It turns off and on. I have to toggle the plug. It just suddenly powers off and goes dark. I'll wait 30 minutes then it works again. It finally stopped working altogether this morning. Another time i was heating up my dinner, the microwave started smoking and when i opened it, a hole had been burned into the interior wall. It was only chicken and rice. So now I'm purchasing a new microwave. I will never buy another Sharp. Btw, the plate was the most annoying thing ever. It constantly moves and you have to maneuver the ring into place and then position the plate "just so", without knocking the ring back out of place. My previous unit lasted more than 10 years, this one, 10 months. At least sharp honors its warranties.

Dead Control Panel at Delivery

Tried to make popcorn and the buttons were unresponsive. Tried a different outlet and same thing. I stood in line for 20 minutes to return it. I bought a GE instead from a local store.

Door latch mechanism failed after 7 months

After 7 months, well within the 1 year warranty period, the door latch mechanism failed and the door will not open. I contacted Sharp customer support by phone and on line but so far no response regarding repair service options; very disappointing. (The last microwave I had was a similar Sharp product and it worked fine for over 10 years. I only replaced it because the white color had faded.)

this one FAILED look for another brand

I am sad and mad that I did not purchase an extended warranty, but didn't think I needed to. Consumer reports rated Panasonic highly so will at those first today as I start the search again for a replacement.
