waste of money for what you get I expected a full cover for front and back not just for the screen

The ipad mini Smart Cover does everything it should and works great with a hard snap case (I bought the clear rocket fish hard snap case, it's all best buy had in store). The only thing I didn't like about the Smart Cover is the fact that its the same price as the full size. I have a full size ipad 3 16gb (the new old ipad or the old new ipad) and now the ipad mini 32gb and have smart covers for them both. Now there is a decent size difference between the two covers but the price is the same?! To me it's smaller, uses less material to make, and less cost to package but yet is the same price. Other than the price issue it's a great product that I would recommend the Smart Cover to anyone looking to keep their screen safer. The price is the only reason I only rated 4 stars otherwise a 5 star product.

Doesn't protect anything except the screen. So why would I want this?

We have two of those because we have 2 ipad minis. They work very well. The only thing we did not like would be the price.

Great fit and strong magnet. Wakes and sleeps when opened and closed. Thin and light.

Works well to help protect the screen, really like the ability to prop the ipad up when watching videos. My only complaint is that the magnet that secures it to the ipad is a little weak.

This is my second smart case for my iPad mini and I love it! My mini is black and the brown smart case looks really well on it. I like to change cases from time to time and these cases work so well. I like that it is so light weight and doesn't had a lot of weight. I also have a couple of Otterboxes that I use and sometimes they tend to be somewhat heavy. This case is never heavy and it protects my iPad. I also like that it puts the iPad to sleep when I close the cover. I had $50 in rewards points so I pad next to nothing for this case which was a plus.

This keeps my mini screen protected, and it puts it to sleep when I close it. I have it on the first version of the mini, so it's not new, and it still looks good. Am buying the same thing for the mini 4 (have to have a different size) because it's been such a good product.

Being an avid iPad owner I have loved having smart covers ever since their inception. The ability to shut off the screen just by closing the iPad is great and though on the full sized iPad the Smart Covers tend to leave scratch marks on your iPad after a while. These new iPad Mini Covers have the soft microfiber over the magnets and the whole construction is now the polyurethane that all the lower end Smart Covers are made of. It snaps on now with a gentler muffled thud and holds very tight still. In "movie view" mode it works great! I love that it doesn't let the iPad actually touch the surface it sits on. The iPad itself floats like some sort of hovering magic slate while leaning against the folded Smart Cover. Keyboard mode on the other hand was less than satisfactory for me. Since there is one less flap on this cover than the full sized version, the triangle doesn't hold as tight. More often than I liked; the triangle would unfold while I was trying to type on the iPad Mini, but I do have to make note that I was laying in bed doing that. I have yet to try it on a flat surface. Originally I bought the {Product} Red version but I didn't like the shade of red that they used. It's more "orange" than "fire engine" and just didn't fit my style, so I picked up the dark grey from Best Buy. For the price I would consider these EXPENSIVE, but there were no 3rd party solutions that were to my liking as of this review. Being that these are quite a bit smaller a price point of $29.99 or even $19.99 would have been appreciated. I'd buy if you had some reward zone credit to spend.

I bought this for a friend, but we have one too. It offers decent protection, and is easy to attach and remove. I use the kickstand feature for watching videos and sharing content. The inside is a built in screen cleaner (works well enough to remove dust and fingerprints with a little wiping). I would use another cover if you want to protect it from falls, but this works for avoiding scratches on the screen when you throw it in a bag.

really like the fact it covers and protects the screen. my favorite feature is the magnets that allow it to sleep/wake my ipad. no need to swipe to unlock, very convenient!

Works as designed - wish there was a back cover. There hasn't been much change in design since the Ipad2 version.

Not the greatest protection but love how it props up the iPad when using it to watch movies and surf the web

I'll keep this one short and sweet: it's not an Otterbox, but if you want something that keeps your iPad light and thin this is the way to go. A few quick notes: (1) If you're accident prone (you know who you are butter fingers!) - this one's not for you. (2) It doesn't offer a back - this still surprises people and people still (naively) purchase the plastic backs that they sell at Best Buy. Think fundamentally - the back of your iPad is aluminum. Those cases are plastic. They are only adding bulk/weight and they don't offer any added protection unless you're worried about the back of your iPad mini getting scratched up. (3) If you're thinking about getting a keyboard case, I would pass on it. Of course, this is subjective depending on use. But keyboard cases are the heaviest, bulkiest cases you can buy and if you're using your iPad for reading, like myself, it's tedious to have a keyboard that's ALWAYS there. For the negative: this case is nice and sleek-looking but it just doesn't say "Apple" to me. Hopefully with the next iPad updates we get newer, nicer and even sweeter iPad cases. Just sharing.

This works for the newest Ipad Mini 3 version (all holes line up correctly). The tanned leather color is really nice and will show signs of use.

Like the leather texture of the case. It protects the ipad. The smart cover makes my life easier than pushing the on/off button.

This removable cover works great. I purchased the rocketfish clear cover with it, which also works great. I do like the one piece cover that Apple has for the iPad 2. This one works well as a stand where the one piece does not work as well. It is a very nice product and you should have a cover for your screen.

This is a nice addition to an iPad Mini with Retina Display if you want to keep the screen from scratching and maintain its slim lines, without adding the extra bulk of an all-around cover which encases the back of the device. Very user-friendly, though for the price I expected the material to be a little bit nicer than what is essentially a plastic folding lid. The inside lining was nice, soft and suede-like, but if Apple had used more of a faux leather texture material on the outside than a hard obviously plastic shell, it would seem like a higher quality cover. I know they wouldn't be able to provide real leather for that price (well, maybe they could!) but that's my one quibble. Otherwise, this is a useful accessory, and one of my essentials along with car charger & screen protector.
