Works great easy setup highly recommended if you're traveling or bored at work

This truly remarkable. Unlike the previous model, the set up is a breeze. Aided by the fact that the 500 is wireless, and the onscreen step by step guide, it took me just a few minutes to get this up and running. Everything I needed was in the box - which is always a big plus. Nothing worse than finding out you are missing the one cord you need and you need to make another trip to get it. The picture on my IPad is remarkable True HD. This does what it says - I am watching my TV and my recorded shows. I dont think there is another service or product that actually lets you do that. Was able to watch the baseball game on my tv, and since my sling is hooked up to a tv in another room, I was able to watch the football game on my IPad at the same time. Pretty Cool!

This product, as advertise, can stream TV seamlessly and it has less size than the previous product. It is just too expensive for some reason.

This is one of the most exciting products I have ever purchased. It sounded too good to be true but it works exactly as advertised. The first few weeks I had it I was demonstrating it on my iPad to all of my friends. I can now watch my cable subscription package on my iPad anywhere I travel, including sitting on the long train trip home. I can also watch my cable package on my kitchen PC without needing another cable box. Better still, with AppleTV, I can watch my home cable package, in stunning HD, on my TV at my weekend residence in Canada too! I was angry about having to pay an extra $15 for the iPad app, but the product is so great I am completely over it now!

I had an old Slingbox. I was prepared to spend all day fighting with this one to first get it installed and working locally on wi-fi, then to get it working outside the house. This was a nice surprise. Super easy set up, even to get it streaming outside of the house which used to be tough. Just follow the instructions to a "T" in the getting started guide. I had zero issues and had it installed in 25 minutes. I am using it over wi-fi. It was bit choppy at first, then I moved it to a closer receiver to my wi-fi and it is perfect. Works great, very much improved, don't have to use the "IR blaster cables" like before. Def Buy. It is the best one yet!

I was unsure about this product that it would work viewing TV in another location. But after it was installed I was amazed. Called my kids in PA and asked them to try to get on to the network and it worked!!! They were able to watch what I was watching at that moment. Love it and can't wait to use it regularly. Recommend it highly.

i love this sling box! it wasvery easy to install i did it myself and my husband was very impressed! we are in italy and love to watch our channels over here and werever we go! for some reason we cant watch on or laptops (mac book pros) but on our ipad its no problem! and our phones..

if you need to stream your DVR, there's no better solution. Having said that, here's what i've experienced using the system for the past year, and i find great room for improvement. Hopefully Slingbox will address some of these issues: 1) The apps could be much, much better improved - i've installed the apps on my iphone, ipad, mac and android phone. On each device, the app is clunky and not user-friendly. The ipad version being the most user-friendly because it shows an image of an actual (DirecTV) remote control which is easy to use. The phone versions don't, i suspect its a space constraint but they should include a "remote control view" where the whole phone interface is just buttons on the screen (for when i'm streaming the picture to a TV). 2) connection drops frequently - i'm not a technical person but the connection from the app to the Slingbox is very weak. Even with strong broadband and wi-fi connections, if you press too many buttons the stream will drop. In fact, sometimes it drops for no reason. 3) There is a large delay between the time you press a button and when the Slingbox responds. As a result, its difficult to fast-forward and rewind with a degree of accuracy. Being the only solution available, i think Slingbox is "resting on their laurels" and not doing enough to improve the user experience. Other than that, its a great device. Looking forward to the next version with more inputs and a smaller form factor. If Slingbox is reading this, please make an app for Chromecast and AppleTV!! thanks for reading.

It worked pretty well for almost a year. It's was obvious that it was a stream, but maybe with a super fast connection it's less obvious. After about a year colors had blue and yellow hues, and then a couple month later the unit became totally unresponsive. It freezes and a fan turns on that I didn't know it even had. The user forum offers more problems than solutions and customer service charges if your unit falls out of the 12 month warranty. By reading the forum I see my problem is common. I'd recommend buying the extended protection from Best Buy. You'll likely need it.

I use the Slingbox with Direct TV through a cable connection. It works well, but it hangs occasionally. There is also a lag when fast forwarding, or selecting a program to watch, or to play. The lag is 30 to 45 seconds and greatly reduces fast forwarding through commercials. I had to buy a Western Digital Live TV to stream the program to my second house about 150 miles away. With the Slingbox and Western Digital I spent about $400. It will take about 8 months to payback the cost with the savings by not paying for cable TV at my second home. I'm using it on an old analog TV at my second home, so the picture quality is not HD. I plan to test it on a portable HD TV I have to see if the picture is better.

Long time user of slingbox products (2006 or 2007) i use slingbox to view my cable tv (bedroom) on my living room tv (no cable box on that tv), on my tab and my galaxy s4. the quality of streaming you will receive is reliant on your internet speed and your internet speed fluctuations, if you can maximize and stabilize these two things, you will have a flawless connection. in my apartment i receive internet speeds of 34/6 and it never fluctuates, so my connection from my bedroom cable box to my living room tv never glitches/ buffers, i keep the picture setting on best HD, and it works flawless. At work i get consistently strong LTE reception by t-mobile, so watching tv on my gs4 and tablet is never an issue. Great product for those with the proper set-ups.

New to this product recommended by a friend. Really seems to work well. Online Tech Help was great! Easy to hookup and UTube videos help explain use. I know I'm going to love it!

I have an old non HD tv that still works great. when I bought the slingplayer, they don't make it clear you need an HDTV to use wifi setup until you read the quick set up instructions. Fortunately, I used a netgear 500 series powerline adapter to get an ethernet input into the box. Then you can set it up using a laptop on the network through a browser. They say the slingplayer video app isn't compatible with vista, but I used the chrome browser with vista and had no problem.

First off I am not sure where all of these 5 star ratings are coming from! If your purchasing this product for it's wireless function with the HDMI it wont work! I have had nothing but problems with this unit and now as I try to go and watch football its telling me my sling box is not connected?!?!? Buy the cheap version, connect it directly to your modem if you want this product. I have had it for 5 months and never use it because it does not wok!

I received this Slingbox as a gift and couldn't be happier. As long as you have decent home internet bandwidth, the viewing experience on a mobile device is quite enjoyable. I primarily use my iPhone 6 to watch my home TV via Slingbox. A lot of networks and TV providers have their own apps, but none allow on demand programming of recorded content, including DirecTV. This allows me to easily browse my home library while on the road and watch anything I normally would if I were in front of my TV. Great buy!

Setup took longer than expected. Could not get tv picture in color on 2 computers.. Was on with tech support twice. Was told that Slingbox doesn't work with Windows 7 64 bit. or AOL browser. Still couldn't get color (only grainy black & white) on my airbook using chrome or safari. Checked all connections,etc.Took over 5 minutes to get help from tech support each time I called. If you want to use your home tv while watching on computer remotely, you have to add another set of component video cables (not included or explained in meager instruction setup. Disappointing for a $299.00 component.

This product is a great piece of technology! Setup was pretty easy and it works well.

Item useless constantly downloading Best buy would not take it back because over 30 days. I guess they didn't tAke into consideration of the hours I spent on phone trying to set it up. Online dealer for slingbox said if I purchased there they would take itt back but since it was best buy I needed to deal with them. Anyone want an opened box ?
