Hi there- Shokz here. We're very sorry to hear this has been your experience. We highly recommend upgrading to the latest firmware version for the best experience with your OpenFit. There is also a phone setting that may resolve the low volume issue. -On the iPhone, go to Settings > Sound & Haptics > Headphone Safety, make sure that the Reduce Loud Audio Feature is switched off as this will affect the volume of the headphone. -On an Android, go to the Bluetooth Settings on the phone, find the headphone and make sure that the Absolute Volume feature is switched on for it. If you decide these are not a good fit for you, we kindly ask that you reach out to BestBuy to learn of their return policy. Thank you! AfterShokzCHT

Does not sit well in the ear. side to side movement they move. Sound quality in a quiet environment is good but in a loud environment you turn up the volume and battery life does not last over one or two hours depending on the volume setting.

I wasn't sure what I was getting into with these, but I knew I didn't love the all-day comfort of in ear buds and I needed to hear what was going on around me. I wanted to try something that might be more comfortable to wear all day and keep me more engaged with the people around me. These buds check those boxes. As far as comfort goes, these are easily the most comfortable buds I've ever worn. I really can't even feel them once they are on. They sit nicely over the ear canal. The little arm that goes behind the ear is flexible and really soft to the feel. I forget they are on. At the same time, they are super secure. You can easily use them while working or exercising without worrying about them slipping out. You can head bang in these things, and they won’t move. I didn’t know what to expect on sound. I had read that you really can’t get a great sound without a sealed, in ear bud. While I agree that my high end in ear buds do produce a higher quality sound, especially in the lower range, these buds sound really good for something that isn’t “in” you ear. I was able to overwhelm them and create distortion when I maxed them out on some bass heavy music. In reality, I’d never listen to them that loud, so I don’t think it’s a problem, but you should know that the firmware isn’t quite up to the task of managing thumping bass at high volume. That may come along with updates over time. Even if it never changes, it’s really not a problem for me. Side note, it is possible for people near you to hear something coming from the buds in a quiet environment if you have them cranked up. Just worth being aware of. One thing I want to point out about phone calls. For whatever reason, my cell did not automatically accept the call through the buds. I had to click the audio button and tell it to use the Shokz. I’m not blaming Shokz for this, just making you aware. I’m not quite sure why it didn’t auto switch the call audio to the buds considering that I was listening to music when the call came in, so I was obviously connected to the phone. Not a huge deal, but something worth noting if you run into that problem. I love that I don’t lose situational awareness with these buds. I have some really expensive in ear buds with pass through technology that allow ambient sound in if I choose. While they do help, they are nothing compared to what you get with these Shokz since they aren’t in your ears at all. You can really hear everything. I can hear my keyboard clicks just fine while I sit here and type this review. Fully aware of my surroundings. That makes these great for work. I don’t end up looking like I’m ignoring someone who pops into my office to say hello when I’m focused on a computer screen. My wife loves them for her job as well. She works on a farm and can listen to music while having full blown conversations with her fellow farmhands. For obvious reasons, you aren’t going to have noise cancelling, but that’s not what these are designed to do. Setup was super easy. They where in pairing mode as soon as I opened the case. My mobile found them immediately and hooked right up. I then downloaded the Shokz app and it found the buds immediately. The app had me run a firmware update that took about 5 minutes and I was up and running. There are a few EQ options in the software. I think the standard preset is the best for general music listening. The Bass Boost feels muddy to me. Treble Boost feels very tinny. The Vocal preset seems like it would be good for listening to an audio book or talking on the phone. I ultimately created my own custom EQ setup that suited my taste. As I said above, you can overpower these buds, but if you set your own EQ and don’t run your mobile at max volume, you can get surprisingly great sound for this style of bud. You can also set up the touch function features through the app. I like to set the double tap on either ear at pause/play, and a tap and hold on the right to be volume up with left to be volume down. You don’t have a lot of options, but you can pick from a few tap option presets. I do wish the tap and hold reacted more quickly. You have to hold it for what feels like a long time before it starts changing the volume. The case is simple enough. It’s slightly bigger than in ear cases because of the part that goes behind your ear. That said, it isn’t too big. I actually like it because it is more like a flat rounded corner square and sits in your pocket less conspicuously than the chunky rectangular cases of many brands. Battery life is awesome. I haven’t come close to draining them fully, and they quick charge to like an hour of listening time in something like 5 minutes. Overall, I really like these buds. They are incredibly comfortable and have really good sound quality for this type of device. You can peak them out, so don’t think you are going to blast music at unsafe levels and still be happy with the quality. They aren’t cheap, but if you want something with good sound that still lets you be fully engaged with your surroundings, these are a great option to consider.

    Horrible Battery Life

Horrible battery life! Not even a month old and they are dead if I leave off charger a few days. The case does not hold a charge, it will be at 100% and after one hour off the charge it is 90%. Then who knows how the earbuds themselves with no use drain to zero in just a few days. Very annoyed and disappointing to spend this much money and encounter dead earbuds when I need to use them!
