Q+. We are very pleased with the picture quality. I have a 65" Curved Samsung 4k and this SHARP is very close to matching it... but without the huge price tag. I would recommend the Geek Squad to set it up for you to get the most out of this TV. It took me a few days and an expert from Direct TV to set it to it's optimal viewing potential. Now that it is set...we love it. It is a treat to watch. We will never go back to just regular TV again.

Awsome TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was in need to replace an older 48" TV for a 500sq foot room and this Sharp Aquos Q+ fit the bill. The picture is crystal clear, adjusts to lighting conditions smoothly, sound is clear and it does a good job with commercials. When I turn on my home theater, the TV takes control and adjusts both volumes in sync. TV weight was in limits for my wall mount so no new mount was needed. Over all very satisfied and impressed with all the features included with this TV.

Fantastic Television!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My boyfriend and I purchased this TV because we needed a larger TV. This TV replaced my 50” Panasonic plasma TV. The step-by-step setup was easy to follow. The picture is amazing and the clarity is phenomenal. The on-screen menus are easy to browse. It’s nice to know that if/when 4k becomes more of an industry standard I can wait at least for a little while to upgrade my TV since this can support 4k inputs. No regrets...worth every penny!

Couldn't Have Been More Pleased
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was thoroughly pleased when I got my Sharp AQUOS Q+ tv hooked up and started watching shows on it. It makes you feel like you're in the movie or tv show, which is great. Using next-gen video game systems on it is AMAZING! It makes the gameplay feel that much more intense! I love my new tv! The only downside is that it is heavy, I would definitely suggest getting Geek Squad to deliver and install the tv, I know I regretted not getting that service within the first five minutes of trying to do it myself.
