Audio Quality
I listen to a lot of music, videos, and audiobooks on my phone so it’s important for me to have decent quality earbuds. The OpenFit Air earbuds by Shokz offer good audio for the media I listen to. My biggest complaint is about phone call quality - callers couldn’t hear me very well and said I sounded far away or not loud enough. I also could really only hear the callers when I had my volume all the way up. I tested this on phone calls as well as WhatsApp calls. I ended up having to disable the earbuds for calls, it was a bit inconvenient.
Comfort & Fit
These Shokz earbuds loop around the top of your ear and the speaker piece is an open-ear design where it hovers over the ear, unlike typical in-ear earbuds. These earbuds feel secure while wearing them, especially while moving around, making these the most secure earbuds I own. My skin and ears are sensitive so it’s hard to find earbuds that are comfortable. The open-ear design is nice because I no longer get tenderness in the opening of my ear canal like with in-ear buds. However, now the top of my ear experiences tenderness because of how the loop sits on my ear. If you don’t have sensitive ears, you may not experience the same discomfort. For example, I gave these to my husband and they don’t bother him at all.
Connectivity & Battery Life
Connecting via Bluetooth is fast and I even easily switched connections between two phones. Battery life has been good so far, I’ve only charged it once and used it for a few days so I anticipate being able to use them throughout the week and charge them on Sundays before the start of the work week.
Overall
The good things about these earbuds are features I already expect to work well and I do like the open-ear concept. Personally, I can’t get past the poor phone call quality I experienced. I didn’t enjoy these earbuds as much as I’d hoped. My husband tried them out and liked them so he is happy to keep them.

Received my Shokz earbuds and they arrived wonderfully packaged. Box is shrink wrapped so you know they are new and unopened. Good quality black case which is magnetic so when you put the earbuds inside it grabs them and holds firmly in place. Also included is a small USB-C charging cable and an instruction booklet. My earbuds were both already charged at 100% but the case was at 50% so I started charging it.
Before wearing I downloaded the Shokz app and created an account. It then registered my earbuds. In the app you'll find 4 EQ modes ~ Standard, Vocal, Bass Boost and Treble Boost. Also the battery life is displayed for each earbud and the case. I really like that feature!
I listened to music and they sounded really awesome! No distortion at all switching between the various EQ settings. I mainly use these for speaking on calls and they immediately attached to the Bluetooth on my iPhone. The Vocal setting was the best for that and listeners stated they heard me loud and clear. Not fuzzy at all. Same with what I could hear ~ just perfect. The Standard mode is fine for all around listening and that's the default setting when you receive them. There are other various settings in the easy to use app so it's a users choice which they would like.
I found these earbuds to be extremely comfortable. Because they don't have to fit inside your ears and have wraps that go around your ears, they stay on nicely and I can wear them for hours with no discomfort whatsoever. Great battery life too!
All in all I highly recommend the Shokz OpenFit Air earbuds. I'm so pleased with mine and they definitely earn a 5+ star rating. I LOVE THEM!

The Shokz OpenFit Air is a nice pair of headphone for day to day comfortable use.
Unpacking and build quality: Comes in a charging case, with a small USB C to A charging cable and a small manual. Charging case holds the open fit air headphones, is a bit larger in size compared to other brands but that is due to the size of the earbuds. build quality is solid.
Fit and wear: The ear buds are very comfortable to wear and feels very light weight. you have to slide gently over the ear flap and it has a nice rubber lever kind of that is almost weightless. after a few minutes I don't feel that I am even wearing. I wear spectacles and my specs also sits comfortable over it. I have not issue with that but that may be personal comfort for the person wearing it.
Sound, call quality, features and battery backup: These have great great battery back up. and the charging case provide additional juice. Can be paired with 2 devices and ability to switch seamlessly. sound is great and I can not go beyond 30-40% of the volume because it will become very loud. the music sounds very rich and with good bass. The iPhone app provide some additional customization and equalizer modes. although I feel it could have more features in the Eq.
Incoming and outgoing calls are sounding clear and both person can hear. Although they are open ear design but I can comfortably hear in the loud/noisy environment and the other end of person hear almost no background noise.
The only thing I feel that at this time the charging case should have been wireless charging capability.
Overall these are a great pair of comfortable earbuds by Shokz.

The Shokz OpenFit Air Open-Ear True Wireless Earbuds are a game-changer in the wireless audio space. As someone who values both sound quality and situational awareness, these earbuds hit the perfect balance.
Sound Quality: The audio clarity is superb, with crisp highs and balanced mids, while the open-ear design delivers a surprising level of bass without compromising on external awareness. The sound feels immersive without blocking the environment, making it ideal for outdoor runs, cycling, or even casual office wear.
Comfort: These earbuds are so lightweight and comfortable that I often forget I’m wearing them. Unlike in-ear buds that can cause discomfort after prolonged use, the OpenFit design sits gently on the ear, making them perfect for all-day wear.
Connectivity and Features: Pairing is a breeze, and the connection remains stable even when I’m moving around. The touch controls are intuitive and responsive, allowing easy access to volume, tracks, and calls. The battery life is excellent, giving me several hours of continuous use without needing a recharge.
Durability: With their sleek black design, these earbuds are not only stylish but also sturdy. The sweat and water resistance is a bonus, especially during workouts.
Overall, the Shokz OpenFit Air is a fantastic investment for anyone looking for high-quality, comfortable, and versatile earbuds. Whether you’re an athlete, a commuter, or someone who just enjoys great music, these earbuds won’t disappoint!

Much more comfortable vs other earbuds I've used. Decent sound quality as well and batteries have a solid lifespan before they need to be recharged. Hang on more securely as well in comparison to smaller ones that go directly into the ear.

Comfort is great for me, as I prefer not having something jammed into my ear channel. These stay in place for me and don't pop out or off when moving my jaw. Only down side was they did not work independently. Sound was clear and very pleasant. Longer battery life than I expected.

I've owned the Shokz OpenFit for a few months now. I use it for gym, work and running.
Gym: i turn the volume up to full blast, as i dont want to hear the gym pmatlist or the grunting creatine monsters next to me. Works like a charm. Especially enjoy tje skip function. The sauna also sees my earphones for 20 minutes every morning. When the sauna is over 180 degrees, the earphones turns off after about 10 minutes. I have not bothered to check the temperature limits of these earphones. I often lock my phone in the presswood lockers and Connectivity remains perfect as long as i am in.line of sight. (Big metal machines, walls or glass walls interrupts the Connectivity. )
Work: i am a general contractor, so the earphones sees dust and rain often. (I live in Oregon). I appreciate the pause function to chat with employees, clients etc and then continue without hassle. Wet gloves or fingers are a bit of a challenge to use the tap functions, but then the back of my hand works great. I use these inside over-ear protection or with in-ear earplugs and the sounds remains amazing in both cases.
I ofthen place my phone in one room on-site and move between rooms or sawing stations outside. Connectivity remains flawless. Going up or down stairs or into a car while the phone remains in the house, is a challenge.
Running: not usi g them at full blast, enabling me to hear traffic well. I am not an avid runner, but i have yet to miss an important sound (other runners, cars, dogs) in my surrounds.
I have yet to deplete the batteries in a day.
Even better if:
1. the earphones does not have a skip back (rewind) function. That would have been great.
2. I am not sure how to answer a phone call yet ... wouldve loved if ot was as simple as tpuching one of the earbuds, bit alas, it didn't work for me. Guess i will have to read the instructions.
Hi there- Shokz here! We're glad to hear you're loving your OpenFit Air. Saunas can reach very high temperatures, which can negatively affect the glue holding the headphones together and potentially damage the battery. While the OpenFit Air are water-resistant (IP54), they are not waterproof for submersion and prolonged exposure to steam and moisture in a sauna could cause issues. We do not recommend not using their headphones in a sauna, showering, or exposing them to heat sources.
To Answer Call: Double-tap either earbud End Call: Double-tap either earbud Reject Call: Long-press either L or R when receiving a call

Fairly comfortable and better audio quality than my previous Shokz Aerofit. Takes some time getting used to the controls, but they work well. Connects to bluetooth super fast and the battery life is very good, a full workday of listening easy. The battery case has magnets to hold the buds in place while charging so they won't fall out easily if dropped. Best of all, you can hear everything else, as they don't block your ear canals like regular earbuds, so you can hear the wife and baby crying.

This new Shokz open fit air wireless headphones are good for working out, running or just to be use while making a phone call other than that I won’t be using them for my commute or to just listening my playlist music since the sounds doesn’t meet my expectations . The earbuds are light , comfortable to use, stay in place while working out, and so far, it’s sweat proof but not sure if it is waterproof since it doesn’t specifically mention it on the box or manual. The battery life is good, it last me almost all day during my working out, making phone calls and it charged up fast enough for me to use them again. The Shokz app is just for basic settings, nothing else but monitoring your earbuds and case charge status,EQ modes and to set up multipoint pairing, that’s all, but you can use the earbuds without the app if you like. The earbuds are perfect for those that wants their headphones to stay in place while working out, doesn’t want those earbuds inside their ears or just want to use them for phone calls or office. The one thing that this earbuds falls short is the quality of the sound is not as great as I would expect, the max volume is very low, barely any bass even though you can set the EQ modes on the app, the sound quality is just flat. The noise cancellation is good but while listening to music you can still hear noise out there even on phone calls, not a bad thing if you’re using the earbuds while driving or riding a bike. The multi pairing is ok with the help of the app, but not really a necessity if you just use it with your phone.

The Shokz OpenFit Air is an exciting leap forward in open-ear audio, bringing you a richer, fuller sound experience that surpasses earlier models. From the moment you take them out of the box, the improvements are clear—enjoy deeper bass, well-balanced mids and highs, and a listening experience that feels beautifully immersive, all while keeping your ears open to the world around you. Whether you’re taking a call, vibing to your favorite songs, or staying alert during a workout, you’re bound to be truly impressed by the outstanding sound quality.
With all the latest open-ear technology, these earbuds are a joy to use. Their lightweight design and open-ear fit allow you to stay aware of your surroundings while indulging in a surprisingly rich audio experience. Calls are crystal clear, and the upgraded driver technology ensures that everything from podcasts to your go-to playlists sounds better than ever. If you can snag these for under $100, they offer fantastic value, especially for anyone who enjoys being tuned in without losing touch with their environment.
However, my wife and I have found that the fit can be a bit of a challenge—it doesn’t quite feel secure enough for all-day wear. While they’re pretty comfortable, they don’t sit as snugly as we’d prefer, making them less ideal for more active use. We both lean towards the Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 Mini for a snugger fit that maintains comfort. But if you find that the OpenFit Air fits you just right, it’s an incredible upgrade with remarkable sound quality—definitely worth a try to ensure they stay in place!

Best design for non in ear people. The app helps you control how you want to hear what you are listening to. Able to use one earpiece or both. Does not move around when walking running or just moving you head. My wifewould not try them because of her not liking anything in her ear. I finally got my wife try them and she wanted a pair. Best thing about the design is, no irritation. Just great sound and comfort.

I absolutely love these. I am not a fan of the headphones that go inside your ear and you can hear perfectly fine! You can lower the volume where you can hear what is going on around you if you wish or turn it up where it feels like everything in the outside like if it was inside your ear. I often take calls and these are great for that too. No complains. The battery life is AMAZING. 10 minutes and they are fully charged! I honestly do not talk about them with anyone because I have to gatekeep these! I dont want the price to go up! HAHA I wish I wouldve bought the brown/beige ones but I chose white.

What I like the most about these are light weight and great battery life. The are comfortable to wear and good for listening to music, but not in the noise environment as they are open ear design and does not have noise cancellation.
The call quality is just average and sometimes scratchy. I use these with iPhone 13 and my Mac. These seamlessly switch between the two device without any problems, The app offers little functionality but overall the headphones are just plug and play.
Their drawback is that they remain connected even if you remove them (but do not keep them in the charging case). It could be a nice functionality like apple air pods that if you remove them they disconnect and paste the music.
Overall these are good for music and okay for calls in normal environment.

I was really excited to try these headphones. I have never been able to find comfortable earphones because they hurt my ears. These, however, are extremely comfortable and super easy to put on and secure.
The storage/charging case is conveniently small and simple without any controls. The big hang up came when I tried to read the instructions and infographic. The font was way too small to read!!!! They can give me instructions in twelve languages but they can’t use a few square centimeters of paper to make instructions legible. Took a picture of instructions so I could enlarge them to read!!! The infographic not much better as implied there were actual “buttons” on the outside of the earphones. So, to pair, either open the case OR firmly press both earphones as they sit in the case until the lights flash alternate colors.
Now, once I figured it out, it was simple to pair to my phone, tv and desktop. Sweet! I am really excited about using them with my tv as I can watch without disturbing others in the room. Husband says he can’t hear the audio when sitting near me, so that is really the best!

Open-fit headphones are a great idea, and this execution is a wo derful example. Perfect for "work from home" techies. Great for wandering the cityscape or countryside while remaining in touch with whatever is around you. No harsh tones as a podcast listening headset, and you have hours of listening opportunity.

As the title suggests, these are easily my favorite earbuds to date. And why is it that I think such? Well, these rest over your outer ear as opposed to being inserted, which is important in my case, since I have sensitive ear canals due to a surgery I had when I was but a wee lad. In other words, I can comfortably wear these for as long as they have juice. In-ear earbuds really irritate my ear canals by comparison. Add that with the overall fit/finish, the nifty little touch controls, and the overall sound quality, and you arrive at a stellar product, in my opinion. Speaking of sound quality (arguably the most important aspect of listening devices); it is quite good, maybe even shockingly so for such tiny speakers, while still allowing the wearer to be aware of their surroundings. I guess if I had name drawbacks to these earbuds, it would be that the battery life isn't exactly stellar, only decent, and that the price might seem a bit steep to some at 120 dollars. Personally, I think they're well worth the asking price (I took the plunge on a sale, hah). Overall, I'm quite pleased with this kind of sorta impulse buy. These are as good as they get.

These are the best earbuds on the market!! I LOVE how they fit. I didn't care for the ones that actually go inside of the ear opening. These just rest on the outside of the ear. The sound is superior compared to what's out on the market right now. I would buy AND recommend this to ANYONE in the market for new bluetooth ear buds!

These fit perfectly for these who wear glasses. Comfortable & great sound quality. Battery life Lasts Lasts all day! Plus, they allow me to hear everything around.

I am a licensed mental health counselor, and spend all day on my computer or phone conducting telehealth therapy sessions. Due to this, I wear earbuds ALL DAY LONG. it is very important that the earbuds I use be comfortable and allow my clients to hear me clearly (and I can hear them).
I have literally tried 10-15 different ear bud brands/models throughout the five years that I’ve been working remotely. Throughout this time, I have become increasingly irritated with ear buds that go into my ear — so I have been searching for an over-the-ear ear bud for about a year. I previously bought (and subsequently returned the more expensive Shokz earbuds but ultimately decided that the performance of that product did not justify the higher cost. However, they were adequate. Once I saw that they released a lower priced model, I thought it would be worth a try.
I have been using these earbuds daily for over a month and am pretty satisfied with their performance. The sound is clear (although I tend to use them on the highest volume setting so I guess it would be nice if they were louder). They connect flawlessly to both my laptop and my phone — as I often switch back and forth. Most ear buds can only connect to one device at a time.
Although the Shokz app allows you to customize some of the settings, the touch feature is somewhat limited in what it can do. The only other cons are: they fit a little loose and sometimes get knocked off my head; they lack a locating feature (such as “find my phone” compatibility or “Tile” integration); and lack voice command options. My previous favorite earbuds were the Beats (with the ear hook as regular earbuds do not stay in my ear). However, since I prefer not to have something in my ear canal all day (as it starts to feel icky after a few hours), these earbuds are now my favorite.

The Shokz OpenFit Air Earbuds are not the usual Bone Conduction headphones Shokz offers. They use DirectPitch to aim the sound into your ear while being open. The are lightweight and designed to slide over your ear with the sound transmitted aimed at the middle of your ear. They have Bluetooth (BT) 5.2, are IP54, and are rated for a 7 hours of listening. The batteries can be recharged to full in an hour in the case and the case holds up to 28 total hours of charging. A 5 minute charge should provide an hour of listening. It take about 2 hours to fully charge the case. You can also do multipoint pairing using the Shokz app. In the box you get the Earbuds, charging case, a USB-C to USB-A charging cable, and instructions.
After charging, setup is easy. Just open the case and your ready to pair. For subsequent pairings press both earpieces at once in the case and you can pair to a different device. The Shokz app adds more features and functions, but is not needed to use the product. It pairs like any other BT device. The earbuds slip over your ear and then you rotate them back slipping the earpiece into your ear. The earpieces also house the microphone and have touch controls. I had issues here. I don’t know if it’s the size or shape of my ear, but it never quite fit in right. I’ve used devices in the ear before and never had a problem. I could not get the earpiece to stay in a good position. So, everything sounded faint/far away. Music and voice came through, but not like it was right there. I could force it in a better position, and it sounded better, but it would not stay there. When using the earphones on a phone or computer, my voice was described as tinny. That may also have been because they didn’t seat right in my ear and were in a bad position.
The Shokz app allows you to do some equalizing. You have the choices of regular, bass, Treble and Voice. Bass didn’t add that much, and muffled the sound. Treble dropped the bass really well and let higher notes shine. Voice did make calls clearer. But, for me it was all a little distant sounding. When I forced them into a better position it sounded better in all settings. Independent pairing of the earpiece is easy through the app and each piece can connect to a different device at the same time. Hearing ambient sound was not obstructed and I could easily hear what was going on around me. For touch controls, the left is previous track and right next track. Double tapping either is play/pause. For phone calls, either left or right double tap answers and ends the call, tap and hold rejects a call. Using the tap area was easy and worked fine. You can also customize what tapping does in the app.
The Openfit will seem to work well if they fit your ears right. They did not for me, and therefor everything sounded distant. If you can, try them first to make it easier to decide whether or not to buy them. If they fit correctly it seems like it would be a lot better. I tried the way in the manual and pictures on the Shokz website, but they never fit quite right, so the sound was off for me.
