This is a good movie but its hard to really capture the essence of one of the greatest fictional characters of all time.

Did not appreciate the Satanic plot line! Enjoyed watching Robert Downey Jr. but wished movie hadn't had so much underlying evil.

There are a few camera effects used and general setting choices made to enhance the setting, not everybody likes movies that do this. generally blues and grays are used heavily, however this does enhance the movie for me, and it may for you as well. So, no spoilers here, I saw it in the theaters, I don't bother to see something in theaters unless it crosses a certian threshold, specifically it must be an action film of sorts (because comedy looks just as good on a TV/PC), it must have a plot, it must not involve one Uwe Boll (of bad video game film fame) or be directly derived from a video game (where if you have played the game you have seen the movie), etc. Most of the movies that qualify are worth seeing once, and perhaps a rental/borrow from library/stream/whatever about 1 in 20 surpass this threshold and become movies you MUST have on Blu-Ray for the quality... etc. So, trust me, this is one of the exceedingly rare movies where the plot, acting, action,camera is solid and comes together well. In addition the special features are very good, alot of the reaserch (and you have to do some for a film like this) is shown and some amusing people are met (sherlock conventions, who knew?) So again, until the store closed as a casualty of Netflix in the mid 2000's I rented out movies, I saw numerous movies for free as a perk of the job, I know what makes a movie worth seeing more than just twice, more than three times really. This movie has that something... so do the other movies I recommend below (Equilibrium and Taken are among the best two action films I have ever seen, I discovered Equilibrium during my tenure in the twilight of movie-rental-storedom)

I finally bought this blu-ray a few days ago i put off buying it for a long time because i didn't have a very good experience seeing it in the theater screaming children people yelling at the screen etc so i really couldn't hear what holmes was saying half the time also the movie looked to dark in the theater... However this blu-ray is a different story i love everything about it ! the look of the movie the acting even the storyline is quite interesting and the special features are really good as well. i'm really glad i bought this and i can't get over how great RDJ is in this role . so there you have it short and sweet it's definately worth getting on blu-ray.

This movie is well worth the money. I would have spent another $10 just to own it. It was absolutely amazing. Robert Downey was amazing by far his best performance to date. He depicts Sherlock Holmes wonderfully. And Jude Law is great as his sidekick. Makes you feel like you are Sherlock Holmes, as you are kept guessing on the case for the entire movie. Once you find out the result in the end it's a wonderful masterpiece that pieces together all the parts of the movie beautifully. A movie worth watching over and over again and one you should for sure have in your collection.

This movie directed by Guy Ritchie has got to be the best portrayal of Sherlock Holmes I have ever seen. The cinematography in this is just as good as the acting. The acting chemistry between Robert Downey Jr, Jude Law and Rachel McAdams is amazing. This movie ends with a potential for a huge sequel. At first I was upset that this movie did not have Professor Moriarty in it until I watched the end. I will now be eagerly awaiting the sequel to come.

I seen this movie in theaters and I am going to buy it today. Incredible movie!! There might have been something off about the ending, but I need to watch it a few more times to remember and fully appreciate it. This was an incredible movie to see in theaters and can only get better on bluray. I am a little to young to really appreciate the original Sherlock Homes but I am pretty sure this movie does it justice. The action was awesome, the plot was great, it had comedy as expected. So overall I thought very good. You shouldn't be disappointed in this movie.

Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law provide great performances as a classic pair. The tension they create brings a fresh look to the Holmes/Watson combination. Casting RDJ was inspiring as he portrays Holmes as an eccentric genius. The scenes where Holmes formulates a plan of attack and then executes it is masterful. Great lead-in for future Holmes movies.

All of the clues are there for you to figure out the mystery, but you must watch closely. Robert Downing Jr. is great as Sherlock Holmes from the first scene to the delivery of the clues. Action sequences are great and slow motion is very well delivered. Jude Law as Watson plays very well along with Robert Downing Jr.

Robert Downy Jr has woke up in his last 4 movies, he is extremely underrated as an actor..then with Jude Law's Watson,excellent choice for that character. sequel should be great..

Like most blockbusters, the ending is quite predictable and contrived. All and all, very entertaining movie with actual characters from the book and very charismatic lead actors that could probably carry an average movie (except REPO Men, that was awful and not even kinda medically accurate!)

Not one of the best best Sherlock Holmes movies that i've seen but it still pretty good,both actors played their roles well,plot was a little weird but I still enjoyed the movie!

Robert Downey Jr. plays a wonderful Sherlock Holmes and brings a magnificent sense of humor to the role. The film is full of entertaining dialogue and a plot line with standard Sherlock mystery. I thoroughly enjoyed this film.

This is a fantastic movie. If you haven't seen this movie you need to. Robert Downey Jr does a great job bringing the character to life.

I really enjoyed this movie. There were a few scenes that were a bit unrealistic, however, it was wonderfully put togther. I saw it in the theaters twice, and now I have it on DVD. It is one of my new favorites.

It was hard to believe that Sherlock Holmes would spend his spare time boxing, or engaging in any physical activity other than investigation. Why was it so hard for Dr. Watson to get engaged and then married? It took away from the plot of the movie.

One of the best movies ive seen Robert Downey Jr. in. Robert and jude make the perfect duo in this Sherlock Holmes movie. Plot was amazing along with comedy. Cant wait for the 2nd movie...
