Customers are saying

Customers highly value the improved graphics and addictive gameplay of SimCity: Limited Edition. Many appreciate the challenging city-building experience and affordable price point. However, the game is met with significant criticism due to persistent server issues, an always-online requirement, a restrictively small map size, and the presence of bugs.

I like the game, but hate the DRM. It seems silly to be forced to play online for a sim city game

Fun game once i was able to get into server

The first week of release was annoying, but that seems to be over with. Servers (that i play on) have been stable since Friday the 8th. Been able to play over 50 hours so far. Easy game to log into and let your city run while you work on other stuff around the house/garage. The game will be getting updated as they (EA/Maxis) fix issues so you aren't stuck with the game right out the package. I am looking forward to when everything is ironed out and the global economy is working (supply and demand dictate prices), right now you can just recycle garage for alloy/plastic and just make processors, then tv's and just rake in the cash. One of the changes i liked from previous SC is the ability to expand city buildings (add more patrol cars/jail cells, ambulances, fire trucks, buses, etc...). You can also upgrade the roads capacity as your city expands the original areas want to grow vertically. The audio is pretty boring, i turned the music off and now all i hear is traffic and sirens. I like the idea of the multi-city regions where you can buy/sell power/water. Seems a little buggy at times, gifts of cash aren't making it there for a long time, if at all.

Good Game To Play For Everyone

this is a good game that the entire family can play. this game has a lot of real world situations that have to be taken care of to keep your city up and running. the graphics are a little cartoony but the game is built to be a simulator and not fro graphics. i would tell everyone to buy this if they like simulators. make sure you have internet all the time because ea makes you login every time you want to play and they are always updating to make it better

    Disappointing, but not Horrible

Overall, this game did not meet my expectations. Plot- This is a freeform game, so it wouldn't be fair to review the plot. Graphics- The graphics are quite bad. If you try to follow a vehicle or sim, the motion blur is nauseating. Also, individual sims look like blobs of pixels. Programming- Not too bad; the game runs rather smoothly. Expect to waste about 20 minutes trying to get it installed with all the ridiculous patch downloads that probably do nothing anyway. Also, the online play part of the game (or all of the game, I should say, as there is no offline mode) is very unstable and connections are easily lost. Gameplay- Awful. I got bored playing this game after about 1 hour. The game is far too hard to pick up even for an experienced SimCity player. It is far too hard to make money and such. Overall, this game was very disappointing. I honestly expected more from EA.

I'm not real happy with all the add on garbage that you have to install to play this game. I was looking for a simple put the CD in and install the game and then play it. I will think twice about buying anything from this company again.

    CAN'T PLAY--THANKS A LOT EA

This is COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. Nobody can connect to the servers and you can't even play offline by yourself!! At least patch the game so we can play on our own! Terrible, TERRIBLE service EA. What are you going to do to make it up to the fans?

Can't play offline, server issues online

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

EA and Origin failed miserably this time around. I have always been a fan of the Simcity franchises, and own every one of them. Unfortunately, this game seems to be the end of the line as you cannot play it offline no matter how bad you want to. Trying to play online is nothing but issues as well. Long queues, getting booted when a server crashes, your game saves are saved to the cloud, so if server goes offline, and doesn't reconnect to "sync" your game for you, then -poof- gone! If these issues aren't resolved soon, I will join the masses in DEMANDING a full refund from Maxis, EA, Origin, or whomever is responsible for this epic failure! I will go back to my Simcity 4 that has never let me down, I can play offline, and is still challenging gameplay. Save your money, and wait for the issues to be resolved. Most likely, the price will come down as well as they will try desperately to cling to as many fans as they can attempt to keep after this epic failure.

Game can only be played online, and the servers do not work! brilliant, basically a single player game that you can't play unless you share a server with thousands of people.and what happens when they eventually take those severs offline? bought a game you can't play forever.

Truly a great update to the classic. But for young child. The upgrade to the game has made it even more interesting.

I can't believe you can't just save the game to your hard drive. You must have an Internet connection to play. Your game saves to a server which seems to crash. If the server goes down, you are out of luck. Highly anticipated game and they really screwed it up.

Can't Connect to Sim City - game conne is horrible

First off, I been looking to play this game forever. The global economy and playing with other people is cool idea, unless it don't work. This is the worst premature game release ever, because it requires that your connected to their cloud. I just spent 90 bucks on the game and manual and I have not been able to start a game after two hours. There are serious issues with this game. If I would of know this i would have not bought it. Don't buy until they get the connection correct. Horrible.... By the way I am a huge Sim City fan, but I am sick to my stomach i can't play this stand alone or can't play any games cause their server been down for 2 hours.

    Can't even play this game

This is now the 2nd day this game has been out and it does not work. Long install waiting on all the updates and constant restarting after each one. Then you have a choose a server. Most are not available. Selecting an available server will at least let you start the game. Once the game starts, either the game will say no connection to server and not allow you to do anything at that point except wait for a connection, or it will work. If it works, you must go through a tutorial that does not work. If you don't complete the tutorial, you can't play the game. To any would be critics, my computer and my internet connection are top of the mark.

I am, or i should say, I was a fan of the Simcity franchise, until EA + (their parter) Origin launched Simcity (2013). The game looked amazing, and it was for the 2 hours I had been able to play. Due to HQ server management, and the requirement of "Consistent Online Connection" what was going to be several days of enjoying creating a massive city, turned into complaints and frustration from syncing with EA's servers. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!!! and i mean that in the nicest way possible...

This is a stinking pile of garbage I bought the game went home installed it cannot get it to work due to the fact that Ea needs it to be online all It wont play it tries continually to get online but the servers wont work and I unfortunately cannot return it great awesome so I spent 60$ on a game that is unusable this is unacceptable and the thing is is that best buy is still selling this knowing that it will not work. When I bought it the issues with the servers hadn't come out yet

For what it does, at least now, sim city for the most part does the basics of a simcity game. It is still quite buggy while they finish making patches but playable. The game itself is lacking though, its pretty obvious a lot of items were left out for future dlc. Best wait and get this in a bundle edition next year for a discount.
