I have to admit I knew nothing about this movie before purchasing it. I was simply browsing through the store. The first thing that caught my eye was the movie being available in 3d. I love 3d movies and it's becoming quite difficult to find any new or recent releases in the states. After reading the brief description of the movie I decided to purchase it. The movie somewhat reminds me of the "Deadpool" movies...that is quite a bit of comedy mixed with just the right amount of action. If you enjoyed the "Deadpool" movies you'll likely enjoy this movie.

A fun story with a nice amount of action. The movie has a simple setting never straying outside of Philadelphia. Zachary Levi found his place in the DC Universe. He captures the naiveness of Shazam! and manages to find what it takes to be a superhero. The antagonist, Mark Strong performs well, however his discourse of obtaining the power of Shazam is a bit repetitive. Shazam is likely to travel overseas in the sequel to fight his nemesis...Black Adam! Overall, DC is finally getting the rythym of making their movies great. I'd also watch Aquaman.

another quality entry in the DC expanded universe, this movie will appeal to both young and old. I like the fact that DC movies have a broad range a styles which are exemplified in grittier movies such as Batman versus Superman 2 fun action-packed movies like Wonder Woman and then more G-rated or PG rated Fair such as Shazam, and the upcoming R rated Joker movie. I do hope we get to see another Shazam movie. Recommended pickup.

I don't know what people are expecting coming into this film, but it was fun. The graphics are great (to be expected) but I believe it is realistic of a kid who becomes a super hero. Did you like the movie BIG? Then you will like this. How would a teenager act with super powers? How about a super hero that likes being a super hero and doesn't just get weighed down by the responsibility. It was fun, will watch again.

This is what DC should have been doing all along. Standalone movies for its characters building up a shared universe before trying to make a team up movie. Been a fan of Zachary Levi since "Chuck" and you can tell he is having a blast in the movie. Also props to WB for not abandoning 3D in the US unlike the other superhero movie studio.

I am a huge DC fan (from childhood) so to see WB produce this movie and do so good with it....makes me happy. However, I preordered the stealbook and the case they gave me was a bit dented. Kinda stinks but the disc itself was in good shape. The people receiving the freight need to be a bit more careful to prevent this in the future. Aside from that, the staff was great and as usual my BestBuy experience was great.

This is a good movie.It has heart,humor and thrills.Far superior than the recent Captain Marvel movie that made almost triple at box office.The effects are spot on ,and the villian is good.The movie sticks to the comic books but has freshness.It is a shame it was overlooked.The bonus DVD with extras a major plus.Originally there was a different beginning.The price was good and quality of DVDS are excellent.

This movie is a must-see, and this is coming from someone who initially had no interest in watching it. Although light on action compared to other flashy superhero movies, the strong performances and script make up for that aspect. Not only does this movie have an incredible message of what it truly means to be family, but it is incredibly faithful to the comics. The steelbook looks AMAZING btw. A definite must-have.

-Growth ! Funny & Mystisism must Sell ? It Proves to be the glue for every Hollywood film now. But is added and shows that humors, and rigors of Grade School we all, went through ! Now, We can laugh, lol . ... . ..but this Movie is indeed moving of being a foster teen. But add a dash of "Super Hero" and ya get a exceptional Movie :) ! Excellent for this age group. I went through it so I liked this movie. :)

A lot of fun for the whole family. Plenty of comedy, this film isn't afraid to not take things so dark as other DC films have gone. Good acting on all fronts, a very nasty villian, a reluctant young hero and sidekick that win you over with emotion, heart, and humour. Be sure to watch for the end credits scene, it's worth the wait. The credits roll is it's own fun story brilliantly told in animation form.

If you are a fan of superhero films, this one is a must. It tells the story of a boy who is transformed into a superhero at will to stop an evil madman. The 4K image and Dolby Atmos soundtrack do not disappoint, as they are at or near the top of the 4K offerings currently available. If you buy this you will not disappointed, especially given the beauty of the steelbook. Highly recommended to all!

While I do love the superhero genre I have found the DC movies lacking. From badly motivated villains to heroes acting out of character I was rarely thrilled with those films. Wonder Woman changed my opinion a bit and Aquaman was a pretty strong movie, but Shazam had so much heart and was so fun that I cared about every protagonist in the film regardless of if they were “super” or not. Fun movie.

This one was a surprise! With 3D blurays being scarce nowadays especially regarding new releases, this is a great way to fire up those 3D glasses and tv if you still have them. The 3D is very good with great depth and color pop. If you have the right electronics to support 3D then this is one to add to the collection.

This movie is not what I expected, but it was fun to watch, and overall it was satisfying. This is the original Captain Marvel character from the 40s & 50s comics. Since DC gave up the Captain Marvel name & Marvel acquired it, DC's character is now called Shazam!, which is what the young boy says to change into the superhero. This movie is much lighter than the previous DCEU movies - a good change. If they continue on this path, DCEU movies will be more competitive with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Shazam is by far the most light hearted film of the DCEU and that’s not a bad thing either. Billy Batson I know these comic books names is a young man comes around a actual wizard who gives him powers. When Billy uses the power of SHAZAM he becomes a adult and the film showcases that in a funny way through out the film. I don’t want to give to much away but if you hadn’t saw SHAZAM watch it.

The plot... two kids in different families and situations... they make different choices... instead of being dark and heavy, this movie is full of humor and lightness to offset the "evil villain and how he came to be that way" with the "how the hero really stepped into the adult hero shoes". This is a different kind of superhero story which is really nice. I recommend this movie.

Zachary Levi is great as the adult-sized version of 14-year-old Billy. Jack Dillion Grazier is funny as Billy's resident sidekick/superhero expert. The wonderful Mark Strong is the villain, Dr. Silvana. Shazam! was first published as "Captain Marvel" in 1940 just a few months after Superman. After years of litigation, Fawcett Comics stopped publishing "Captain Marvel" and let the Trademark lapse. when DC Comics revived the character, they had to change the name to the magic word, "Shazam!"

Shazam is such a fun film with a lot of fantastic characters that make it a superhero version of BIG. I immensely enjoyed the movie in theaters, but getting to finally see it in 4K is an even better experience. The striking reds and lightning effects really pop off the screen with the 4K and the Dolby Atmos soundmix is just incredible. If you buy this movie, THIS is the version to own!

Although played for laughs more than for adventure ,this film adaptation of the original Captain Marvel is really good. Since DC lost the rights to the Captain Marvel name to Marvel Comics years ago,I was wondering how they would get around Billy saying Shazam without reverting to his hero or normal size. They kinda solved it in an interesting way. Looking forward to the sequel already.
