Ok, so this drone is pretty darn good. It takes a little when you’re first starting it, but it explains all of the proper safety and air protocols. The app is very intuitive. It easily connected with the QR code provided. I was able to setup the drone within 10 minutes. You connect your phone to the drone’s remote control. The app uses your screen as the display to take videos or photos of what the camera sees. It was really fun testing the image and video quality. I tested this by hovering the drone about 8 feet off the ground and took some photos and videos. My kids thought this was hilarious and fun! I then moved the drone 20 feet high and flew it slowly forward and back taking photos and videos. The quality was great. I was very impressed with what it was able to do. Flight is very responsive. I had the drone about 20 feet off the ground to test the control sensitivity. It met my expectations and performed well! It wasn’t the fastest rotations, but it was extremely stable. I live on a farm, so this’ll be very fun to check fields with. I also plan on using it to take videos of the rivers, crops, and areal shots of my property. Battery charging took longer than expected, but the battery life for both drone and controller are great. So I suppose it’s worth the wait! Storage is in a compact and secure case. It’s very sturdy and durable, so I have peace of mind storing it. Pros: Quick moving Lightweight Compact drone Image quality is impressive Lots of cord options to connect phone to remote control Remote control comfortable in hand Traveling case App connection Battery life Cons: Slight learning curve Longer to charge than expected Have to charge the control and drone Overall: I think this is a great buy. Its mid tier price for what it can do definitely makes it appealing. I love the option of being able to add a SIM card for extra photos and video options.

Small footprint, lightweight and jetty little thing. This is an excellent entry level drone and easy enough for my preteen to learn with. I love that it comes prepackaged in its own carrying case. The one caveat is that the guards don’t fit in the case without some force or bulge so I don’t recommend packing it in. One slight annoyance is that you have to charge the battery while inside of the drone. It would’ve been to benefit to be able to keep the drone packaged and charge the battery individually. It is 4k with 30fps or 1080 at 60 fps. I’m perplexed because BestBuy has this listed as 8k and I don’t see that to be indicated anywhere on the information pamphlets, box or online that it’s capable of producing 8k footage. Hopefully, Best Buy will update their title or fact sheet. We weren’t able to get 31 min flight time, but more around 25 mins before needing to return home. I highly advise to buy more battery packs than you think you need if you want to make a day of it. The quality of footage is very good and clear. didn’t see any lag or jitters. A smooth transition from different take off modes. It’s definitely a fun drone for a newbie or younger person. It’s easier to get the hang of more quickly. It can compete with our pro drones more specifically our mini drone from a high end brand. It offers some of the same features. It’s not perfect but it’s something I would recommend.

Fantastic hobby drone with a few rough edges

The P40 Lite claims to offer top tier camera drone features in a hobbyist size package. This is a deceptively difficult thing to do given the need to stay under the 250g takeoff weight limit for non-registered drones, particularly for a company that's mostly known for targeting beginner pilots rather than professional or semi-professional users. After taking it on a few flights in a variety of conditions and doing a lot of experimentation, I'm not sure I can honestly say it's succeeded in everything it's set out to do. But, despite that, it is a remarkably fun and capable little device that I suspect many hobbyists will be very excited by. First, let's talk about some of the highlights. The drone is well designed and very portable, including a hard shell carrying case with space for up to three batteries (assuming one is stored in the drone) and the controller. Deploying the drone requires only a minute or so, and packing it up takes about the same. Charging is also done via USB-C, making it very easy to just bring with you and pull out whenever you find a good opportunity rather than having to plan everything ahead of time. Control is handled via a combination of the included controller and your phone, and for the most part it works very well. The drone handles well both on still days and in light winds, control range is excellent, and the RTH and boundary features should keep you from getting into any serious trouble. And the camera has captured some absolutely beautiful footage - though admittedly in some cases I found it to be prone to oversaturating the colors on bright days. It also includes a RemoteID module, which technically isn't required for the drone in its base configuration but is required if you choose to install the optional (included) blade guards which push the takeoff weight high enough that it requires registration. Unfortunately, this is also when I started noticing some issues with the drone. The first warning came when I opened up the phone app and saw a lot of very basic spelling mistakes and other translation errors. Badly translated apps are hardly unheard of these days, but I do find it's often accompanied by a general lack of polish and attention to detail in other areas. And I definitely feel like I ran into a lot of that after getting familiar enough with the handling to switch off of beginner mode. To be clear the drone still flies just as well on manual control in its unlocked state as it did with manual control. But most of the advanced autonomous features were pretty hit or miss. Smart follow really seems to struggle to identify what you want it to track, and absolutely cannot be trusted to keep the target in frame. Additionally it had a strange tendency to start violently rocking back and forth whenever the breeze picked up, which even with the otherwise excellent gimbal produced fairly unusable footage. I really don't know what was causing that behavior in particular, as it would always stop the moment I resumed direct control and it seems to have no problem when performing landings or takeoffs in similar conditions, which makes it a bit hard to plan for when trying to take video. Also, though this is a much more specific complaint, if you have a phone with a pinhole selfie camera right at the top there is a very good chance that the takeoff and landing controls on your screen will fall directly behind it. Given the popularity of this phone design and the importance of that button in particular, I really do feel like this is something that should be addressed in a future version of the app. All in all, I do think the P40 Lite has a lot to recommend it and is a great option for the more serious hobbyist. But with so many of the more advanced features being prone to odd and unpredictable behavior, I do find it hard to recommend for anything more than that.

Great Outdoor Starter Drone with 4K Video

The Snaptain P40 LITE turned out to be a great drone for its price range. Setup was straightforward, and it was incredibly easy to fly. This makes it a great choice for beginners getting into the hobby, but also a solid option for someone looking to use it in a semi professional setting. Since it is a lightweight drone under 250g, it is exempt from many of the rules and regulations required for larger drones. This was my first Snaptain drone, and I was impressed with everything from battery life to the smart shooting features. There are a few areas that could be improved, but that is the case with nearly any drone. Range and Connection The range was more than enough for my needs. On paper, it can travel up to 3.72 miles, but that is well beyond line of sight, and I would not recommend testing that limit. I only experienced a few connection issues that caused me to send it home, but it returned and landed safely every time. I have lost connections with other drones before and this one handled it very well. Build Quality At 249g, the materials are necessarily lightweight, so it is not indestructible. It also lacks rear and side sensors, so collisions can happen if you are not careful. That said, it still feels surprisingly solid for its weight class. My main complaint is with the protective cover for the camera and gimbal. It feels cheap, does not align well, and can be frustrating to put on when packing up. A few times I worried I had damaged the gimbal because of how awkward it was to reattach in a hurry. Features The feature list is not extremely long, but it covers the essentials: follow me, hover, and low battery auto landing. My biggest disappointment was the marketing. It is advertised as an “8K drone,” which most consumers would assume means 8K video. In reality, it shoots 4K video and 8K stills. That did not bother me personally since 4K video is more than enough, but I think the advertising should be clearer. It is a bit like selling a car as 45 MPG, then noting in fine print that you only get that if you stay under 30 MPH. Final Thoughts The Snaptain P40 LITE is a great entry level drone for anyone who does not want to deal with FAA restrictions but still wants to capture smooth, high resolution video and photos. Keep in mind there is no obstacle avoidance. It cannot detect trees and it should not be flown indoors.

This is my third drone. My first two are from the same brand, while this is my first from Snaptain. I am not a professional photographer or drone operator. I do have a Youtube channel and fly my drone (if allowed) to get b-roll footage for my videos. There are some things I like and there are some things I do not like. First, the form factor is very familiar to my other drones. The controller feels familiar. You can remove the joysticks when storing them away. There is a an area to keep them with the controller. The holder for your phone is nice. Previous controllers, the holder adjustments are tight and hard to extend. This one is just right. It can hold my iPhone 16 Pro with a case. You do not have to fiddle around with wireless connection between the controller and your phone. Just plug in using the included USB-C cable and it recognizes it. From unboxing, to charging, to first flight is fairly quick and easy. Flying it is fun and again, familiar. Nothing new to get used to if you have flown a drone before. But flying forward and backwards is responsive but turning left or right is not as fast and responsive. This is on the slowest speed setting. I have crashed it flying around the backyard next to the side of my home. I was not quick enough to maneuver it away. I had some wind also and it was not staying as stable as my other drones. It kept giving me a warning that not enough satellites are detected. I went a few blocks away and it was the same. The most satellites it detected was 10. The symbol went from yellow to green. It did not seem to make a difference with stability when hovering with light wind. I do not think this has any sensors to avoid things. I have come close to many objects and it did not prevent me from getting closer or have any audible warning tones. Luckily, it comes with blade guards but when I crashed, the camera flipped itself up – I guess to protect the lens. Battery life is okay. It only comes with one USB-C cable. So if you want to charge both controller and drone at the same time, you would have to source another cable. If this is your first drone or if you are upgrading from a less capable drone, I think it is a good one. But if you are coming from another drone with similar capabilities and more, you may feel it is a downgrade.

Good Beginner Drone with Room for Improvement

The P40 LITE is a good starter drone with some fairly stiff competition. It may be necessary to prioritize what features you're after to see which direction to choose. The P40 LITE does have features that drones in this class/price point don't always offer, however the picture quality may not quite be up to others in the same class. - Setup Getting started and preparing for your first flight with the P40 is easy enough. The app helps walk you through the process, making it easy to get started. After charging the drone and controller, connecting your phone to the controller is the last step, and you're ready to go. I did have a bit of an odd experience on my first flight. After inserting the battery, placing the drone on my porch, and initiating the launch. The drone moved to its hover position, but then it immediately moved hard to its left, unfortunately, directly into a post on my porch. It wasn't moving very fast, and I was able to use the emergency stop to prevent any damage. I ran the calibrations for the drone and attempted to take off again, and this time the drone worked perfectly. I'm not sure if something happened during shipping that may have disrupted it, but the calibration seemed to do the trick. Snaptain includes an extra set of props with the drone, so even though they were fine (save for some minor scuffs), I did go ahead and swap them out to be safe. Which was good experience on learning how to do maintenance on the drone. Which is simply just using the included screwdriver and making sure to use the correctly orientated props. Swapping them took about 5 minutes. - Control If you have flown a drone before the controls will be very familiar how to use the P40. But if not, the P40 is very intuitive, and you will be able to get up and running quickly. The shooting modes are pretty straightforward, and the subject tracking worked pretty well in my experience, only losing the person or vehicle that I was tracking in overly complicated situations, like other objects passing into view. The predefined drone movements are also helpful to perform otherwise difficult maneuvers. - Picture Quality I think this may be the weaker spot of the P40. The pictures can look good, but they are some things that I don't particularly like. For instance, there seems to be some fairly heavy sharpening done to images. I wish there was a setting to adjust this. The P40 allows you to shoot in RAW file formats too, using the Digital Negative (DNG) format. This helps and does allow for more control, but the image quality itself isn't quite as good as similar drones in this category. Video seems to fair a bit better in my experience. It's still a bit more artificially sharp looking than I would like, but it can look pretty good. Overall, I think this is a good starter drone. If you're interested in trying your hand at flying a drone, this is a good place to start. The picture quality may be a bit behind others in this range, but some of the features (like subject tracking) are typically limited to drones above this class/price point. Pros: Good flying experience, nice controller, easy setup, small package, great carrying case Cons: No included battery brick, experience could still use a bit of polish, picture quality isn't always the best

Easy to fly Drone for all levels

I've flown this drone for a few weeks now. It's very easy to set up for the first time and use. First, right out the box, I like how it has guards for the propellers so that new pilots don't accidentally fly it into objects that'll damage the propellers. Secondly, the controller does not have a display/information screen, and instead you connect it directly to your phone using one of the included USB-C/USB-B/Lightning cables. On the phone, you can see the birds-eye-view that the drone sees. The menu options are very straightforward and even allows you to set limits on how far and high the drone can go. The view that you can see on the phone and downloaded video/photo is amazingly clear. The gimbal style camera allows it to steadily record for a smooth video. My only complaint is that the battery seems to take an extremely long time to charge. From a fully exhausted battery to fully charged, it took about 5 hours. However, that might have just been due to the type of charger I was using. Time may vary for others.

This review is for the Snaptain - P40 LITE 3-Axis Gimbal 4K Camera Drone. Unboxing you will find the drone, battery, remote controller, spare propellers, screwdriver, screws, user manual, quick start guide, charging cable, 3 different RC cables to connect to a phone. (lighting, USB-C, USB-Micro) and a very nice carrying case to hold everything. It really does come with everything you need to fly. And the carrying case has room for two more batteries to extend your flight time if you wish to add them later. Set up is easy after getting the snaptain go app it will walk you through step by step. Showing you how to get going. It does use a phone so you can see where you are flying. During the day I had great results with both taking still photos and videos. Night time, now that was a different story. I would only use this drone during the daylight hours. It is super easy to control and fly. I was averaging about 20 minutes flight time per battery. The controls are so smooth, I was able to fly in the front door of my house and out a window on the back side. I think this would be a good drone for a beginner. Has ok transmission range and good speed. And it is very small so it's easy to carry around with you.

I've owned many drones at this point, from some of the earliest generation to some of the more expensive consumer grade drones. Unfortunately for the price, this one leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. Packaging: To start, the packaging is decent, it's packed in a carrying case with the battery, controller and multiple link cables for connecting your phone to the controller. It has the look of one of the more familiar brands in this segment but that's where the similarity stops. Construction: From the moment I touched the drone I was disappointed in how cheaply it felt and is made. There are plastic panels that do not match up properly, the plastic casing around the battery itself is uneven, it was clear before I even powered it up that it has no sensors to prevent running into obstacles (the only sensor I even see is a down facing camera that I assume is for landing, but I'll talk about that in a moment). It does come with spare propellers, probably because it's going to run into things whether you want it to or not. Use: Sigh... Where to start. It powers up the same as most drones I've used, particularly that bigger name brand that everyone is familiar with, tap then hold the power and it turns on, same with the controller. The app for the phone isn't 'bad', it's mostly just limited. I had to restart the app for it to see that the phone was connected, then restart the drone again after that for the app to see the drone, but after that connectivity remained stable. Flight is... almost best effort. As soon as I took off, despite having solid GPS signal, the drone drifts around, not maintaining a single position as I've become accustomed to with most drones that are more than just toys. The downfacing sensor either doesn't work or doesn't work well. It does state that it updated the 'home' location on takeoff so that you can press the return to home button to land, but even when doing that, it still landed about 10 ft away from the original takeoff point in an area that didn't even look remotely like the place it took off from (took off from a brick path, landed in grass about 10 ft away). The drone starts in a beginner mode which is easy enough to turn off and really just limits the distance and altitude, both of which can be adjusted outside of the beginner mode as well, which is nice. Once in the air, as I mentioned it sort of drifts lazily, unable to keep its horizontal position very well. I tested flying it towards a tree and there was nothing that prevented it from running into it. There are other drones in this price point that do have those sensors to prevent collisions. Flight time is poor. I got about 25 minutes of flight time on a full battery not even doing anything crazy with it, with the flight mode in 'normal' not sport or beginner or smooth mode. On the note of the battery, charging it is strange, when the charge gets near full, the drone makes the noise of powering up, then it seems to restart the charge, at which point you need to unplug it then turn off the drone or it'll just run the battery down. The battery also must be charged in the drone as it does not come with a separate charger (I do not know if they sell a separate charger). Image quality is decent, although it will not save images back to your phone, it requires an SDCARD in the drone for any image or video capture. I did not try maxing out the range as I was uncomfortable enough flying it close to me that I had zero confidence in it returning to me if I lost sight of it, however within line of sight it was fine. Overall: Buy a different drone. There are other small lightweight drones by major manufacturers in this price point that are far better than this one. I cannot recommend this drone.

I have to say that this drone is very cool. It’s very powerful and takes off very quickly. Has a wonderful camera where I’m able to record and take beautiful HD videos. I use this at a birthday party and it was really cool to share the moment of the whole family standing next to each other and the quality was beautiful I have tried other drones that have either been too loud or the camera quality was not good. Has a great reception and comes with extra blades and three batteries! The drone is definitely worth the money for the quality. There’s a lot of options out there, but this is definitely quality

I went to Best buy wanting to buy a DJI mavic pro and possibly the headset. I was told they don't carry those anymore except online. So I started looking at there drones they carried still and the snaptain power pack deal stuck out to me. It was best choice out of the drones they had. I'm glad I picked this drone it flys amazing the controller giving with the drone is a nice and durable controller u can tell it's not a cheap flimsy one that will break. It held my pixel pro with no problems it could of fit a bigger phone. I was able to fly this drone for about 30 min or longer on one battery and I had two left. I really enjoyed the throwing of the drone plus how the drone will come back to u if battery starts diying or starts loosing gps it will come to where it started flying . I was amazed how this drone is built and how it flys and what surprised me most is the camera was excellent I couldn't believe how good of shots it took if any one is reading this and has doubts bout this drone I say don't just buy it u won't regret it for the price u will love this drone. I recommend getting the extra battery's in the upgrade it's only a $150.00 more. It was well worth it.

My DJI mini 4 Pro had issues with its main board so i picked up this Snaptain camera drone. Out the gate, the motors are A LOT louder than the DJI and the camera is definitely not as good. Flying was also not great, as you had to constantly adjust the trim and its gimbal didnt do as good of a job as the DJI in windy conditions. The straw that broke the camels back was the fsct that you have to download video recordings before you could view. You couldnt quick view them as you can on the DJI drones. And the download was ungodly slow. The best option was to remove the memory card and review from a PC. Not the beat when working in the field. Too expensive as a toy and not good enough for any professional use. I ended up fixing my DJI through their repair center and it is worlds ahead of the Snaptain drones.

My kids have been wanting a drone for some time, and to be honest so have I. We selected this model, as it has great reviews and was on sale. As soon as we took it out of the box and charged it up, the family and I had a blast. It is very easy to operate, even my six year old was able to use. Picture quality is great. I love that it folds up, so we can take with us on trips. If you are in the market for a drone, and not looking to drop thousands, I would highly recommend.

It works OK. It doesn’t go as fast as it says a does in the specs. It says maximum flight time of 31 minutes on the website, but I only get 21 at the most. It also says on Best Buy website that it goes 54 miles an hour. The most I’ve gotten is 32.1 miles an hour. It also says on the website that it has a 6 mile flight distance from the controller. I sometimes am less than a mile away and it starts to lose signal and video. That’s with clear line of site. I don’t think there’s any way I could get close to 6 miles

We really appreciate your feedback to make this item better. I would like to present our deepest apologies for all the inconvenience.

Please allow us to provide the following explanations regarding your concerns:

      1. Please note that the battery life refers to the hover time in low-speed mode under windless conditions, which is approximately 28–31 minutes per battery. However, during actual flight, factors such as wind resistance and high-speed mode can shorten the flight time.

      2. The drone's maximum horizontal speed is 33.5 miles per hour. The speed displayed on the product page was incorrect due to a platform system issue. We have already contacted the platform and submitted the correct specifications for them to correct. Thank you for your understanding.

      3. The drone’s maximum transmission distance is 3.72 miles, not 6 miles. This was also a platform error. If you're only able to fly about 1 mile, it is likely due to strong environmental interference. To achieve longer distances, please ensure you fly in open areas with minimal obstacles and low interference. Also, make sure the remote controller antennas are properly positioned and always facing the direction of the drone during flight.

Meanwhile, we are dedicated to ensuring your 100% satisfaction. Please reach out to us via support@snaptain.com. We are more than happy to assist you further.

We offer a 12-month warranty for this product, plus lifetime technical support. Our standard for responding to email quests is less than 24 hours, and we look forward to hearing from you! snaptain

I have been so impressed with this drone. I never used a drone before and was unsure how difficult it would be to learn, but I has been a breeze. The handling is so easy and the camera is so clear. I highly recommend this drone. Every time I use it a crowd gathers to marvel.
