Forget third party cases and covers and stands. Whenever I upgrade to a new iPad or get one for a family member, the official Apple Smart Cover is the first thing I buy. Not only does it protect the screen, but it folds into a really convenient stand for watching videos in landscape.

I never have to worry about whether the iPad has been put to sleep when I close the cover. It keeps the screen protected when I am not using it, and it doesn't flop open when I pick up the iPad. This is an essential accessory, and you will never regret buying it.

I really like this cover. It has strong magnets. Fits perfectly. Microfiber side of cover is really cleans screen. I bought blue cover and recommend it. I am using it for one year and it is still durable and not dirty.

This cover is good and very light compared with others. However, it does not have many "stand" positions for the ipad and I find myself holding it rather than standing it to read a book etc.

This smart cover is an improvement over the one that I had for my iPad 3rd generation. For one, the hinge (where it attaches to the iPad) is covered with microfiber or some such, rather than just being metal. Also, when I open the cover all the way, the magnetic latch attaches to the back of the iPad Air 2 so that the edge of the cover doesn't "hang loose", away from the iPad body, which the older one did.

It does what it should. It protects the screen of the Air without adding unnecessary heft to the device.

I like the cover and it does its job, but sometimes it just pulls off easily. I liked the old cover with the metal connection slightly better.

I apparently have a case for my first IPad which I received as a gift. It has a top and bottom cover. So when purchasing my cover for my new iPad Air I did not realize there are two types. So I was very disappointed when I received a single " cover ". Even at so called clearance, $20 is not worth it.

Made this purchase for my dad who is not the easiest person to handle electronics. The case has been very good for him and his less than gentle use at times.

Apple makes a well fitting cover. Be sure that you are ordering the current model for your iPad for the best fit and functionality.

This is an excellent choice for people who likes their case to be minimalist and functional, without hiding the beauty of the product!

I returned the orange/red cover for a black one due to one reason: dirt. These covers collect dirt EASILY. The orange/red cover was almost like a dirt magnet. The fact that it was so bright orange/red, made the dirt look so obvious. At least with this black cover, the dirt isn't so obvious. It's minimal protection. I chose it over the $80+ smart case. There are alternatives where you can get a matte finish plastic backing that caters to the smart cover (I use one made by Poetic). But aside from that, the problems that the covers had with the iPad 4 are the same. The 'streaks' left by the creases of the folds of the cover still show up on your screen (you can wipe them off easily, although you have to do it more often than not) and instead of a metal hinge, you have a cushioned connector that doesn't scratch the side of your cherished iPad Air. Overall, pricey, but worth it in my opinion

The smart cover is awesome. It automatically turns on the iPad screen after you open the cover. Amazing!

Still protects and cleans the screen, still auto turns off/on the screen, still magnetically sticks to the side of the iPad brilliantly. Just wish I could get a leather one instead of only having plastic to choose from.
