I was really surprised how well this works. Great picture and the set-up couldn't be easier. I use it at home to watch TV on my computer and I have tried it away from home and had pretty good results. You need to be someplace that has a good WiFi signal. Very happy with the unit.

As Comcast does not really have a true TV Everywhere solution as Dish does (I am a former Dish customer and maybe a future one again), this solved my problem and I can truly extend the programs and sports that are coming into my cable box upwards to my network and connected devices. Problem solved.

We bought this so our son in CA could watch Chicago sports teams play. He loves it. Our only problem, is we would have liked more than one person be able to use the slingbox at the same time. That would be a great upgrade for us!

I bought this product so I will be able to watch my TV shows when I am oversees on business. Surprisingly in Europe it works perfectly. The setup was easy. Just follow the instructions to install and use the on screen instructions to setup the home network. I had to call slingbox support for help and they are very helpful. The problem I found out wasn't the slingbox, but the firewall of the hotel I was at. The only negative is that to watch the show you need to log into the slingbox website. It would be nice to have direct access from the computer. So I can just click on an icon on my laptop and watch my show directly.

Difficult for me to provide a fair review since I only use this to sling my cable onto my garage TV using my tablet app and ROKU. It gets stuck from time to time and I have to restart everything. The picture is pretty good though.

I don't know where all the 5 start reviews are coming from but this slingbox tops the list of one of the worst things I have ever bought electronic. The one thing that SEEMED to be good is that set up was a breeze. I followed the prompts on the screen and was done in less than 10 minutes. Everything showed it worked fine. It even passed the "works fine test" where it shows that you can scroll and change channels in the upper right corner of the screen. So why after a supposedly good set up - ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WORKS. And I mean NOTHING. Doesnt work with the TV. Doesnt work with the tablet, phone or computer. my computer is all of 2 months old with 6gb memory and i5 processor so I know it has the juice. Phone and tablets run anything I ever want including a very clear netfilx at 1080 on wifi. WIFI SIGNAL IS STRONG. They also fail to tell you that for it to work on the TV you actually have to have or buy other products like ROKU, APPLE TV, or Chromecast - well lucky for me I had a chromecast ... my chromecast has always worked fine and still does - but - not working with sling. I go to laptop, phone, tablet - each one says no signal or weak signal. I tested my signal strength, then ran tests unrelated to slingbox and everything worked except the sling. I tried looking online for forums and other help - found some that says when you get that error its unrelated to your wifi and actually an issue about the slingbox not getting a good signal from the tv broadcast or something about cables hooked incorrectly .... OK I could accept that minus the fact that SETUP SHOWED IT WAS WORKING JUST FINE! So how all of a sudden is it not working as soon as set up is done! I am so frustrated and have wasted at least two hours trying to get this thing to work correctly. I am not a stranger to using electronics at all - but this by far is one of the most frustrating devices I have ever tried to use. TAKING IT BACK ASAP! I just wanted to use it so I could get rid of a couple of cable boxes - this should not be this difficult! Looks like I will be stuck with the money hungry cable company extra boxes.

This is an must buy for TV watcher on the go and travel out of town.

As someone who's in graduate school, living off of loans, but with parents who pay for the full-fledged digital cable service, complete with movie channels and on-demand programming, the Slingbox is a must-have for me. It literally eliminates my need for paying for cable service in Philadelphia, because I get the full spectrum of channels, in stunning high-definition quality, from New York, through the internet, on whatever format I please (Laptop/iPad/iPhone/TV (via my laptop)). I look at the cost of the Slingbox as an investment that pays off after saving on just about 2-3 months of cable to Comcast or the other similar crooks. If you're a student or just out of school, this is an awesome thing to have. Highly recommended.

Returned the item to purchase a less expensive Sling Box to accomplish my goal.

I used it while on vacation and it worked great. I took away 1 star because you can't view a lot of the channels remotely when using the HDMI source. To view get around this, you must use the component source.

It works very well using Amazon Fire stick and Roku. The only reason I have given it 4 stars is I cannot get it to give me full screen on my other televisions only letterbox. I can zoom it but it distorts the picture so I have accepted it is only in letterbox.

My only gripe is that HDMI does not work with Optimum HD. I have to use component and the only reason why i bought this particular model was because of HDMI support. Aside from this, it is perfection.

I had to return the first one to Best Buy for a replacement that worked. The second one worked fine. I did purchase the service agreement for the second Slingbox. I have not needed to use the agreement.

The quality of the picture is great. Definitely happy with my purchase.

I bought this to replace an older Slingbox Solo so I get better quality while in Japan. The HD capability is very nice, and having the remote to utilize Blockbuster and other content on the home computer is good too. Down side is definitely the cost. It seems the 350 is a better buy for basic HD functionality. The instructions suggest connecting via both HDMI and Component to the device being controlled, but settings clearly select one or the other inputs. I also had to fiddle with my Blue-ray player to be able to see some content in HD, with sound, etc. If considering again, I would go with the 350.

Setup to function with Directv, iPad and Roku TV. Setup was fast.

I have been traveling and wants to find a way to watch my local channels and DVR'd content. Depending on where you are what bandwidth you have, it can be touch and go. But the Slingbix 500 works nicely. What I will say was hard was to figure out which model was the most recent and the differences between them. They all seem to have the same features.

App is free ad is when you start app not during streaming to TV.

We bought this Slingbox because while in Florida we missed the MA news and sports games (Patriots). We hooked it up to our MA cable box. It works through our Ipad mini which is then connected through an HMDI cable to the TV.. We can watch what we want on our TV. We had a little trouble hooking it up in MA but Slingbox customer service is exceptional.
