Not as good as the original. Still worth a watch for great visuals.

Being a huge fan of Sicario, I was apprehensive of how the sequel would measure with the grittiness and lower budget presentation that set the first film apart from others at the time. A larger budget and time passing between the films didn't detract from the film, but it also didn't help it. Acting in the sequel was a little forced at times and, for me anyway, caused a viewer disconnect between the actors trying to act as their characters as opposed to the first film where the actors were superb at being their characters. Overall, sequels rarely surpass the previous. The storyline was good but honing the characteristics (character traits, cinematics, etc.) of the first film too far has resulted in less dimension to the characters and the film in general. I still recommend this film to fans of Sicario.

I came into this with high hopes that we would get a sequel that was at least as good as the original. While I still enjoyed this movie there was definitely something missing that made the first Sicario a great film. Overall this is worth the purchase if you can get a deal on it.
