This microwave as first was fine - then it just turned into junk. Literally caught on fire after 1 year and almost caught the house on fire. Went to return it but it was outside it's "warranty" period. Junk!

Microwave lasted 6 months. Trying to get it replaced under warranty.

It didn’t work. You have to setup the heat level before use.After I call the Sharp customer service to figure out,and we did tried for an hour on the phone. It’s still not working.The glass of water that I put in the microwave was not hot at all. Just waste my time.I returned.

The glass turn table keeps getting off balance Hard to get it back on. I complained but they wanted a picture taken and sent to them. I couldn’t do it. Like they didnt know what the inside looked like. Very disappointed. In fact I would like to get rid of it

I bought this microwave to replace an 1100W Kenmore that died at 11 years old. I really liked my old one, and this Sharp was the closest I could find in terms of features and size to it (and it was one of the few you can still get in white). The good news is the size of the microwave is almost identical both inside and out, to my old one. It also cooks identically even though it's a little lower powered. The controls, while different than on my old one, do cover the same functions, so after getting used to them, they work fine, with one exception: My old microwave had a "quick defrost" setting which worked like a charm on small items, and took only a couple of minutes. The Sharp does not have that option, so, even though its defrost works extremely well, it takes about 10 minutes longer to do the same thing as my old one. As others have noted, this Sharp does not light up when you open the door. I thought I would miss that, but I actually prefer it with no light, since I frequently leave the door open after cooking moist/steamy food so the inside of the machine can dry out easily. No light with door open means you don't have to worry about burning the lamp out if you do leave the door open frequently to air it out. There is really only one thing about this microwave that needs improvement, and that's the rotating glass plate. It is super easy to knock out of the center rotating mount; I find that sometimes even lightly sliding a plate with food into it will bump the glass tray enough out of its socket to need to take everything out and re-seat it. It happens enough to be annoying. It's really the only major design flaw this product has, so hopefully Sharp will modify it in the next version they put out.

when microwave was taken out of box ( a month ) after I bought it because it was a gift , it was past return date so I was unable to return there was a large dent in the right back corner and when you open the microwave the light does not come on .other wise it seems to work for how long I have no idea who knows what else was damaged ?

No overall ratings.....as the item i purchased in good faith from a reputable company such as Best buy. Only to discover the item was broken.. unworkable....and a big disappointment....to the perspn who was given this item as a Christmas gift.

It worked fine for the first 13 and a half months. Now it is making horrible popping sounds that are frankly frightening. Guess these things are made to just outlive the warranty-- and then live forever in landfill. Disgusted

Purchased this microwave last month. It stopped working during process. After it came back on, it started having a strong odor and made a loud noise. Returning it today.

Thought this was the perfect microwave when suddenly it just working in the middle of re-heating some food. There was a slight burning electrial smell when it stopped and now it's worthless - after less then 9 months.

This microwave worked well for a little over a week then it started to shut off in mid operation and had an electrical burning smell. We might have just received a bad one. It was returned. YMMV

Worthless, had to replace after 10 months. Of course Best Buy was no help either. Save your money and purchase appliances from a different retailer.

I’ve had two of these. They both failed just days after the 1 year warranty was over.

Did not last. Door latch was the first to go and then it would turn on when you opened the door.

shuts down after heating 1 plate of food....have to let cool down for 10 minutes before it can restart

It broke in one year. Spent a lot of money for a product to brake so soon.

Overheat really easy and stop working for about 10 minutes
