Works great overall outside of water, but I had originally purchased for swimming & sound cuts off underwater, so doesn't really work for intended purchase. I would not recommend for water use as advertised, however, it is excellent for use in other applications.

Bought these for cycling. They don’t have base unless you use ear plugs they come with. Which defests the purpose. ok i could live with out base for safety to hear cars around me. But my temples hurt from using these. So much i can’t stand them. Definitely going back. Cool concept. But not worth the money. Also the button controls to switch tacks is pretty rediculous.

headset works ok but very difficult to change settings in the pool. the non pro version is much easier to use in the pool. pro version controls are much smaller and much closer together

I’m a big fan of Shokz headphones. I’ve had every model Shokz has produced since the Trekz Air, with the exceptions of the OpenSwim and OpenRun Pro models. My current bone conduction model is the OpenRun, and while they have an IPX67 rating, Bluetooth does not work underwater, so I jumped at the chance to pick up the new OpenSwim Pro bone conduction headphones. Why should you consider purchasing a pair of bone conduction headphones? As a runner, I’ve found nothing better to take tunes with me on a run, while still maintaining situational awareness, since they leave my ear canals open. There’s also nothing more comfortable for long-term usage. I can leave these on all day long and forget that I’m wearing them at times. Even if you’re not active, the comfort and convenience of being able to leave your headphones on while not being isolated from your surroundings make it worth getting some for yourself. What’s the tradeoff? The sound quality of bone conduction headphones can’t compare to in-ear monitors, but that’s the nature of bone conduction technology, so it’s a tradeoff worth making if you need situational awareness. With the OpenSwim Pro headphones, Shokz has addressed the biggest deficiency in the previous version: the lack of Bluetooth capability. The OpenSwim Pro expands onboard storage to 32 GB when in MP3 mode, but adds Bluetooth that can be used when you’re not underwater. If you have the OpenRun headphones, you’ll be hard-pressed to tell the difference between those and the OpenSwim Pro. The OpenSwim Pro is basically the OpenRun with the ability to listen underwater. Doing A/B testing between the two models, I struggled to tell the difference in sound quality between the two, with a possibly slightly fuller sound in the OpenSwim Pro. Two EQ modes are available, standard and vocal. Vocal mode removes a lot of the bass, allowing you to enjoy the spoken words without the extra vibrations that sometimes happen with a speaker who has a lower voice. MP3 mode relies on mp3 files that you put on the internal storage. Since you’ll be using these underwater where Bluetooth can’t reach, you’ll need to load up the audio files you want to take with you. On a Windows computer, this is almost trivial. To do so, simply connect the headphones to your computer using the supplied multiuse charging cable. Windows sees the OpenSwim Pro as an external drive, so all you need to do is to drag files from your computer to this drive. That’s it! While you can drag and drop entire folders, OpenSwim Pro does not recognize the folder structure, which makes sense, since there’s no screen. While I’m accustomed to using my OpenRun while running, I’ve never been able to listen while swimming, so I was anxious to find out how these would work. Switching to MP3 mode is easy, and the companion app allows you assign the mode toggle either to a long press on the button on the left earbud, or to a simultaneous press and hold on the volume up/down buttons. Surprisingly, pressing both buttons can be done with the thumb and works well. Once in MP3 mode, the music starts and you’re ready to swim. As soon as I went underwater, I was struck by how good the music sounded! The bass that is normally lacking was there in spades, and the music sounded full and loud. Upon leaving the water, it’s just as easy to switch back to Bluetooth mode and go back to streaming music and podcasts, and taking calls. By the way, call quality was excellent, so these can be your hands-free headset as well. If you already have a pair of OpenRun or OpenRun Pro headphones, you probably don’t need these unless you also have swimming as part of your exercise program. If you do, it’s great to have a single set of headphones able to meet your listening needs both in and out of the water. MP3 mode allows you to take your tunes with you without needing your phone, which is an added bonus. If you have a pair of the original OpenSwim headphones, you’ll want to get these for the sorely-needed Bluetooth mode and upgraded sound. For you, this is a worthy upgrade. If you’re a runner, biker or swimmer and looking for a way to take your tunes with you while remaining aware of your surroundings, bone conduction is the way to go. OpenSwim Pro brings together the best of the OpenRun and OpenSwim headphones while retaining best in class comfort and stability. These aren’t the headphones I pull out when I want to isolate myself and get lost in my music, but for everything else, these are my go-to. I’m giving them 5 stars, but not because they’re the overall best in all categories. I’m giving them 5 stars because they do such a great job at what they set out to do. Shokz advertises the OpenSwim Pro as headphones that are comfortable, stay in place, allow you to still hear your environment, deliver good quality sound and are not only waterproof, but work when fully submerged. They deliver on those goals and do so very well, so I give them top marks!

I have owned multiple variation of Shokz products, since before they rebranded from AfterShokz. They continue to periodically release new products and keep a small overall product line. What I appreciate about their brand specifically, is the meaningful upgrades they release in the new products. Each time I've upgraded, it has been worth it. Typically every 2-3 years, but the reality is that any of their headphones are sufficient to last me years. User background: Active, mixed environments (cold, wet, hot, dry), pool and open ocean swimming. Unboxing: Includes the usual, cord without charger, included ear plugs which was nice. I appreciate the included carrying case that is rugged. For first time Shokz customers, I think a second charging cord should be standard. Setup: Nothing fancy here. The MP3 feature took a little getting used to but if you have files already available it's a nice benefit to be able to leave your phone in a locker at the pool and have one less thing to worry about. 32gb isn't much, so frequent updates to your list maybe needed for higher resolution files. I am overall a big fan of this ability, but it is a throwback to the old days of MP3 players (for better or worse). Design: Fits really well in all situations for me. Not too heavy. I still find the last of adjustability/size of the back ring to be a bit annoying. When laying down it is in the way since it is not flush on my head. When swimming the fit and stability is good but not great. I haven't had it slip off but it sometimes feels like it's going to, which then makes me stop what I am doing to ensure its not about to slip off. This is a bigger problem with ocean swimming than the pool, course. Look is good but it could be sleeker. However, this is activewear and not a designer item. Features: I am a huge fan of the volume and multi-function button. I'm sure most people are, but it is a nice aspect they are able to incorporate. 6.5feet is the depth rating, which is by far enough for me. Battery life has never been an issue and I've easily used it over 6 hours. Re-charge time is quick and it has a quick re-charge built-in. Sound: It's as good and slightly better than any previous Shokz model. It is not as good and the very popular in-ear wireless airphones out on the market, but that is not an issue. I very well enjoy these headphones and what I am able to hear while swimming and other dry activities. I think it has excellent quality for what they are for. These are a totally different technology than mainstream earphones and are great for what they are. Who should buy this: Literally anyone who needs earphones for the active side of life. The ability to interact and hear your surroundings is immensely important and these are the headphones for that purpose. They are quite reasonably priced for what they offer and can be used exclusively for activities. Overall: Another great product from Shokz.

I am completely new to this Shokz brand. Before getting a chance to try these OpenSwim Pro, I had not heard of this headphones brand, and so I came in with an open mind. Having used these for the last two weeks my swimming sessions as well as around the house and on my runs, here are my thoughts and how I score these on a few areas that are important to me. Unboxing experience – 5/5 – although this has nothing to do with the actual sound and fit, I do appreciate when a brand takes the time to make the unboxing experience a good one. Shokz checks the box here for sure. Connectivity – 5/5 – right out of the box without even having to read the instruction manual, I was able to simply click a button to enable Bluetooth and in less than 10 seconds, I had these synced with my iPhone. Love how simple this was. No need to download an app to start listening to music right away.. Battery – 4/5 – with a full charge, I was able to get about 9 hours of listening music, both outside and including a couple of swimming sessions of about 20 minutes each. I do appreciate the quick charge feature just to make sure I have enough juice before putting these on for a quick run. Built Quality – 4.5/5 – the built quality feels top notch. Although is all mostly rubber, it feels rugged and long-lasting. I also appreciate the physical buttons for volume and on/off. This is a feature that is getting deleted nowadays, and I like my physical buttons, so this is a plus. The only thing I wish was different is the charging cable. Why not a USB-C charger? It’s a bummer because you must carry the charging cable when traveling instead of using a universal charger that works with everything else. Comfort – 4/5 – easy to put on and comfortable feel. I wish they were a little smaller. I don’t like the loop being so far away from my head because when running it moves a bit, but the headphones don’t fall out. They stay put, but if there were size options or a way to make them smaller, I know I would like a better snugged fit around the back of my head. Sound -5/5 – for open air sound it’s perfect. Underwater is a little less loud, but the fact that I can still listen to music while swimming, this is the first time I can even though that, so WIN for me! All in all, I highly recommend these for anyone who wants to listen to some chill music while swimming to make it even more relaxing or even as a runner, I use this to be able to listen to my surroundings and yet have some music during my run. I wouldn’t use these as my everyday day headphones, but they have become my headphones for my workouts, and they are perfect for this because I like to hear what’s going on around me.

6 MONTHS AND THE BATTERY DIES OR SOMETHING ELSE HAPPENS CAUSE DO NOT CHARGE ANYMORE. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS THE WORST, NEVER RESPONSE FOR THE CLAIM. NO LO RECOMIENDO.

• SUMMARY: The Shokz S710 Openswim pro headphones are definitely a game changer, and they easily surpassed my expectations for sound while swimming. It is great to be able to swim laps while listening to music that sounds amazing in the water. They produce sound in (and under) the water very well. They are very light and comfortable, and they stay in place well. However, there are a couple of things that preclude a perfect five rating. DETAILS as follows: • PACKAGING: There box was fine and everything was packaged well, but nothing special. Included with the headphones: - A small Users Guide pamphlet with a printed link to a URL where a full Users Guide (UG) can be downloaded. The full UG is pretty good. - A charging cable with a USB A connector for a PC on one end, and on the other a proprietary magnetic charging connector (probably necessary for waterproofing). - Blue swimming ear plugs in a small case. ○ Note there is no guidance in the UG that states what they do, but wearing them amplifies the sound while in the water and makes it sound "fuller". - A pretty decent carrying bag to hold the phones, earplugs, and charging cable (if desired). • GETTING STARTED / USE - Downloading the Shokz App and pairing with my Android phone was quick and easy. ○ I am weary of always having to use apps, but this one is important to manage multipoint pairing, upgrading firmware and changing EQ modes. - I was able to stream music files from my phone immediately in "Bluetooth" Mode. - Transferring music files from my PC was also quick and easy using the charging cable. ○ Windows recognized the Shokz Open Swim as a folder immediately, and I dragged and dropped folders and individuals music track files to the Openswim Pro folder. - Initially using the app, I was easily able play music and switch from Bluetooth Mode (streaming music from phone) to MP3 mode (playing music from files stored internally on the headphones). § It is also very easy to switch by pressing the Volume buttons for 2 seconds without the app. § You can also assign the multifunction button to switch modes as well (which is what I did) since I found it easier than the above. - You cannot select and play back tracks or folders of your choosing with or without the app: § Page 15 states of the UG states: "You can also use the Shokz App to easily switch the order of MP3 music playback." This is not the case. § The order of playback is by when you transferred the files to the headset. □ E.g. the order is the first track transferred gets played first. The second track is the second played and so on until the last track is played. § I emailed Shokz to ask them if I was missing something, but have not yet received a response. § I have owned many very inexpensive MP3 players over the years and they allow you to play music by artist/album/folder, etc. You would think that a fairly expensive device such as this that has 32 GB of storage would allow you to do the same. This definitely does not. § This should be a function that is available via the app, and the app should also show what track is being played. - On the positive side - I was able to play tracks in many formats such as MP3, WMA, FLAC and WAV. - Also, 32 GB of storage is decent, but still not enough to hold my music library. The previous model's 4 GB of storage was not adequate so it was good to see it upgrated to 32. - Checking battery status does not seem to work as stated on page 16 of the UG by pausing playback and pressing the volume button. ○ However, the app does show charge status and you hear it when you power on the headphones. - The comfort is excellent and the headphones stay in place very well. ○ The band simply wraps around the back of your head without really touching it. ○ The earhooks are great and keep the headphones in perfect position. ○ They headphones stay in place very well….even while swimming! ○ The headphones are also very light, and I really do not even realize they are being worn - again even while swimming! - Battery life seems to be very good. - Shokz requires setting up an account with a user name and password in order to register the product. Why? This was annoying, and anything is a cyber risk these days so I did not do it. • QUALITY - While swimming, the music quality easily surpassed my expectations for sounds in the water. Pretty amazing actually. ○ Are they as good as good quality in-ear or over-ear headphones on land? Of course not, but for swimming, they are fantastic! ○ As noted above, the earplugs enhance the quality and reinforced the sound. - Outside the pool is where there could be improvement: ○ Bluetooth mode sounds pretty darn good. Not as good as my reference buds, but still very good. ○ However, the MP3 mode is not very good. The difference between sound quality between the Bluetooth mode and MP3 modes was perplexing to say the least. § I did A/B comparisons using both modes on the same source material and in different formats (including lossless WAV files) and the results were consistent - the sound of the MP3 mode was not very good while the Bluetooth mode was good. § This is a shame because I could foresee using these while running or in a gym (which I did test) without having to use my phone. - The app lets you choose different EQ modes, but these are limited to Standard and Vocal in Bluetooth mode and Standard and Swimming in MP3 mode. ○ While those are adequate, it would great if Shokz would do a firmware upgrade to allow custom, five band (at least!) equalization. • BOTTOM LINE: These are phenomenal in the water. To be able to hear music well while swimming is fantastic and the sound quality in the water is much, much better than I could have imagined. The headphones are comfortable and stay in place in or out of the water. AWESOME! However, I could not justify giving this 5 stars given what is stated above. For that, Shokz needs to improve the ability to play back specific tracks/artists/albums/folders, and secondarily, the sound quality in MP3 mode out of the water. Nevertheless, even with that, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Shokz Openswim Pro headphones.

Some products just work and this is one of them. I have heard of Bone Conduction as a speaker technology but this is my first pair. Out of the box the headphones are accompanied by a USB charging Cradle, swimming Earplugs (not sure who would use them), a Silicone Rubber Carrying Case, and a User Guide. Mine came mostly charged but I plugged it in to get it to 100%. Getting set up is very straight forward and to be honest the controls are a dream to operate. You can stream music from your phone or other device and this supports multiple device pairing so you can easily use it with your computer and cell phone without the need to go through pairing each time you change. The MP3 function works great though you do need to use the charging cradle to transfer files from your computer. Easy to do, just would be nice to have this functionality via blue tooth and the app. File transfer is fast though and with a 4 GB capacity it will hold up to 1200 songs. It supports MP3, WAV, WMA, AAC and FLAC formats. One thing about the charging cable. It is proprietary but in this case I understand that a USB C connection would take up more internal space than what they are using and also may be harder to make waterproof. So, in this one instance I will not knock off any points for a non standard connection. Just dont forget to bring it along when you are traveling. Music quality is clear and very pleasant. My over ear noise canceling head phones sound better but I paid over $1000 for them. These really sound very good with clear crisp sound even throughout the spectrum. This design eliminates anything sticking in your ear make them comfortable for prolonged use especially when exercising and in wet conditions. Speaking of wet conditions they are fully waterproof boasting IP68 status. So, what I mentioned above about sound quality also applies to using them underwater. I was again pleasantly surprised how nice they sound under any conditions. Really a great value I am not sure how I lived without them this long. I really enjoy listening to my new swimming workout playlist. Also, I record custom motivational messages that I can cycle though when swimming. Fantastic and next level. Get out there and JAM in the pool, lake ocean or any body of water that you might enjoy!

The Shokz OpenSwim Pro is probably the perfect example of where bone conduction headphones are headed. Completely sealed, they're perfect for the pool because you don't have to worry about them getting wet. The sound quality is also improved over their previous headsets, with bass and highs you can hear clearly under and out of water. The only real negative - and I understand why it had to be this way - is the proprietary magnetic charge cable. But when it comes down to it, these are as close to perfection and you can expect waterproof headphones to be. Unboxing - the premium feel of this headset starts with the packaging being very high-end smartphone like. Inside the box, you'll find the headset, charge cable, ear plugs, documentation, and a zippered storage bag made from wetsuit material. The charge cable has a proprietary magnetic connector instead of USB-C, which is slightly annoying in that you can't just use any charging cable, but in return, you never have to worry about a charge port allowing water in to destroy the electronics. Usage - Pairing works like any other headset, that holding the power button as you power it up enables pairing mode. Once paired, they work like any other headset, except that they play the music directly into your head. The music playback quality is excellent - easily the best bone conduction headset I've ever listened to and pretty solid for the price class its in. In the water, sound quality is not lost. They also stay put without being too tight on your head. Out of the water, the fact you can listen to a song and hear everything around you makes working out in public spaces safer, as you can hear traffic around you. Charging is where I'm torn. I love the magnetic charger, but I don't like that USB-C or Qi charging isn't an option. I know it's not big enough for Qi though, and a USB-C charge port would allow for water ingress. The magnetic charger works well though, with a very positive connection. For those that want the perfect headset for any exercise in any situation, these are the perfect headphones. Great sound quality with premium fit and feel make these worth the money.

I first tried these for swimming laps (freestyle). Although loading all the MP3 files was a bit time consuming, it worked great, but I got tired of listening to the same songs and could not figure out how to get my Apple Music to load more songs. One swim I apparently had it connected to Blue Tooth mode, and only realized that when I got a text beep. Because I only swim freestyle, and my head does not dip deeply into the water, I could hear the music quite clearly, with an occasional "cut out" (less than a second, so now I can connect to my iphone and listen to music streaming from Pandora/Spotify, etc. and get a large variety of music. Highly recommend these! I bought a second pair for my spouse (great sale!).

Something I thought that I wouldn't need. Shokz OpenSwim Pro just made this statement true. I have had their earlier models before this and had 2 issues then. It was heavier and bulkier . Plus it was annoying when you wore glasses . That has been fixed. These headphones are for those that don't like this inside their ears or covering your ears. 9 hours of run time is awesome you get more than a full days of work to use them. Best part is that they are waterproof. Go swimming, dunk your head in these things will not stop playing your music. I was in the pool for hours, swimming back and forth and also just going under the water . It's my first time I can listen to music and not have a speaker playing late at night. You won't bother the neighbors at night or offend anyone with the music of your preference playing. You can have goggles on too while wearing the headphones. I didn't feel uncomfortable at all. Now just remember these are bone conducting. The sound is vibrating into your ear. you might feel weird in the beginning, but you'll get used to it after a while. Definitely can make and receive calls . One last thing it takes like 1 hour and 30 minutes to fully charge.

I have been swimming in the mornings before work for some time now. I have always wanted a pair of headphones like these and never even knew they existed until recently. Prior I was listening to the music in the gym through the overhead speakers. These headphones have pros and cons that boil down into 2 main categories. Sound and leaning curve. The sound of these headphones are surprisingly good. The underlying bone conduction technology oddly works. The only comparison I can make from past experience is that if you plug your ears you can still hear a version of sound vibrating throughout your head but it never is "full". Well, imagine level of sound quality but hyped up. While swimming I am able to connect via blue tooth or utilize its 32GB of onboard storage. Loading and unloading new songs was a breeze too. As this is the first time I've used headphones like these there was a bit of a learning curve. The sound is "different" but still solid. The fit, as its not inner ear is a bit different too. Aside from the getting use to part of these headphone it was quite a pleasant experience. Pairing this tech with their companion app assure that the experience will be seamless. The app is very intuitive and friendly for newbys ln this tech space. All in all, if you are an avid swimmer that would like to add some tunes to your routine in the pool then I would highly recommend. The sound is better than expected, and once you get through initial set up its a great product to have in my workout.

I was really skeptical about these headphones at first, but they have been totally worth it. I had never used headphones that either didn't go in my ears or over my ears before so I wasn't too sure what to expect. Would it be like wearing over the ear headphones around my neck? Nope, it was much better. The Shokz OpenSwim Pro Bone Conduction headphones are a phenomenal set of headphones. I have used these headphones during many different activities and I believe that they are much more comfortable than wearing in ear or over ear headphones. The material used around the ear is comfortable while not feeling too heavy. They stay in place very well while jogging, cycling, swimming, working out, doing yard work, or cooking. The sound that is produced from these headphones is incredible given it isn't on or in my ear. Maybe it is just the novelty of the headphones, but I have been surprised at the consistency of the audio in during multiple activities. They may not sound as crystal clear as some of my other headphones, but they sound great for what they do. I would love to see in future iterations is a longer lasting battery. I believe that can be stated for most tech now, but the Shokz have a 9 hour battery life. This meant that I would have to charge roughly every night. Especially as my wife and I have been sharing these headphones. Overall, they are a good set of headphones. I have recommended them to a few of my cyclist friends and family as they seem to be a good fit for all.

It doesn’t work under water. Not sure if songs have to be added to it in order to work but the minute you put your head under water, the Bluetooth disconnects

I've been a fan of Shokz products for several years now, and was surprised to see they have products now that can be used on land AND in the water! I know there are a few earbuds that can get wet, but something you can safely wear in the lake/ocean/pool was definitely very cool to me. The package comes with a nice waterproof pouch that you can store wet headphones in, and, it was a nice touch for Shokz to include! Setup and pairing to my phone was simple and quick, and for the first day or so, I wore them around the house to confirm the range and how the sound was; the range was fantastic, easily over 50 feet, and even though I am not a big fan of how bone conduction earphones sound, these sounded better than earlier models from Shokz, and I was able to equalize the sound with my Wavelet app. Next day went over to my neighbors house to try them in his pool, and, even though I had only uploaded a few songs to the buds, I was amazed at how well they sounded, even with my head underwater. Using the included earplugs is a must if you actually swim in these things, but I assume if you just are lounging around in the water, they sound ok with out them. They have 2 sound modes, MP3 and "podcast", and music sounds fine with the MP3 setting. Definitely a "niche" product, and if you arent going to swim often with them, you might be better off getting their "land based" models, since you do pay a premium for the waterproofing package, but, if you often use Transparency mode on your earbuds so you can be aware of your surroundings, these are tailor made for you, and, you get the added bonus of being completely waterproof! Dont lose that special charging/data transfer cable that comes with these guys, since its the only way to charge them!

The Shoks Open Swim Pro Bone Conduction Sport Headphones are very impressive. These bone-conduction headphones surpassed all of my expectations from waterproofing to sound while listening to music, sound from videos and podcast and even call quality on both ends of phone calls. They just work as stated and work very well at that. They come with ear plugs and a proprietary charging cord as well as a nice rubber-like zip-up case with holes for water to drain out so they can dry out after using them in water. I have always been interested in bone conduction headphones for the open ear aspect of them. However, as someone who works in the heat and sweats a lot and likes to take swims in the summer, I jumped on this model. After charging them and wearing them for the first time I will say they take a little getting used to as far as finding the ideal placement below your ears and for the band around the back of your head. Once you do you will find the right spot for your ideal sound reproduction without them getting in the way or feeling uncomfortable. I was really blown away when these sounded better with more volume than my old favorite and discontinued Backbeat 3150’s. One thing I do notice though is they tickle my ears, especially with low-frequency sounds. However, it is not something that I can not deal with. Overall, I would say if you are looking for something this. The Shoks Open Swim Pro headphones are probably one of the best bone-conduction headphones you can buy. Shoks has been a leader in the bone conduction segment for many years and they are still pushing the boundaries of this technology with innovative ideas and high quality products.
