my 10 yr old loves his iPad and his Skylanders. this brings em together. Yay!

Great for Kids! Teaching Problem Solving and Task Completion right inside the game.Great for building hand eye coordination. Give it a try if you ONLY own an IOS device for your child. Unlike the Review below me, I would disagree and say that this is a Somewhat Necessary Item. There is a reason why it is called a Starter Pack. It helps you to start off playing the game. each Figure can retail for roughly $9 give or take depending on region. Rounding it up to 10 because that is how much Hawaii's average price for single Skylander figures are. You're getting 3 figures plus an Item figure, making the Pack so far $35-$40, add in the bluetooth base for about 10 bucks making it not a bad deal. Not to mention the App itself costs $6.99, Which is also included in this Starter Pack. What the previous review fails to touch on is that this Starter Pack is designed specifically for those who do not own a game console, but want to enjoy the full experience of swapping characters on and off the Portal of Power. Granted, it is not required to use the pieces nor the portal with the IOS version I will give the previous reviewer that point. But, the IOS starter pack is priced effectively for those that WILL NOT own a game console version. Console versions of the Starter Pack Originally Cost $60-$70 Retail, Not including the Game Console price of $200-$400. I believe giving this Item a 1 star is unjustified simply because you do not understand its purpose. Please give this one a try if you are looking for something to get your child on an IOS device. And Most definitely give it a try if you can find it for a good price. What I will say is that this is an older version of the game. So look for deals in best buy adds to see if you can get this version of it cheaper than $50. in closing and TLDR: look over the differences in all versions of the Skylanders starter packs! It's Great for kids, My Girlfriends 2 sons love playing with the figures and the game. WOULD RECOMMEND! Be sure to also check out the new swap force coming soon!

My nephew loved this game, in fact, aside from the actual iPad Mini that he also received, this was his favorite gift this year! I enjoyed playing it as well!
