    Great when it works, terrible hardware

    Streams well on my phone's Verizon network and better on wifi. I'm pretty much on my second set, now going on to my third one. That's due to the fact that for some reason the hardware crashes after a year of use. First one I bought crashed. Bought a second one with warranty, 1 year later I'm going back to Best Buy to replace that one. For what it's designed for, it works great. Especially when I travel. Unfortunately the hardware is garbage. If you're going to buy one, I definitely recommend the 4 year warranty.

    I worked for almost two hours trying to get this thing setup. The setup wizard kept hanging, the "next" button was greyed out and I had to keep rebooting the device and start over from the beginning. There's apparently no support from Slingbox. There was no support number to call for help listed with the poor instructions included with the product. I went to their website and found broken links and no support line listed, not even a way to chat with support. I finally gave up and took it back to Best Buy.

    I currently have Directv and I bought this product to connect to see my live shows when I am no in my house. Installation was easy and fast but right after I was able to finish connecting it. Directv doesn't let me device to be connect it. I don't know why. I try different HDMI cables and still same problem. Tomorrow I will be returning the sling box.

    Excellent in all respects after solving audio problem. Had to change setting on cable box to "TV Speakers." This did not affect my audio system at home, but made the system work correctly over the web. Thank You Slingbox for A Great Product!

    Once set up works very well

    It will work with non US systems, much to the amazement of others. HDCP is a problem but can be overcome. I feel it would not be correct to state the exact details, but sufficient to say it was an excellent purchase, When the unit is set up it works perfect and has done for the last 8 months.

    Pretty good item. Somewhat time consuming to set up (1-2 hours). Depending on you internet speed, you probably will have some annoying lag while watching TV.

    I have a cable modem and an airport time capsule as the second router... I added the ip address and opend the port recomended on my first router and remote viewing started to work. Just adding this info for those with multi router networks...

    It's easy to install, the customer service is great. This is like having my cable box on my phone. I can watch my normal shows, dvr, or video on demand. If you watch a lot of TV or travel much, this is certainly worth the investment.

    I had the old box and upgraded to this one. Well worth the money. Having wifi capability makes l the diff in the world. As a matter of fact I watch it in Saudi Arabia nearly every day!

    The color coding of the Comcast box didn't match up w/Slingbox colors (input/output jacks). I called Slingbox and they gave me the runaround (take a picture of my receipt w/iPhone and send to 'em before they would talk to me). What a hassle. I bought it last night, almost $300.00, and am so frustrated I said I'd take it back if I couldn't get five minutes of support from Slingbox to figure out the proper way to hook up the input/output jacks). They said sorry. Terrific! Because they won't give me 5 minutes of their time, I'll return it. I can't imagine I'm the only user to experience this problem. Slingbox mgmt needs to do a better job of helping their clients. Later.

    Purchased this after reading reviews so I could use at my vacation home and while I travel. The combination of hardware and Amazon FireTV App isn't work the paper the receipt is printed on. In today's technical world everything has to work out of the box. Spent an hour connecting both the box and the App to a second TV and nothing but audio and video issues. For being an established company I'm shocked they're still in business. Likely the loss in hardware revenue is being funded by actual profitable business within the EchoStar family. I was hopeful given my poor experience with SlingTV and other streaming TV apps/companies but today's streaming TV technologies are far from ready for prime time. Comcast, DirecTV and other cable/satellite companies will continue to squeeze revenue given the plug and play experience they have. Not one company comes close to creating a seamless, trouble free experience you can get directly with the cable and satellite companies. Sadly it becomes an era of which company do you spend less time on with customer service trying to troubleshoot. Save your money and give it to the cable / satellite companies.

    Broken for Windows 10

    An update for Windows 10 broke the Slingplayer application on 03/13/2017. As of 03/20/2017, it is still broken. The solution is to Uninstall a Windows Security update and Disable Automatic Updates. Their directions are not specific enough to complete the uninstall confidently. If you want Slingbox to help you do this, you have to pay them $29.99. They will not let you talk to a supervisor unless you pay the fee. They did not notify customers when this happened. They are not going to email their customers when the have fixed the problem and have no ETA on fixing it. What are they doing with all the money they make when showing us ADS??

    I have owned this for a while. If you need help past the initial period they charge to make their product work. I have it connected by Ethernet. Watching is a series of freezes, disconnects etc. No help or interest from the company. Check out slingbox sucks.

    Hardware is great, but support is terrible

    I have this product, and it works for small screens. However, on all of my Android products, the casting option rarely (and by that I mean ALMOST NEVER) works. Many hours of trying to debug my network (which was fine) and several calls and emails to their support line has lead to no improvements, and no schedule on when it will be fixed. Its too bad, because otherwise this is a great concept. I'm terribly disappointed that a company as well known as Hughes would let this level of support exist. I would not recommend any Sling products because of the poor support.
