These OpenRun Pro 2 from Shokz are very lightweight with a minimalistic design. They’re comfortable to wear, even with sunglasses or a bike helmet. They’ve stayed in place securely in position while I walk, run, bike, etc. There’s no uncomfortable squeezing or bouncing/shifting around. Pairing was very easy, and the button layout is intuitive. The headphones support multi-point pairing (connecting to multiple devices simultaneously), but I had to install the Shokz app and enable this feature in the settings before using it. The app also allows for adjusting the EQ settings. Conveniently, there is a USB-C port for charging, so I can use the same cord as other devices and not have to worry about a proprietary connector. The open-ear design is great for running or any other activity where you need to be able to hear what’s going on around you. I also find it more comfortable than having something in my ear, especially for longer runs. As far as sound quality goes, these have come a long way from the first generation of open-ear headphones, and I was pleasantly surprised about how good music sounded through them. Overall, these are a great way to add music to my workouts, and I’m happy with them.

Comfortable powerful headphones for active runners

Bluetooth headphones are a must for the active runner, and it doesn't hurt to show a little style and comfort as well. Shokz introduces the OpenRun Pro 2 Series headphones, utilizing bone conduction technology with an open ear design that provides the secure fit and premium sound to keep your head and mind focused on what's important - the run. Boxed in fully-recyclable packaging, the OpenRun Pro 2 Series headset is compact and light. The included hard-shell zippered case is larger than most headphones cases, but it provides exceptional protection and even holds an included USB-C cable when not in use. The band that sits around the back of the head is round, thin but sturdy, and coated in a water-resistant soft, rubberized surface. It charges quickly through a waterproof USB-C port, and the surface features only three minimal-focused buttons whose various long and short presses control the volume, navigation, and connectivity of the device. The battery lasts a while, with the automated voice telling you your battery level each time you turn on the headset. Shokz really makes sure the OpenRun Pro 2 provides comfort above all else. Hooked over the top of the ears, the headphones are feather light and only noticeable by the slight press of the device near, but not inside, the ears. It wraps pretty perfectly around my head, but the headset only bends and does not adjust bigger or smaller, so it may not be as snug as my experience for different sized heads. At any rate, I love the fit and it really provides comfort and security over the long haul. Whether it be long distance running or short interval sprinting, the OpenRun Pro 2 headphones stayed in place nicely through all the sweaty, sticky sessions during this humid, sweltering summer and under some heavy, swirling rains during a few runs. While the device goes largely unnoticed due to the comfortable fit, what's not inconspicuous is the big sound from an out-of-ear device. It has great highs and lows that you can really feel. It's a surprising, well-developed sound when compared to other similar bone conduction headsets that don't quite hit. Even podcasts and audiobooks sound great with the OpenRun Pro 2 Series headphones. When you're an active runner, the last thing you want to worry about is messing around with your headset. Shokz takes away the fuss with the OpenRun Pro 2 Series headphones that provide a comfortable, secure, and powerful audio experience. Make your run more enjoyable with this awesome headset.

Wonderful choice for running or cycling

The last headphones that I had that were similar to these were the original “Titanium” product in around 2016 and I hadn’t paid any attention to their later products until now. These OpenRun Pro 2 headphones, while definitely similar to the originals, are a huge improvement and I hope to be using them regularly for both running and cycling. They are very compact and light, and the part that wraps around my head is less obtrusive than before. My wife found that the band sticks out too much for comfort, but that is why they have the “mini” variation. The controls are minimal and easy to use. I especially like that they have an actual button for multi-function (play/pause/skip etc.) control. I’ve found that earbuds with touch-sensitive controls are difficult to operate, especially when doing something active, and I have probably cut off more than one incoming call because of it! The audio performance is pretty amazing considering how they work. From my standpoint it sounds just like the sound is coming from outside of my ears, yet there is very little sound “bleed” that someone nearby would hear. I had no adverse sensations from the bone-conduction technology and overall these are a lot more comfortable than having earbuds stuck in my ears. They also won’t pop out or require frequent readjustment to stay put. The OpenRun Pro can be paired with multiple devices, and has a “multipoint” feature that lets it pair with two devices at once. I haven’t found a use for multipoint but did pair it with my Pixel 8 smartphone as well as my Garmin smartwatch. Audio performance was excellent from both sources. There is a Shokz app that is an important companion to the headphones as it is the only way to access various advanced functions such as an equalizer. I found that using the Bass Boost setting improved things when listening to music. There is also a Vocal setting for optimizing the sound when listening to podcasts or audio books. In addition to their stated intention for running, I find these to be great for cycling, which is how I discovered the original Titanium product in the first place. It can be really important to maintain one’s awareness of the surroundings while cycling, and these headphones allow external sounds to come through without hindrance. Overall a great product that I will be using extensively going forward.

A Huge Upgrade in Bone Conduction Headphones

The Shokz OpenRunPro2 headphones are a major upgrade in the world of bone conduction audio. The most noticeable improvement is the enhanced audio quality, which delivers a richer, more immersive listening experience. And now, when the bass is blasting, it's actually deep bass. They are meticulously balanced for all-day wear, ensuring comfort during extended use, whether you're at work or out for a long run. The volume boost compared to previous models makes it easier to hear in loud environments, a crucial feature for outdoor activities. The shift to USB-C charging from the previous proprietary charger is fantastic. It's one less cable to have to have on my desk. The inclusion of a high-quality carrying case and excellent battery life further enhances the overall user experience, while the removal of annoying talking notifications is a small but appreciated improvement. However, the headphones are not without their flaws. Or really just one single flaw. The multi-point pairing feature, which allows you to connect to multiple devices simultaneously, remains a weak spot. It's difficult to pair it to two devices let alone seamlessly switch back and forth between the two. Despite this, the Shokz OpenRunPro2's strengths far outweigh this shortcoming, making them an excellent choice for anyone seeking high-quality, comfortable, and durable headphones, especially for running or other outdoor activities where being aware of your environment is important. Pros: A huge leap in audio quality Balanced perfectly for all day wear Volume is louder than previous, easier to hear in loud environments USB-C charging instead of their proprietary charger! Great case included Excellent battery life Annoying talking notifications are gone Perfect for runs of all lengths Cons: Multi-point pairing is still bad

Sound quality is poor at best. They would be okay if you only listened to podcast's or audiobooks, but not great for music. Now I’m past the 15 day return limit and when I reached out to shokz they didn’t offer much support besides saying the shape of my head must not be right and now I’m stuck with 180$ headphones I can’t use.

    Incremental Update, yet Greatly Improved

The Shook OpenRun Pro 2 headphones improve on what was already a great set of headphones. The packaging it great and almost completely recyclable. The battery life has increased from 10 to 12 hours. Charge time is just as quick going from empty to full in about an hour. There is a change in quick charging, though, you can now get 1 more hour in a 5 minute charge. 5 minutes of charge will give you 2.5 hours of playback. That is great and makes it easy to use for multiple days. The sound is improved in this version, using Shokz 10th generation bone conduction technology. The open design has always been great and the conduction sound does seem a bit more clear. However, you now get better bass tones with what they are calling DualPitch. This allows for less vibration from the bone conduction by using an “air conduction” speaker. The speaker is positioned to point into your ear and along with the bone conduction provides really great sound. I use these mostly for calls, and now using them with music is good too. The microphones are good enough for my needs. I have no complaints from coworkers and they all say they can hear me clearly. The combination of better sound and better battery life is an upgrade enough, but there is one more thing. It now changes over USB Type C! This was my one complaint with the previous version that used a magnetic charger. Now I don’t need to keep another single use charging cable. Overall, the great sound, being great for workouts and work, having great battery life, and USB Type C charging make this an excellent value.

    Shokz OpenRun Pro 2!

Getting the Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 was my first venture into open ear bone conduction headphones. I was so excited at the idea of not having my ears full of silicone and hardware. When they arrived, I wasn’t expecting the nice case. I love that they are USB-C. My husband has a proprietary port on his. He isn’t a fan of having to take the additional cable when we travel. Putting them on, the sound is great considering it’s not coming from something halfway down my ear canal! It feels awesome to have my ears not stuffed full and yet still have rich sound coming in. What’s even more cool is that I can hear what is going on around me. I wish I had known they had a mini because I think that would have fit me better. Whenever I get used to new ear buds, they always make my ear canals sore. These cause that same soreness in a different part of my ear, the topmost part of the cartilage. They sit outside of my ear pieces from my glasses and rub just a tiny bit. They don’t cause pain, but they just get a bit sore after a long day of wearing them. Another great part about these is how if they get sore, they sit well if I set them around my neck. I can always move them up if I get a call. I think all of this soreness may have been resolved had I got the mini ones instead. I’ve worn these for days and only charged them twice so I would say the battery life fits my needs very well. All in all, I think these are great open ear headphones that give good sound quality while still hearing everything around me.

    Excellent for Runners and more

Bone Conduction technology in a headset. No earbud sticking in your ear uncomfortably, no risk of it falling out and interrupting your run, and a larger item so definitely harder to lose. I have not always been into fitness and running, and I am definitely not your example of a top tier runner. I probably also have a larger frame of body than most, as I used to be over 370 pounds but have lost around 130 in the last few years, and part of that has been running for cardio (in addition to weights and strength training, of course). I run primarily on a treadmill but I do mix in some outdoor runs from time to time and generally aim for 3 to 4 miles at a time. Even when I do a run and then some strength training, workout tends to last no more than an hour and a half. I generally drop about 10% battery power per workout, so battery life I estimate to be around 10 hours. Charge time is very quick as well, generally 30-40 minutes. Sound quality is excellent, more than I would generally expect from a bone conduction headset. If you want noise cancellation though, this is not the choice. Being as it's bone conduction and open ear, you can still somewhat hear things around you, which is nice for running outside to be aware of your surroundings. Overall with the solid battery life, sound quality, and comfort, this is a great option for any athlete regularly running or working out.
