Expensive but worth every penny
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First impression: I am a big fan of the Shokz bone conduction headphones. I currently have the Shokz OpenRun Pro headphones and I love them. But I don’t always wear them because I live in Florida, and it gets very hot here in the summer. This week alone it has been hitting 100° with 95% humidity. They are IP67, so they should be OK. But when I really start sweating, or when it starts raining, I take them off. So, when I heard about the OpenSwim Pro, I jumped at the chance to get them and review them. The OpenSwim Pro is IP68 rated, so it can be submerged in water operating for 30 minutes. As bad as our weather is, it’s not that bad. These headphones are very well made, and have a 4 - pin, magnetic charging port. The metal connectors for the charger are polished and seem to be waterproof. In addition to the relatively similar specs to the OpenRun Pro, the OpenSwim Pro also has 32GB of internal memory and a built-in MP3 player. Also, the OpenSwim Pro comes with a neoprene carrying case with drain holes to safely transport the headphones. The OpenRun Pro come with a nice, fitted, fabric-covered hard case. Technical Specifications: • Battery Life (Bluetooth Mode): 9 Hours • Battery Life (MP3 Mode): 6 Hours • Technology: 8th Generation Bone Conduction Technology • Charge Time: 1.5 hours • Sweat & Water Resistant: IP68 Waterproof • Weight: 27.3 g • Materials: Silicone, Plastic, Nickel-titanium alloy • Quick Charge: 10-min Charging, 3 Hours of Usage • Charging Port: 4-Pin Magnetic Induction • Battery Capacity: 160 mAh • Maximum Charging Voltage: 5.0 V ± 5% • Bluetooth Version: BluetoothⓇ V5.4 with 32GB of MP3 Storage • Multipoint: Yes • Compatible Profiles: Bluetooth Mode: A2DP, AVRCP, HFP • MP3 Mode: MP3, WMA, FLAC, WAV, AAC, M4A, APE • Wireless Range: 33 feet • Compatible Codecs: AAC SBC • Command Controls: Multifunction Button, Volume Button • Frequency Response: 20Hz~20KHz • Sensitivity: 105 ± 3dB • EQ: 3+ • Microphone Type: Dual Noise-Canceling Mic • Microphone Sensitivity: -38 dB ±1dB What comes in the box: • OpenSwim Pro Headphones • OpenSwim Pro Carrying Bag • Magnetic Charging Cable • Swimming Earplugs • User Guide & warranty card Setup: There really isn’t any setup, they can be used right out of the box. But with the Shokz App, you can select things such as Bluetooth or MP3 mode, MultiPoint Pairing, customize the button controls, App language, and update the firmware. Performance: The audio quality of these headphones is amazing. This is where these headphones really shine. With bone conduction, I expected voice audio to sound good, but music audio flat and empty. It turns out that both sound great. Voice audio from cell phones sounds crisp and clear, like a good telephone headset. But the music sounds good too. The highs are crisp, the mids are full, but the bass isn’t deep. There is bass, which is more than I expected, but you can’t get the same deep thumping that regular earphones can give you. But, for bone conduction headphones, I am very happy with the sound. I really like the fit of these headphones. They are comfortable to wear for extended periods of time, and they hold in place and do not come loose no matter what I am doing. And most importantly, they do this without a hard or tight grip on the head. I regularly wear these for 8+ hours a day, and I have never gotten a headache from them. Additionally, they are also comfortable to wear when wearing my hearing aids and my glasses. The battery life is said to last 9 hours in Bluetooth mode. I put them on in the morning when I am leaving for work. Some days I don’t get back home for 9-10 hours, and I haven’t had them die on me yet. Now this is not at 100% duty cycle, but it is definitely at least at 75%, considering I listen to music and use them as my telephone Bluetooth headset. Conclusion: The OpenSwim Pro bone conduction headphones are excellent headphones and a pleasure to use. And while they are really a waterproof version of the OpenRun Pro with 32 GB and an MP3 player added, the waterproofing is very welcome here in Florida. The fit is secure and comfortable, they are lightweight, durable, and sound really good with any audio it’s reproducing. The only two cons would be the price and the proprietary charging cable. These headphones are expensive, but you also get a lot with them, and they are very well made. Whether they are worth it is a personal decision that you must make. As for the charging cable, it is a very good design, and I love the use of magnets to hold it in place. While a USB C charging port would be more universal, they would have never gotten an IP68 rating with a USB C charging port. I really like these headphones. These are the first portable headphones that I have had that I really like. If you are looking for a waterproof headset, not a water resistance pair (There is a big difference), that are well made, durable, that sound really good and have a comfortable, secure fit, then I highly recommend these headphones.

Doesn't work underwater but otherwise great
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works great overall outside of water, but I had originally purchased for swimming & sound cuts off underwater, so doesn't really work for intended purchase. I would not recommend for water use as advertised, however, it is excellent for use in other applications.

A Versatile Upgrade for Active Lifestyles
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As an avid swimmer and technology enthusiast, I had the pleasure of testing the new Shokz OpenSwim Pro headphones. These bone conduction headphones have been designed with the active user in mind, and I must say, they have significantly raised the bar from the previous OpenSwim model. The addition of Bluetooth 5.4 is a game-changer, allowing me to switch seamlessly between pool sessions and other activities without missing a beat. One of the standout features of the OpenSwim Pro is its impressive 32GB of onboard storage. Compared to the previous 4GB, this is a substantial upgrade, enabling me to store up to 8,000 songs. This is perfect for long swim sessions where connectivity might be an issue, as I never have to worry about running out of music. The variety of supported formats, including MP3, WMA, FLAC, and AAC, ensures that I can enjoy high-quality audio in different file types. Battery life is another area where the OpenSwim Pro shines. With approximately nine hours of usage on a single charge, these headphones easily last through a full day of activity. I particularly appreciate the fast charging feature, which provides about 3 hours of playtime with just a ten-minute charge. This is incredibly convenient for those last-minute swim sessions or workouts when you need a quick boost. The sound quality of the OpenSwim Pro has also seen significant improvements. Utilizing the 8th generation bone conduction technology with PremiumPitch 2.0+, the sound is clearer and more vibrant. The three EQ modes – Swimming, Vocal Booster, and Standard – offer tailored listening experiences for different environments. Whether I’m underwater or taking a call, the audio is consistently top-notch. Speaking of calls, the inclusion of two microphones with noise and echo cancellation is a welcome addition. This feature enhances the practicality of the OpenSwim Pro for everyday use beyond just swimming. I found the call quality to be excellent, with clear voice transmission and minimal background noise, making these headphones a great companion for both work and play. Comfort and durability are critical for any sports headphones, and the OpenSwim Pro does not disappoint. The flexible nickel-titanium alloy frame and soft silicone material make for a comfortable and secure fit, even with swimming gear like caps and goggles. The IP68 rating ensures that these headphones can withstand submersion in water up to two meters for two hours, making them reliable for various water activities. In my opinion, the Shokz OpenSwim Pro represents a significant step forward in bone conduction headphones. The combination of enhanced features, superior sound quality, and robust design make them a compelling choice for anyone with an active lifestyle. Whether you are a swimmer, runner, or simply someone who enjoys high-quality audio on the go, these headphones are worth considering. Overall, I highly recommend the Shokz OpenSwim Pro to anyone looking for versatile and reliable bone conduction headphones. The upgrades from the previous model are substantial, making these headphones a top contender in their category. With their impressive battery life, excellent sound quality, and durable build, they are well-suited for various activities and environments.

Not worth it
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought these for cycling. They don’t have base unless you use ear plugs they come with. Which defests the purpose. ok i could live with out base for safety to hear cars around me. But my temples hurt from using these. So much i can’t stand them. Definitely going back. Cool concept. But not worth the money. Also the button controls to switch tacks is pretty rediculous.
