I had an older design iPad with the “official” iPad cover. This cover for my new iPad covers only the front, and makes the entire device slimmer and lighter weight. I am completely satisfied.

I have purchased other covers over the years, I am coming back to the Apple one. Yes it's a bit more expensive but the quality is unmatched and it just fits right. Highly recommended

This is my third iPad and I would not have one without the Apple cover designed for it. Besides being for protection, when you close the cover the iPad shuts off.

The Smart Cover is a great accessory for iPad because it provides screen protection and it works as a useful stand for this device when using FaceTime or watching a video etc.

I absolutely love this smart cover. I've purchased these types of smart covers before for previously purchased iPads. But, they have always been in that red color Unfortunately, the red covers show dirt and are impossible to clean. I've never had a dark colored smart cover before. I love the way it looks. Unlike the red smart covers, the charcoal gray will hide smudges. Of course, the smart cover provides the screen protection that I need and it works as promised.

This is the right iPad cover ever. Please read on to know my story. I almost picked this up in Apple Store once. But when I realized it does not have the back cover(It has only one flap which covers just the screen. Back of iPad will be exposed), I did not buy it. Like everyone else, I was also wondering why they made it like this. But I could not find a good light weight cover and eventually decided to give this one a try. I was so happy with the cover , it almost feels like you do not have the cover ! Yes, this is not for everyone. If you are a person who does not really like a heavy cover that spoils the feel of holding an iPad, this is the cover you need. It feels good in hands. I keep it screen down so the cover protects it. This is not the cover if you are looking for real protection from fall and mishandling. But remember, if you use one such cover, you are losing the feel of iPad. I saw many people mentioning that the magnet detaches from the iPad. But I never faced that. Conclusion - For a gentle user and who loves to have the feel of holding the iPad, this is the one. Because, apple knows best about iPad. On the other hand, if you are just worried about protecting the iPad, this may not be it. But my 2 cents, you should not use a heavy / bulky cover on any gadgets - iPhone, iPad or any other brands - It will just spoil the feel of using it. In my experience, you hardly drop a tablet/phone !
