The Shokz OpenDots2 made a great first impression before I even opened the box. The packaging is unique and has an eco‑friendly feel, almost like recycled material—which the box confirms. Inside, you get a compact pod case and a standard USB‑C cable, keeping things simple and clean. The ear clips themselves are unlike anything I’ve used before. The material is extremely flexible, incredibly lightweight, and so comfortable that I can barely tell they’re on. I have sensitive skin, and most earbuds start causing soreness after about two hours, but these didn’t bother me at all. They sit so naturally that it almost feels like nothing is touching my ears. The Shokz app was easy to follow, with clear visuals that made positioning and learning the controls effortless. The tutorial images are especially helpful if you’re new to this style of earbud. And then there’s the sound. Wow. The audio quality is almost unbelievable—crystal clear and surprisingly full. The first time I streamed something, I actually took one ear clip off just to make sure all that sound was really coming from the device. They also give a little “ding” when you put them on while connected, which is a nice touch. Overall, the OpenDots2 deliver comfort, clarity, and thoughtful design in a way that genuinely surprised me. They feel innovative without being complicated, and they sound fantastic. Highly recommended.

We switched from in-ear to clip style ear buds a couple years ago after my wife developed repeated eat infections due to a reaction to silicone and the constant closure of her ears with sound pods. I was skeptical at the time that quality sound could come from buds not jammed into ear canals. Several products have proven me wrong, and OpenDots 2 Open-Ear Clip-On True Wireless Bluetooth Earbuds are the latest pleasant surprise. Buds at this price point should provide comfort and superior sound with stellar battery life and easy controls. Shokz ticks all those boxes here—BUT superior sound is dependent on the app. Out of the box, the durability of the buds themselves is evident, as they are flexible and lightweight with a solid build quality. The charging case is not as solid, but it packs a wallop with 40 hours of playback on a charge. I always just pop new pods on and see what I can hear and what I can intuit without the app or complex instructions. The controls are easy to master, especially with the pinch control. I often get frustrated with tap controls because they can be imprecise. The squeeze of the battery housing makes these foolproof to control. My one big gripe with Shokz is that to get the Dolby and Deep Bass, you must use the app. I feel that optimal sound should be available without signing into an app, but unfortunately that is not the case here. After you do sign into the free app though, the sound finally reaches rich, superior quality. If you listen loud, others will be able to hear it more than other brands I have tried, but the quality is much better. Be courteous of your office mates or aisle-mates on a plane and enjoy at reasonable levels! If you want a noise cancelling experience, you need an alternate form factor, but for ease of use, high sound quality, and truly comfy open-ear buds, I recommend these Open Dots 2. The battery is amazing and the sound is stellar!

This is my first pair of open ear headphones. I’ve had many noise canceling buds and over ear, which are great for tuning the world out, but these are fantastic at being in the moment while also being to be in your own world. I live in the city and I appreciate being able now to ride my bike while listening to music. I felt unsafe with noise cancelling earbuds not knowing my surroundings, whether a car is approaching or I just need to communicate with someone. I also do a ton of projects at home and I want to be able to hear my dogs bark, the neighbors talking to me, my wife talking to me but still listen to a audiobook, podcast or my music while getting things done. My wife and I also have vastly different music tastes so to be able to still listen to my music while being present is just a great thing now. The sound quality is surprisingly wonderful. I thought I would miss out on the ear drum blowing bass and crisp treble of noise cancelling but it’s all there. I also thought they might feel like a heavy ear ring pulling down on my ear, nope, very comfortable. They just clip right on and are so light and almost unnoticeable. There are controls to answer phone calls, chance tracks, pause/play right on the buds. Out of the box, synced easily to pair with my phone Bluetooth. The packaging was also fully recyclable which is a little thing that does mean something to me to be able to keep stuff out of landfills. Overall I can 100% recommend this Shokz Opendots2 Open ear buds. The ability to be present in the world, hear birds chirping, people talking, and potential dangers, while also being able to listen to a book or rock out without closing the world out and or disturbing anyone is a huge win for me in regards to these.
