And a true classic and must have on Blu-Ray format!!

Many a Blu-ray fan have been salivating for classic hand-drawn Disney animated features in high definition. That trend has begun with a bang in Sleeping Beauty. The film is renown for its extensive attention to detail, and the many resources it took to maintain that level of quality. It showed beyond the shadow of a doubt that animation is an art form, and not a genre, but merely a medium in which to tell a cinematic story. Never was there a film like it before, or since. The Blu-ray release shows just how lush hand-drawn feature films can be in high definition. Boasting incredible picture and excellent sound, Sleeping Beauty has set high marks for Pinocchio and all the films to follow after it on BD. This is a must-own title, and receives my highest recommendation!

Parents need to know that, for most kids, the scariest part of this Disney classic will be the prince's fight with the dragon; he fights with a sword and almost falls from a cliff. Other scary moments involve the witch Maleficent and her ogre-like goons; Maleficent kidnaps the prince, and the goons beat him up (mostly shown in shadow). She also shoots lightning bolts with her staff and at one point dissolves into a green mist. Maleficent sys "fools," "idiots," and "imbeciles" and makes a reference to "h31l." There's one notable drinking scene where the two kings toast to their children's impending nuptials, and the attending minstrel sneaks enough wine to get drunk, falling down under the table and hiccuping.

With all the remakes we forget how good the originals are. When graphics weren't so realistic and we actually used our imagination.

Of the Signature Steelbooks that have been released this one in particular has a nice and simple art design and aesthetic to it. Like many of Disney's older films this comes with a Blu-ray and DVD. I assume all of their older films will eventually come to 4K like most of Marvel and Pixar's films in the future. The blu-ray image looks great and the sound is good. Some of the older bonus features have been ported over from the older releases but unfortunately they left some great extras off of this release. Overall this a good steelbook.

This movie was really good but the bluray slipcover was ripped so im taking a star off but the bluray came in great condition

This is one of my favorite steel books. Simple and beautiful. The movie hasn't aged amazingly, but it's good for what it is

Since Blu-Ray has taken off, one thing that I feel is truly worth spending the extra $$ on is animated films, especially the older ones from Disney and the more modern ones from Studio Ghibli. I won't go into much detail about Sleeping Beauty, as it is a classic to be experienced by the viewer. I would, however, like to point out the audio and video quality is top-notch! The quality of the movie transfer for this film is fantastic, allowing the viewer to see the details of the hand-drawn frame-by-frame animation that makes these old Disney films so great. I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys Disney, Studio Ghibli, or any other animated film.

While not exactly what we thought it would be it did/does keep the kids entertained with the magic of the fairy tale.

Sleeping Beauty is a movie of it's time. While the story beats and the character dialogue will seem somewhat out of place to modern movie fans, the animation illustrated throughout the film is incredible and will stand the test of time as true artistry. This solid HD transfer really helps too immerse you into the world of Sleeping Beauty and could almost be played with the sound off as a gorgeous, moving painting. They don't make 'em like this anymore folks!

Great movie. But not one of disneys best. I am very happy that they are allowing us to buy these again though.

What can I say..Sleeping Beauty is a classic...and one of the first matinee movies I ever saw as a kid in a theater. So I hold a special place for Beauty. A few months back, I happened to catch this on Disney+ and the colored popped! The only way I would’ve owned the disc tho is if the steelbook went on sale. And wouldn’t ya believe it! It went on sale..and I had bonus points to lower the cost. So I got the steelbook for about 7 bucks! Great deal-I couldn’t pass it up as a collector!

This is the classic Sleeping Beauty story. What is most amazing about the film is the artwork. Keeping in mind this was created in the 50's when there was no computer assistance. Each frame was drawn, painted and photographed, then put together. When watching the film, notice the detail in all the background. The detail in the bark on the trees, the imperfections in the bricks and blocks on the walls and floors. Artistically it is a masterpiece. The story is not bad either.

This is a classic beautiful movie on Blu-Ray. I only wish this movie had gotten a 4K transfer

This is a must have for any collection. The movie is so thrilling to watch over and over.

Disney's Diamond edition movies are a great combination of versatility and enjoyment. The movie is, of course, a classic, and my wife and I have enjoyed this movie since we were children. We owned the DVD version, but we wanted to add to our experience and get the Blu-ray/digital combo. Moving forward, we have the option of watching this in our living room, via the blu-ray, and digitally when we are traveling/in another room of the house. In the years to come as we start a family we will have multiple options with which to share this classic film with our children.

If you have kids... Heck, if you're even planning to have kids... The Classic Disney films are a must have for any parents' collection. Disney has done a wonderful job remastering these old films from the vault, and they look even better in HD... And the fact that this edition also includes the Digital version means you can take the Magic with you anywhere. Sleeping Beauty is a classic tale, and definitely one of Disney's best. A must have for your collection... Don't miss out, as the Disney films tend to disappear after a small release window!
