I have crashed this drone more times than I can count, but thankfully it isn't as fragile as it looks. Not even the rotors have cracked or broken off...yet! But first things first. Unpacking no problem, everything is in a plastic zippered hardcase that's covered in a grey material. The inside is a molded case that securely holds all items in place. There is the remote controller with space to attach your phone (to which you'll dowloan the app) an extra set of props, control sticks a mini screwdiver, and charging cable. The drone battery and the controller both charge via usb-c cable. After both are fully charge all that needs to be done is extend the drone arms, calibrate, and connect to satellites for GPS flight. Now back to flying. Practice will eventually make perfect but the weather her in Michigan hasn't let go of winter yet. I most def want to try having the drone to follow me using the phone. Most of my crashes are occuring because I didn't read the whole stupid manual, so landing isn't the easist thing. The crash avoidance is on the bottom of the drone whereas higher end drone have more zones to avoid accidents. It's lightweight, takes an SD card - the slot is well hidden on the bottom of drone - this os not included. I will update this posting at a later date with pics/video. I'm looking forward to time on the water checking out the freighters!

The flying time of each battery is the hover time of the drone. If the speed of the fly is faster or functions of the drone been activated, the flying time will be reduced. Generally, the P30 battery supports 20 minutes fly. Besides, we currently sell the battery kit of P30 drone on our Snaptain official website.

The P30 is a GPS drone and set to GPS mode by default. It can definitely hover without moving because GPS can recognize and define the coordinate by satellite signals. Thus, when it hovers in the air, you can capture flying videos or photos.

    Excellent entry level drone

Snaptain P30 is a powerful and compact drone. It comes with built-in GPS and a 4K HDR camera. Being a compact drone and weighing only 249g, you do not need to register the drone on the FAA site. The setup is straightforward and the included instructions are easy to follow. Make sure you fully charge the drone battery as well as the remote battery before you do your flight. It can take up to 3 hours to charge the drone battery. I like that there is a USB C cable included for charging, but make sure to use it with the wall adapter. The drone has a built-in GPS sensor which makes it easier to fly. The return to home, follow you mode worked well and comes in handy. The drone will also return to the starting point if you lose signal or if you run out of battery. The flight time of the drone is merely 20 min, which feels short. The drone only comes with one battery, and I am not sure if there are ways to buy spare batteries currently. The drone is not recommended to be flown in windy conditions, but it did hold its own when I tried it at minimal wind. The camera quality on the drone is surprisingly good. It has a 4K/20fps camera that captures images and transmits them in real-time to your phone. Make sure you install a MicroSD card so the pictures and videos can be stored at a higher resolution. Overall, this is an excellent beginner level drone that you can pick up if you are looking to get into the hobby of flying drones.

Please make sure to pair the drone with the remote successfully. Here are some steps for your reference:
      1. Ensure the drone and remote have enough power.
      2. Restart the drone first, then switch on the remote control.
      3. Refer to the picture shown in the link for pairing. https://prnt.sc/VUekO7dnOOM_
      4. Reduce the distance between the remote control and the drone.

Besides, for a better flight, we suggest that you control the drone with the remote and view the image in front of the camera in the app.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. Please try to charge the battery for more than 5 hours by the following tips and then press and hold the On/Off button for 3 seconds to see if the battery can be charged?
      1. Make sure that you are using the regular 5V/2A adapter. Please don't use a fast charging power adapter.
      2. It's not recommended charging the batteries by USB port of the computer. (The power of the USB port of the computer is too low to charge).
      3. Please kindly use your another Type-C charging cable to have a try.
      4. Please check the battery terminals/connections, verify the charger for damage or loose connectors.

The best drone I've owned so far!

This is a great entry level non-toy drone but there is a little bit of a learning curve needed to operate this device. I like that the equipment is very precise, and despite looking fragile, it is really very strong, you have to be careful if you are learning to fly it, because it can hit you hard, it connects very well, the photos and videos are great, good buy for it's price. Definitely charge the drone battery and controller battery to full before attempting to fly it. I was too eager to try mine out and when my drone battery was about to die, the drone uncontrollably shot up from 10ft to 60ft and nearly got caught in a tree when trying to emergency "low power" fly home. A great feature but be sure you learn to fly this thing in a big open field. First, when you open the package, you’ll notice a great carrying case that fits everything, including the drone and the controller. The case is great. It's nice to have storage for everything all in one spot. The accessories are good too: USB charging cable, one 1500 mAh battery, extra propellers, screwdriver and screws. The controller has its own inbuilt battery and can be charged by directly plugging in the cable. This drone is very compact and only weighs about 249 grams, which means there's no need to register is with the FAA. Pictures and video are sent to the phone as well as being stored in a SD card I installed in the drone. Picture quality is generally good. The flying is stable and precise, a little sluggish until you engage speed mode 2 where it's very fast and can get away from you. The GPS is a great feature, I've lost cheap drones on day one before as they flew out of range and off to who knows where. The manual has very clear instructions and is formatted nicely. I've flown many cheap toy drones in the past and thought I could just figure this one out, but trust me, take the time to thumb through the manual to learn how to switch control modes, calibrate, and look closely at how the return home feature works, oh and how to land the thing. I wanted a drone that won't break my heart if I destroyed it through incompetence in the first few flights, but that would still provide serviceable images out of the box. This seemed to fit the bill and, sure enough, I've crashed it pretty hard on each of the flights so far. In fact, I'm quite surprised that it has withstood my abuse without any real damage at all. That's a major plus. I've crashed it into my electrical service drop wire, palm trees, etc, and it has fallen to the ground from a height of 20' or so. I'm impressed. I live in an area where it's a bit difficult to find clear, open areas to practice and develop skills. Unless I lose it or break it, I hope to be flying it for a long time. I'm very pleased with this purchase and, even though I considered it an entry point to drone photography, I feel like this will meet my needs at least for the near future until I gain more skill and confidence. I think it's definitely worth the price and would recommend this drone.

Please confirm if there are a lot of obstacles or other signal interference around your place. Because this could result in a weak GPS signal and signal disconnection. We recommend flying the drone outdoors where GPS signals are strong, in windy or windless weather, and in open field areas where there are no trees/woods around.

When we mentioned the 4K quality, it refers to the pixel resolution of the images and videos saved in the SD card, which is 3840*2160 pixels. In this case, please go to the app>More>Image and make sure you choose 4K/20fps for SD card resolution.

Good Starter Drone with Some Work

This is the first drone I’ve had since my old Parrot drone years ago. I really love how far drones have come and some of the convenience features of the P30. First are the size and weight. This little guy comes in just under the weight where you need to register with the FAA, which makes it especially great for beginners. Furthermore, it folds down like the more expensive drones and is easy to take with you. Included is a great hard case which holds the drone, remote and up to two spare batteries if you keep one in the drone, for a total of three. Given the 20 minutes of fly time, that’s an hour of flying fun! I got this on a fairly windy day but was dying to try it out, so I loaded up the app and headed to the park. I’m not sure what the wind speed was, but it was a little gusty. Despite this the drone was able to keep itself stable throughout without any extra work on my end. I like that the app has a beginner mode that keeps the drone nearby without fear of messing something up. The remote is also great. IT has a built in clip for my phone so I can see the camera view while flying, and the joysticks come off and store in the base to make it easier to pack. Vantop included an extra set of the joysticks for when I inevitably lose one and a few extra props, too, It does not include an SD card which is necessary for video recording. I initially had trouble getting it to read some of the cards I had laying around, but had instant success with a new one out of the package. I’m going to chalk that up to the fact that I’ve reformatted these cards with weird formats in the past for various Linux applications. I highly recommend purchasing a fresh MicroSD card along with the drone so you can get right to flying it. Video quality is so-so. While it’s capable of capturing 4K video, it’s only at 20 FPS, which looks choppy. I chose to use 2.7K at 30 FPS which looks much smoother. I wish 1080P at higher quality was an option. Maybe in a future update! Captured video was somewhat washed out and displayed a lot of rolling shutter, to be expected on a lower-end drone. Also, there is no mechanical gimbal on this, just rubber bushings to absorb some shock, so video is a little shaky. However, this is all easy to overcome with some good editing software. I loaded up my test footage into iMove and ran the fixes for rolling shutter, did the automatic color correction and stabilized the footage and it looked MUCH better. It should be noted that with most editing software these fixes are quick and simple, so it’s much less work than it sounds! Charging is done by charging the battery directly into a USB-C charger, which is way more convenient that the plug-in charger on my old drone. This way you can even plug the battery into a portable battery pack or car charger when on-the-go, which is really handy! The app has a lot of modes that some of the more expensive drones include, like the ability to follow you (tried it walking around the park, really cool!) and a way to set GPS waypoints and send it on it’s way automatically. I found starting up the drone and calibrating it very easy, something that can be difficult with some drones. Just flip it over vertically and then horizontally a couple time and set it on a flat surface. Boom, you’re ready to fly! I have yet to have calibration fail on me after the first try. If I had the means I might spend a little more to get something with better video quality right out of the box, but as a starter drone this one does very well with a minimum of extra effort in post production. If you’re not too worried about video and photo quality, you can certainly get some good footage without the extra effort, The tweaking just takes it from good to great.

Great little drone! Setup could be easier

As the title says, this is a decent little drone. It was a little difficult to setup and the "Slide to Unlock" for takeoff requires you to hold your finger press on your phone longer than I would expect, but once you get going it works really great. The instructions could also be a little clearer on powering on the controller as well but once you figure it out, it works every time. The app does need an update though as key functionality like takeoff, landing, and other key functionality is obscured by the Dynamic Island on my phone making it a little difficult to access quickly in a pinch. That being said, it just makes the process take a little longer and still works well. The video is also pretty good for the size of the drone. On that topic, it weighs only 249 grams, which is light and also will exempt it from requiring FAA Remote ID software which will go into effect for larger drones this Fall. The unit also advertises 20 minutes of flight time with no payload, which I can confirm. I got about 30 minutes of fly time actually (the first time I used it) and that was with multiple power downs and restarts as I was trying to get the hang of things. The controller on the other hand lost almost half it's battery in that amount of time. I thought the controller itself would have a better battery life so I was a little disappointed in that. The controller also has a digital battery percentage however I noticed it would go up and down on power up so I'm not super convinced of its accuracy. I would also see it drop quickly in real time. The drone battery life itself is communicated via the controller and I was notified on the controller/app and via flashing red light on the drone battery itself letting me know the battery was about to die. I tested that feature a bit and it was still able to land safely under power a few minutes after this warning came up, so that's a great feature to protect the drone from damage. It also handles really well but I did have some difficulty with takeoff from a grass area (the propellers are very sensitive and not all would power up if they came in contact with grass), but it took off just fine from a hardscape area. Overall, I only took away a star because of the difficulty in setup and the app compatibility issues with the Dynamic Island, but these items will hopefully be resolved with software updates, which would make this a five star review.

I’ll start off by saying that there isn’t much if anything bad I can say about this drone. This is the first higher end drone I have used and the second one I have owned after a toy one which I found incredibly hard to fly. This drone is very easy to fly. It is very stable and stays put in the air when it is not supposed to move. It is very easy to control it with the controller and does everything it is told to do. If you have never flown a drone before, this is a great one to try out and you will not have any problems flying it. When first starting, the directions give you a few steps to do to calibrate everything. Make sure you do this exactly as written or things won’t work correctly. Move the sticks in the 5 o’clock and 7 o’clock positions to get the propellers moving. This is not obvious without the directions. Flying it is a simple as moving the sticks around to move, rotate, or change the altitude. After landing, you have to hold the left stick down for a few seconds to turn off the propellers. I don’t know if this is the correct way to do it, but it works. I initially made the mistake of turning off the controller while the propellers were spinning even though it was on the ground and it shot the drone straight up into the air. I had to quickly turn the controller back on to bring it down to the ground. I’m not sure why it did this. Maybe it had something to do with the GPS Return to Home? Who knows but it was a little scary until I realized not to do it. The video and photos look great. The videos are sharp and colors vibrant. They are also very stable and you don’t see and kind of vibration or jitter when flying it. The videos look amazing. There is an app that you can run on your phone to see the video being shown and recorded live. This also works great. I did run into a problem at first where I couldn’t get the app to talk to the drone at all even though I had my phone connect to it over WiFi. I finally discovered that you have to turn off Bluetooth and cell service on your phone to get the phone and drone to talk. This is a bit of a disappointment as there are now more steps I need to do on my phone before and after flying. And I can’t use my phone at all when using the drone. Hopefully this is something that can be fixed. It folds and comes in a really nice small case that stores everything together. In order to fit the controller into the case, you have to unscrew and remove the thumb sticks first, and then screw them on again when you want to use it. Again, extra steps that should be unnecessary, and make sure you don’t accidentally drop and lose the thumb stick when attaching or removing it. I also hope the treads on the controller that hold the thumb sticks last. Overall, great drone that I will have many hours of fun playing with it, and will have some great videos to watch and show my friends. I will be using it a lot at home and especially on vacation.
