Customers are saying

Customers consistently note the Slimline Desktop's excellent performance, compact size, and ease of use, frequently praising its affordability. While some users wished for more RAM and a different operating system, the positive feedback on its speed, design, and quiet operation outweighs these concerns.

    Unexpectedly Unsatisfactory

Having had good experiences with many HP products in the past I expected a typical good product with this one so I went out n bought two of them and was soon disappointed. With the good specs on the unit I expected a much better PC for my money. But after almost 2 months I have to say this computer isn't anywhere near what I expected. My old, less-powerful HP STILL run rings around this unit. Pros: Small size and good-looking design. Almost silent operation. In stead of a fan-driven power supply, HP opted for an external PS like their printers. Plenty of inputs and the ability to install a 2nd monitor.. Cons: Unbelievably show despite a decent processor and 8g of RAM. I have almost no additional software installed and it's used mainly for Email and Web browsing (Thunderbird and Firefox), yet, even with a solid, fast Internet connection the thing makes me wait before a sentence I type in to display, which was the very reason I wanted a new PC. No ability to speed it up. I have disabled some of Win10's most attractive screen effects, installed a flash drive for "ready boost", increased the disc cache and other speed-increasing methods and I STILL can't get the thing to work any faster despite my own experience nd HPs own website.. My Wife's (identical) machine is the same way and all she uses it for is looking at photos, Web and Email. In summation, this is essentially a piece of junk (a first for any HP product I have ever owned) and wouldn't be a bargain if they sold it for $50. This serious;y blunts my desire to own any HP product in the future.

Right out of the box this machine was very sluggish. It took 10-15 seconds just to open applications. Not sure if this one was just defective, but maybe that's why it was on sale. Will be returning it ASAP.

The loud noise of the desktop “thinking” is constant and so loud it is distracting. This is very unfortunate as this Xmas present is now past its return date as far as I can tell.

    Excellent Value For The Money

This is NOT a high power desktop computer, it is a basic machine to get you on the internet and run normal applications, not games and certainly not to develop software. I see some people complaining about the performance. You get what you pay for. This is always the bottom line. It is very easy to get the basic functions working. It runs Microsoft Office quite well. I have no complaints and it is certainly worth the money.

This computer is a good computer, not great, but good. Benchmarks for the amd a8-7410 cpu are below similar i3 cpu's-priced accordingly though. The intergrated video is really quite good for the price point and all the software seems to be seamless so far. I believe this cpu may have initially been used in laptops and may be more efficient than some of the other AMD cpu's.

I bought this computer for my parents. They are up there in the age and simplicity was a must. It's not a speedy machine, but it gets the job done. I cracked open the case to see what was inside. It has an ITX motherboard. It has a built in wireless chip. I've seen no problems with it and it has been running for a month. Hopefully it stays that way.

    Got what I paid for.

Paid $230 in open box. Average use. Lasted 18 months, hard drive died. For only $150 more I could have got a much better desktop. The performance was fine. I was using it, then it just stopped-froze. I restarted and all I got was the HP. Did the diagnostics (which was nice). Only took a second to tell me the hard drive failed.

Purchased for light internet use (news/youtube/etc) and photo storage. OK with the photo storage … but terrible speed with e-mail and basic internet. Have a Surface that is used for work - side by side use illustrates the disappointment and waste of money in the purchase of the HP.
