sound will be fine for 30 + minutes and then it will be garbled for 5 seconds. This recurs several times in a 2 hour stretch.

Finally what I wanted in open style headphones

The Shokz openfit 2+ headphones finally check all the boxes for me in an open fit style headphone. See, I have a much much cheaper version from another brand and although I do like them for some uses, but the quality is terrible, the fit is bad, and the mics are useless. The Shokz on the other hand are fantastic in all these categories. I need a good audio quality open fit designed headphone for zoom/discord calls as well as exercising and running on busy streets. Now I wouldn’t say these have “amazing audio quality” because they are still open fit which will always struggle to get a full sound, but in that category, I think these are amazing. The sound is good enough to satisfy a need for music when running or working out and is plenty good for basic video calls etc. I love how I can hear everything going on around me but with my own little private soundtrack. The comfort is also amazing on these headphones. I actually found myself forgetting they were on and ended up wearing them for over an hour with no music or sound playing and completely forgot they were on my head. This comfort combined with the ability to hear your surroundings made me forget others can’t actually hear what I’m listening to and, at one point, I turned to my wife and asked her a question about the podcast I was listening to and she looked at me blank faced and said “I can’t hear what you’re listening to.” oops. So yeah, I’d say using these headphones sounds a lot like having a small speaker in the room playing whatever you’re listening to, but in reality, others can’t hear anything. And that’s pretty true even when I cranked the volume. If you’re old enough to remember the joys of having a diskman and those classic old style headphones that sat over your ears, then you remember how you could hear everything someone was listening to if they had the volume up past midway. These do not have the same effect. Yes a little, but I had to have the volume so loud it actually wasn’t pleasant for me either. I will say, I have smaller than most ears, and I think the fit isn’t exactly perfect for me, but they still fit fine. The heavy back that hangs over the ears holds everything in place even though they feel a little loose. But I put them to the ultimate test running on a busy street and even with the steps, the headphones never fell off. At first it felt like they might fall off, but after a while I knew they wouldn’t and I didn’t notice them bouncing or moving at all. The best part was I could hear all the cars and people around me though. It was so nice to not freak out when a car comes flying by behind me that I didn’t hear coming at all. I could hear every car approach and was able to move to the safer part of the road when needed. If you have ever tried running with noise canceling headphones on, you know what I’m talking about. Now I don’t have to sacrifice audio quality for safety. So about that quality. Like I said, best audio I’ve heard through an open fit design ever. The sound isn’t going to be as full as enclosed headphones or as thick of a low end for sure, but I was really surprised how clean and balanced the sound was. It wasn’t just all highs and tinny, even though the speakers were resting outside my ear. Of course, if I pushed the headphones into my ears, I could hear a more full sound but obviously these aren’t designed for that and I didn't think it was that much worse. Part of that may have to do with the dolby audio option available. You have to make sure your phone or device has dolby as well, and it is on, but once you do the sound quality goes up even more. This was especially true for videos and movies. I loved how clean and immersive the audio felt while watching movies or shows. The dialogue was crisp and the action didn’t sound muddy or weak. OVERALL: I love these shokz open fit 2+ headphones. The audio quality is great for it’s class, the battery life is insanely long, the comfort is unmatched and the design is sleek and well thought out. I love that I can wear these all day and forget they’re on all while having whatever background music or podcast etc I want following me around. They’re great for walking around the house, doing chores, but they’re also fantastic for working out and running on busy streets. The ability to hear all your surroundings while running, shopping, cleaning, etc is so helpful and makes adding a private soundtrack to your day easy and fun. I absolutely love these headphones and would highly recommend them to anyone who needs to be able to hear their surroundings but still want relatively good audio quality.

they work great when they work, I had to replace my original set only a couple of months after my purchase of them, I will say that the replacement procedure was quick and easy. Hopefully my new pair will last much longer than the previous one. So far so good.

Wow. That one word sums up these amazing little open-ear headphones, which produce the best music sound quality I have ever heard from a headphone, especially in the earbud and open-ear category. Add in the fact they are incredibly comfortable and feature a few noteworthy upgrades, like Dolby Audio and wireless charging, and you have a product that is hard to beat. Still, the most remarkable thing about the Shokz OpenFit 2+ is how something this small can sound so great. The first time I tried them I was stunned at the strong bass, crystal clear mids and soaring highs that came out of these things. A very balanced and precise sound, unlike anything I have heard from any other earbud or open-air headphone. This open-ear design is usually a trade off. You get supreme comfort -- I cannot stand having earbuds jammed into my ear canal for any length of time -- but usually have to settle for somewhat lackluster sound quality: It is usually thin, lacks bass and is not quite loud enough. OK for phone calls or podcasts but not great for music. Shokz seems to have solved this problem with its dual driver design. One cranks out clean, solid bass while the other handles the more delicate musical passages. Not only that, these earphones can get very loud, louder than I would ever want to play them. So that shortcoming also has been overcome. To push the sound quality envelope even further, Shokz has also added Dolby Audio support on the plus model, which provides a much wider sound field when using Bluetooth devices that support Dolby, and full immersive cinematic Dolby sound effects when watching movies. I was surprised that this actually did improve the sound quality even more, even on music that is not Dolby encoded. But it is user optional. You can turn if off, using the app, if you prefer straight audio. (It does drain the battery faster when turned on) Another big plus is a physical control button, which you can also customize to do whatever you want via the app. You are no longer stuck with just finicky touch controls that never seem to do what you want. Or you hit accidentally. You still have to deal with learning they whole multiple press or press-and-hold combinations that are necessary since there is only one button. But this makes the user experience a lot better. Battery life also has been improved compared to some earlier versions, with up to 11 hours from the built-in battery and 48 hours using the standalone case to recharge the earphones. Also new is the wireless charging capabilities of the case itself, assuming you already have a Qi-certified wireless charger. (If not, the earphones come with a short USB C cable for wired charging via the case). Of course the other great advantage of the open-ear design is you always maintain situational awareness. You can hear what's going on around you just as easily as if you were not wearing any headphones at all. And that's a lot safer, or perhaps just more convenient, depending on your situation. The now-familiar ear-hook design keeps the earphones in place, even doing exercise and have marginal resistance to dirt, sweat and light rain. But they are not waterproof. IP 55 rated for all you geeks out there. My only gripe with the OpenFit 2+ concerns the many hoops you must jump through to get the app up and running. There is the usual registration nonsense, establish name and password, wait for the Shokz web site to send you a verification (which is all timed for some reason and if you don't do it fast enough, you have to start over). Even worse, you then have to find and punch in the long serial number (tiny type on a small card that comes with the device) before the app will work. This is really annoying and unnecessary. I wish companies stop doing this. The app is not required to setup and use the headphones but you still should make sure to download it, since that it is the only way to get firmware updates, which is required right away (pretty much the norm with any new product). The app also allows you to shape the sound with an equalizer, turn Dolby Audio on (it is off by default) , and customize how the control button works. Bottom line: If music quality and supreme comfort are important to you, you don't need to look any further than the Shokz OpenFit 2+ headphone. This is about as good as it gets in the open ear universe.

Bought a new pair. Put them on full volume to cut the front yard and when lawn mower started, I could not hear any music. I realize it lays on the ear but it allows too much outside noise that drowns out the music. I returned mine.

I own the first generation Open fit air and was quite impressed with fit and quality but I had not utilized consistently. They simply were too quiet for use in loud areas such as the gym. The new model is somewhat louder and can be used in a moderately loud gym. There are many upgrade from the earlier model including a better case as well as a great blue gray color. The sound quality and bass have improved as well. The grilling is more open. The over the ear hook works well and is quite comfortable on the ear. The case is more compact. There is a nice physical button on each bud and this can be programmed. There is good tactile feedback on the button which is positioned to the top not the side where it could be accidentally. There is also a programable (default is off) lateral senor which can be utilized. The app is excellent and simple and quickly found and updated the OpenFit 2s. The bluetooth chip is upgraded and the battery life is very good. A single bud can be used if in a crowded area.
