They appreciate the clear and immersive sound, comfortable and secure fit, long battery life, ability to hear their surroundings, lightweight design, and innovative bone conduction technology. They feel the volume could be louder, the bass is lacking, the price is high, the connectivity is unstable, and the microphone could be improved for better call quality.

Great for factory with ear plugs

I bought to use in industrial plant with earplugs. I didn't want to use overhead headphones anymore because they literally left an indent on my skull where the headband was. With that said, I consider myself an audiophile so by no means will this impress anybody frankly sound quality wise but I still find it somehow charming. The first thing I did was download the app (unfortunately) to switch it from standard to vocal boost mode and I have been impressed ever since. Even when listening to music I don't switch it back because the one draw back is in standard mode, the bass even with normal talking can tickle my head but with vocal boost mode taking out the lowest of the low end I think this has been fantastic and by far my favorite pair of headphones. In 5 years when this fails, I will gladly upgrade to the latest and greatest. They last 1 and 1/2 shifts for me at 50% volume if you can believe it. Bought these for work but now I use them for everything and they are my go to. I spend $600 on headphones and have been less satisfied. Just be careful if you use earplugs like me because the first day I used them, I had it cranked to 100 without realizing and my ears were ringing like I walked out a concert at the end of the shift. But let me tell you, I was jamming.

Best Headphones for All Day Use

I've had these over a year, and still wear them daily, often all day. They handle multiple devices really well, are comfortable, and the open-ear concept means I can get notifications or hear videos/messages without disturbing anyone. I can even use earplugs with them and still hear, which has been useful at work. The sound quality is good, though I'm no audiophile. I use them primarily for podcasts, calls/meetings, and mobile games. Open ear does mean the sound can be overwhelmed by ambient sounds, which is fine for music on a run but can be distracting for podcasts and calls. The shape behind the head is not very comfortable for laying down on your back, but I've worn them to sleep on my side without issue.

These Shokz OpenRun Pro bluetooth headphones have a lot of great features and design but lacks in a couple areas that make this a limited use product. Out of the box, these headphones are flexible, very light weight, and easy to operate. They recommend using the Shokz app for connecting and adjustments or updates. The app offers 2 options for an equalizer. One for music and one for voice. The headphones come in a nice hard case with form fitting on the bottom for the headphones to sit into. The top inside of the case has an elastic band used to store the charging cable, albeit does not come with the actual wall plug. With the headphones and charging cable, the case is still light and easy to carry. It is not small enough to fit in a pocket so it would have to go in a backpack or another type of carry bag. The charging cable for the headphones is magnetic so it is easy to attach to the headphones. It is a lighter magnet so it can also come undone easily too. The other end is usb. The cord overall is very thin and flimsy and is just about 2ft. in length. When charging, a light on the charger side of the headphones will come on red. Once charged the light will switch to blue. Charging seems pretty quick. Battery life is pretty good. Fitment on the head is subjective and will change for every person. There is only one solid band to put around your head so comfort level will vary. It is more on the small side so fitment on a larger head is somewhat uncomfortable after about 20 minutes. Again, quite subjective to each owner. With that being said, the band does fit well over the ears and very little to no movement when shaking your head or facing the sky or ground. The biggest part of these headphones is the audio quality and the privacy associated with this style of headphone. The open ear design and the use of bone resonance is supposed to allow you to listen to music or take a phone call while keeping your ears open for ambient enviromental noise. Unfortunately the mix still washes out any type of enviromental noise and its hard to hear anyone while listening to music that is sitting even a couple feet away. There is a good tone on the highs and some mid, but is heavily lacking everywhere else. The headphones vibrate on bass parts but don't put out any. The quality of the equalizer mix would be equal to listening to anything 70's and earlier before bass was getting pumped into music regularly. Mainly like rock or jazz type music. There is a lot to be desired. The second part is the privacy aspect. There is none. The privacy on these headphones is equivalent to wearing old school flat discman headphones that just sat on the outside of the ear. Even on medium volume levels, people were able to hear the music playing on my headphones and conversations I was having taking on the phone. These headphones are well suited for being out in the open and where there are not a lot of people in close vicinity. I guess since it's called "OpenRun". The bluetooth on the phone works well and phone calls come across clear on both ends. The toggle button is easy to use and the quick guide shows all the tap commands. It has a separate volume button on the bottom side, while the toggle button is on the side. The power button is toggled into the volume control. Overall, I feel there is improvement that could be done, but for a purpose built headphone, it does a pretty good job. Hard to recommend if you are wanting something for heavier usage.

Great for running and being aware of surroundings

    ## Design The design of the Shokz OpenRun Pro does not stray too far from last year’s OpenMove headphones. They still loop around your ear (not in your ear), but have a more pronounced loop so they sit slightly lower behind your ears. The headphones are still lightweight at 29 grams, same as the OpenMove, so you likely won’t notice them while running. ## Performance This year, Shokz is using a new TurboPitch Technology to enhance bass (something that was lacking on their previous headphones). It helps somewhat, but your first thought will likely still be that your music lacks bass when listening through these headphones. That’s a common trait you will find with bone conduction headphones in general, but each year Shokz seems to improve upon it little by little. The main benefit is your ability to hear around you and be aware of your surroundings when outside. Since the Shokz OpenRun Pro headphones do not go in your ear, your ears remain unobstructed so you can hear traffic, dogs, and people as long as your keep the volume at a sensible level. In essence, these headphones simply add background music to whatever you are doing outside, and they do it very well. ## Features - Carrying case: The Shockz OpenRun Pro headphones come with a hard case to help protect the structure of the headphones while traveling. This is a nice addition as I believe that they only included a soft pouch previously. - 2 EQ modes: There are 2 modes: (1) Standard for listening to music and (2) Vocal Booster Mode for audiobooks and podcasts. While music is playing, press and hold both volume buttons until you hear a beep to switch EQ modes. - IP55 sweat/water-resistance: Like the OpenMove headphones, the OpenRun Pro maintains the same IP55 water-resistance rating. They should survive droplets of sweat and light splashes but do not submerge these headphones in liquid. - Multipoint pairing: These headphones can be connected to two devices at the same time, making it easier to switch between your two devices. - Physical buttons: I do appreciate that Shokz continues to use physical buttons (instead of touch controls) in their headphones. The "multifunction" button is located on the left side of the headphones toward the front and allows you to play and pause your music (single-click), skip (double-click), rewind (triple-click), and answer incoming phone calls (single-click while ringing). The volume buttons are located on the right side of the headphones in a slightly less convenient location, but still easy enough to access while running. The Volume + button is also the power button (hold it down for 2 seconds to power on and off) - Voice prompts: Audrey, as Shokz calls the voice assistant, announces when the headphones are turned off, powered on, and the battery level. ## Battery Life Battery life has been improved to up to 10 hours on the OpenRun Pro (previously, the OpenMove headphones had up to 6 hours of battery life). The OpenRun Pro uses a proprietary magnetic charging cable (the OpenMove had a more standard USB-C connection). You’ll want to be careful not to accidentally lose this cable as you’ll likely need to order a replacement online (about $13 at the time of this writing). I’m assuming they switched to a magnetic charging solution to help with the sweat resistance (otherwise, you need to remember to replace the flap over the charging port to keep moisture out on earlier models). The manual even notes that the headphones can detect moisture while charging and alert you to remove the charger. ## Summary The Shokz OpenRun Pro headphones are a great solution for running outside while still being aware of your surroundings. They improve upon the OpenMove headphones with longer battery life and a new magnetic charging solution. Bass is improved, but not on the level of in-ear earbuds. However, most users should find the sound satisfactory for running.

This is my first pair of bone conducting headphones. I knew the sound wasn't going to be on par with other traditional over the ear headphones, but the battery life, sound quality, and comfortability of these is great. I love that they stay in place whenever I go jogging and I can still hear everything when listening to music. Definitely worth the money.

I wear these everyday to work. So comfortable I forget they are on sometimes. They sound good under normal environments. If you’re somewhere loud you will have a hard time hearing a podcast or audiobook. But you’re buying these for the comfort and being able to hear things without taking them off and they do that better than anyone else. I hate ear buds that go in your ears, so these are amazing. Also can pair 2 devices at once. Nice feature that is kinda hidden. It’s in the app.

There lite weight. I can wear them all day and not even realize I have them on. Battery life last for about 3 days on use. Sound quality is excellent. I can actually hear the other person when I'm in noisy situations. Extremely noisy i still have to plug my ear, but there much much better than the other brand I had. So far so good with water resistant. I've gotten them wet multiple times and they just keep going.

Busy mom with my hands full and constant having to remove an ear bud for some reason or another. these don't interfere with my being able to hear my kids or other things things going on but also don't lose the integrity of great sound quality i forget i have them on sometimes. I can go 2-3 days on one charge. One year in only problem im now experiencing is people saying that i sound off when using them to talk.

I purchased one of these headsets for my Mother because I love them so much myself! They are comfortable and the sound is clear. Great for exercising instead of stuffing something in your sweaty ears this fits nicely around your neck/head, you can jump or run with them without slipping away from your ear. The price is a bit costly, either wait until they go on sale or search a payment plan for these, it is worth the investment-I plan on having these for awhile.

This is my second Shokz open run. I use is for road cycling. they fit under my helmet nicely. The sound is good. Play a lot of music. Battery lasts a long amount of time . Answering calls works out except when riding on the bike a lot of wind is created. Otherwise they do get my recommendation.

I use these for work in an office, and I have to say, I'm truly impressed by how comfortable they are for long periods of time. So there is sound bleed, if someone is close enough. Generally a third party cant make out all the words from the person on the other end, but they can tell there is sound, if there's no other background noises. So thats something to keep in mind. Taking calls and sound quality of voices is pretty excellent, and I have been told theres no trouble hearing me talk, so the mic must be pretty good as well. Listening to music, its not bad, I know it could be better, simply because I have other headphones to compare it to, but the ease of use is why you buy these, not the sound quality. After about 5 hours, I have to take them off to give my head a break, but over time, the pressure from these things really becomes harder to notice. I think the best use case is for office settings where you have to take alot of calls for a long period of time and you need maximum comfort to do so. Exercising with this, they dont move around, which was surprising, so its possible to use them for that. Personally I dont, but I did give that a test run, and they stayed right in the correct position the whole time All in all, I would recommend this to anyone 1. That requires comfort over long periods 2. Doesnt care about sound quality being the #1 thing 3. Works in an office with minimal background noise.

My bone conduction headset is fantastic! Yes it isn't super loud and if you walk into a very loud environment it will combat the volume, but nothing replaces the easy to wear nature of these headsets. They don't bother my ears, i I no longer get earwax build up like with earbud tips, I no longer get aches in my ear canals, and the best part: I feel like i gained an extra set of ears by hearing both my music and those around me!

These are perfect for walking and other activities. They fit perfectly and are comfortable. I was surprised at the sound quality. Clarity is good and volume is fine. These aren't "studio" grade earphones, you have to go in knowing that when you buy them. The set up is super easy like most other earphones. It's great finishing my walk without sweaty ears.

Really have been enjoying these. I wear em everyday and the battery really lasts too. If i have any complaint its just the lack of bass but im sure its just because of the bone conducting tech. If they every release a bass boosted model, I'd be set. Used to use the Bose glasses but the battery is much better on these.

I got this one for my boyfriend, and he loves it. I also have one, the previous version, and I have to say that this is the most comfortable running headphones ever. Is lightweight, does not move, and I don't have to worry about it getting wet with sweat or rain because it is waterproof :). I just wish the sound was a little louder, but in general, the sound is clear and great.

Packaging was minimal and came with the headphones, a hard shell case, and a proprietary charging cable, that was short. I do wish that the charging cable was usb c to allow for using other cables that I already have and not having to have a dedicated cable for the headphones. The headphones are not heavy and are curved around the back of your head/neck. The heaviest part of the headphones being the part that attaches to the ear loop. The material of the headphones is smooth but leaves some finger prints if they are oily, but can be wiped off. Synching the headphones was probably the quickest and easiest synchronization I’ve ever done. It showed up right away. There’s only three buttons; the power button shares duties with one of the volume buttons at the bottom of the ear price behind the ear and the pause/play/answer/end call on the left ear piece. A long hold will power the headphones on and off. On power up it provides the battery level. It’s a tad annoying that it doesn’t do this in percentage, it just gives levels example high/medium. Sound is decent but is not for audio enthusiasts, but these headphones are not meant for that. They have a good microphone and sound quality for video and music. There is some sound that can be heard when standing next to a person wearing them depending on how loud the volume is. I could tell if it was music or talking happening if standing near the headphones. The most noticeable part when wearing the o headphones are the ear lol pieces. The loop guy goes behind the ear and is comfortable . For me the left earpiece sitting right before the tregas part of the ear is comfortable and sits right and doesn’t move. The right part of my ear I can’t get it to sit in the same comfortable spot it tends to love and push against it and is a tad painful after a few minutes. This may not be everyone and might me just me, but I never got it to sit right. Phone calls could be answered using the pause play button. The ring did come through on the headphones but was a little hard to hear compared to the phone ringing itself unless having the volume way up. I didn’t want it in call volume blaring so I had the headphone volume a medium which caused the problem. It’s fixable if you don’t kind having the volume way up. Having the volume all the way up or wait to put on for a sec the bass will vibrate and the buzzing sensation is crazy and a little off-putting. All together I love the one headphones. The sit and you don’t have to worry about them squeezing out of your ear and falling off and stop leave you open to being aware and gable to hear when needed.

A great updated model from Shokz

When I saw that Shokz had rebranded themselves from AfterShokz and released the updated OpenRun Pro headset I had to give them a try. Unboxing: The OpenRuns come in a nice logoed retail box and inside there’s a clamshell soft sided hard shell case and inside that is the headset very well held in and protected in a perfectly form fitting molded insert. In the other half of the clam shell there’s an elastic loop holding the proprietary USB charging cable. Also inside the box is a quick start guide, manual and card asking you download the Shokz app for either Android or IOS. Inspecting: I already have the AfterShokz OpenComm headset and really liked it, it is “was” my headset of choice when wanting to hear my surroundings. The OpenRun are really close to the same layout as the OpenComm except that there’s no boom mic and the MFC button is on the left side. The volume buttons are in the same location but are larger square switches instead of the small round orange ones of the OpenComm. The transducers of the OpenRun are larger, and there’s a grill mesh type opening on three sides of each, “front/back/bottom”, the OpenComms transducers are sealed with no openings. And the proprietary charging cable is still the same and you’ll have to make sure to keep track of it because you cannot charge them with a normal USB cable. Setting up: The new OpenRun is set up pretty much the same way, “I’m using Android so this review reflects that”. Pairing is really easy, just press/hold the + button till you hear “pairing” and pair to your phone. I tried pairing with a Google Pixel 6, Samsung S21 and a Galaxy Fold 3 and all paired without a hitch. Use: I was really happy with the OpenComm headset as I have some hearing issues and the bone conduction “for me” sounds perfectly clear for phone/voice conversations. Music was ok but sounded more “flat” with no base, and I only used them for phone calls. The new OpenRun headsets sound is much clearer, and does have more of a bass feeling than the old. The app also give you two settings for “Vocal” and “Standard” there’s no custom tweaking and hopefully Shokz will release and update that allows it. Using the app during calls and setting the app to “Vocal” calls are loud and perfectly clear. I made quite a few phone calls already and everyone thought I sounded very clear, I found that there wasn’t a need for the boom mic even when outside while it was fairly windy. Next I tried some streaming music, and set the app to “Standard”, there’s a definite difference in music quality over the OpenComm, music is a good bit clearer and there’s a definite boost in bass. It’s not earthshaking bass like you would get from OTE headphones but it’s good enough “for me” and I like having the my ears open when I need to hear things going on around in my environment “these are not noise canceling”. Conclusion: I’m really enjoying the new OpenRun headset, not having the boom mic means I don’t have to worry about that getting in the way. I so miss having it so I can simply grab onto the mic to mute it quickly if I needed to but I can easily deal with that since the sound clarity is better than the old model. Battery run time looks to be right around 10-12 hours, and I had a few very lengthy conversations that barely ran the battery down. Charging it is very quick and I could believe the manufacturer that 5 minutes gives over 1 hour of talk time. If you are looking for a new set of Bluetooth headphones and would like to keep your ears open so you can hear your surroundings then the Shockz OpenRun headset will be right up your alley. The bone conduction is sort of odd at first but you get used to it very quickly and these are so light and unobtrusive I’ve forgotten I had them on in multiple occasions.
