Can you be blown away by bone conduction?

I've seen and heard the bone conduction headphones in the past, and listened to Shokz, Bose, and Sony's for a long time. The OpenRun Pro 2's (regular and mini) are amazing. The minis are comfortable around my ears and are not very heavy. The key to these headphones vs. the original OpenRun Pro (or any other non-Shokz headphones) is that these include a traditional speaker for sound in the lower frequencies (think bass) via a woofer. Previous versions of these would rattle or vibrate excessively against your head as it tried to produce bass via bone conduction. It would eventually give people headaches. My wife didn't like the original pair, but I purchased these and the rattling vibration is completely gone. What you do get is a decent lasting battery, comfortable sitting, and an unobtrusive pair of headphones with excellent sound and yet you can carry a conversation on with people around you. After having these for a while, I would not hesitate in recommending Shokz 2's to anyone who loves quality audio, good quality devices with sound control for running or any other athletic activity (except swimming, check out the Shokz OpenSwim)

Love these headphones. Upgraded from the OpenRun Pro to those for a race and loved the smaller version for a tighter fit and less slack around the back of my head. Sound is crystal clear and still allows for you to be aware of your surroundings.

Perfect For Everyday Wear Without Ear Pain

After less than a month with the Shokz OpenRun SE, I upgraded to the OpenRun Pro 2. I am so glad I did because the sound quality and volume are so much better. I like how in noisy areas, I can max the volume without the speakers vibrating. I can wear these all day without aches and pain in my ear. The one issue I have, which brings the rating down to a 4 from a 5, is the wrap around head piece (not sure what's it's called). It's too short to fully wrap around my neck when I take the headphones down off my ears. I understand this is the mini version. The OpenRun SE I had prior was the standard version and it was too long. Laying down with them on was a problem for me. If there was a way for Shokz to make the wrap around adjustable, then I think these headphones would be perfect.

Almost perfect! I work remotely and use them all day without having to take them off. They are comfortable and great sound quality. Good battery life. The only problem I have is the multi-point connection. When I’m listening to the primary device it switches to the other even when I have the 2nd device on hold. I tried all the recommended fixes and it didn’t work.

These really are great at what they are designed for. If you're looking for audiophile worthy sound, then this is obviously not what you want. But, if you are looking for an extremely comfortable (like...don't even know they're there) set of headphones for exercise, especially outdoor exercise, these are it. The classic bone-conduction only mode is really not very good sound quality. But, the standard mode, which supplements bone conduction with open-ear speaker, is actually really beautiful. As I jog along listening to my music in perfect, rich clarity, I can also hear the birds chirping in the trees. Kind of incredible, and much safer for outdoor exercise.

These have good sound for bone conducting headphones. The microphone quality is very good. They stay in place well and the battery lasts a very long time. I highly recommend these headphones.

I’ve been using the Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 Mini for a few weeks now and I’m really impressed. The sound quality is noticeably better than previous bone conduction models—there’s actually some decent bass now! The Mini size fits my head perfectly and stays in place, even during runs or workouts. I love the open-ear design—it keeps me aware of my surroundings without sacrificing audio quality. Battery life is great, and I’m so glad they finally switched to USB-C charging. My only small complaint is that the mic could be clearer on calls, but for music and podcasts, these are absolutely worth it. If you’re active and want headphones that keep you safe and comfortable, these are a solid choice.

Love These Headphones – Comfortable and Reliable

The SHOKZ OpenRun 2 headphones are extremely comfortable. Unlike my previous in-ear headphones, which were easy to lose, these don’t go inside your ear. You can hear your surroundings while listening, and if you want, you can increase the volume for more isolation. Even when talking with background noise, they block external sounds well. The orange color is exactly as pictured and described. They’re comfortable for everyday use, easy to connect to any device, and perfect for work. I’ve used them for over six months, and our family now owns three pairs—one for each member. It’s important to choose the right size: mini or standard. The mini works best for us, while the standard may feel large depending on personal comfort. Overall, I really like these headphones and highly recommend them.

These headphones are great, especially for driving since they don't block all the outside noise, so you can hear emergency vehicles approaching. They sat on your head during any physical activities that you might be participating in. They're comfortable to wear for 10-12 hours a day. Long talk time before having to recharge.

I bought these to use while sleeping. Sound quality is great and I can sleep for hours without any discomfort. I can barely feel them on and I have no problem hearing other sounds. Due to the sounds quality, I now use them for watching tv and gaming as well, as the battery life is insanely awesome! Watch tv and game for a couple of hours followed by 10+ hours sleeping and battery life is still medium. I rarely use the microphone (gaming), so I don't know how much heavy use has on battery life. Using the Shokz app, it can be paired to two devices at the same time. Very cool feature, I can change settings via the phone app while still listening to the tv/game.

I bought these initially to go cycling, I wanted to listen to podcasts and audiobooks while still being able to hear everything around me. I own a pair of Apple AirPod Pro 2’s and they were alright in transparency mode but not quite the same as open ear headphones. Since I got these, I haven’t used my AirPods again. I love them for biking, they fit over my ears with my glasses and helmet no problem. Whenever I wear in-ear headphones I always have to adjust them periodically, and that is gone with these headphones, I wear them for hours and only occasionally remember they’re there, which is great for doing chores around the house or when working at my desk. The sound quality is acceptable to me, I don’t have any complaints (but I’m also not very picky.) One note for anyone on the edge, my local BestBuy had display units in store to try these out to gauge the fit and sound quality for yourself, which is was pushed me over the edge to buy them.

I use these for my disabled child while on long car rides to Cleveland Clinic. They are small enough that I can just keep them in the van with out taking up much space. Good battery life, & they do not go over his ears so its easier for him to hear his mother or me if we need to talk to him. With his over ear headphones. He would have a obvious head band mark going over the top of his head. So now his Mother does not have to mess with his hair since this goes over the back.

The Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 Mini delivers an outstanding combination of comfort, safety, and performance. The bone conduction technology allows me to enjoy music and calls while staying fully aware of my surroundings—a must for running or cycling outdoors. The Mini version is a perfect fit if you prefer a slightly smaller frame; it sits securely without shifting, even during long workouts. They’re incredibly lightweight, and after a few minutes, you barely notice you’re wearing them. Sound quality is excellent for bone conduction—clear mids, balanced bass (noticeably deeper than older Shokz models), and crisp vocals. While it won’t match in-ear monitors for deep bass, the tradeoff for situational awareness is well worth it. Battery life is also impressive, easily lasting through long runs or a full day of casual use. The quick-charge feature is convenient if you forget to top up before heading out. Another plus is the open-ear design, which prevents ear fatigue and discomfort, making them ideal for extended use. They’re also sweat-resistant, so no worries during intense training.

This will be our second pair of these headphones. These are the Mini versions for my wife as they fit her better, but the feature set is the same across normal and Mini versions. The sound quality is fantastic for their purpose. Much better low-end than the previous iteration, although that is because they now have dual drivers to not only rely on bone-conduction. Overall, if the previous gen tickled too much because of the bone conduction, these will likely resolve that. And as a pro, you can switch these back to only utilizing bone conduction if you really want that. Battery life is really good, but it likely won’t be as good as some other headphones like the Beats Pro 2

Great product and thoroughly enjoy wearing them for physical activities or around the home completing chores. The sound quality is surprisingly decent considering the design vs in or over ear design. There are trade offs but the trade offs are worth it, to me, personally. Battery life exceeds expectations, sound quality is great but not black magic amazing, comfort is amazing, controls are easy to navigate. Overall, yes, I highly recommend these if you can sacrifice sound quality for comfort and peace of mind when exercising.
