Customers are saying
Customers love the SP680 2.7k Drone's ease of use and camera quality, frequently praising its user-friendly design and decent image capture for the price. However, some users experienced challenges with the drone's wind resistance and stability, particularly in breezy conditions, noting difficulties with control and smooth landings. The drone's lightweight design, while contributing to its affordability, was also cited as a factor affecting its performance in windy environments. Concerns were also raised regarding the responsiveness of the controls and the drone's ability to maintain a stable position.

A good drone to learn on.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great little starter drone to learn how to control a drone that doesn't have GPS. The GPS drones will spoil you, but calm sea's never made a good sailor. This drone will drift a bit from side to side, it won't hover perfectly in 1 spot, it gets blown off course by the smallest breezes, but all of that is what makes it fun and challenging. It was pretty easy to put together, I didn't need to read any instructions, I just looked at the picture on the box and could tell where everything was supposed to go. You need to install the landing legs, and the rotor guards if you want them. There are some tiny screws that come with a magnetic screwdriver, and I can vouch the magnetic screw driver works much better than my 6 in one I first tried to use. The batteries that came with the drone last a long time for how small they are. I've been getting about 15 minutes each of flight time. They do seem to take a long time to charge up though for how small they are.. at least a few hours, but you can charge all 3 of them at the same time with the included 2 chargers. The trim on the remote is kind of a let down, it kind of works, but I could never get the drone centered, it always drifts one way or the other.

Extremely Fun and Easy to Use
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's really fun flying this drone. It is very very easy to use and control. I first used it in a warehouse at work where it was a controlled environment with no wind and it performed perfectly. The drone responded to every input on the remote and was able to land itself with the push of a button. I had a short flight time of about 15 minutes but it was enough to enjoy zipping across the warehouse. The drone struggles in the wind when it is flown outside but for the most part it holds up. The range is pretty good and the camera connected to the phone allows you to see what the drone sees which makes flying it a little more fun. Overall, this drone was very simple to set up, easy to fly, and enjoyable to use. The camera isn't anything out of this world but it gets the job done with a clear image on pictures and video. It takes an SD card to save footage and is easily extractable. The companion app is cool because it allows you to see how much flight time you have left and activate certain functionalities like recording or take pictures. It's extremely fun to play with.

||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.junk. it kept going up on its own with no input from me. also didn’t hover in place at all. it kept drifting from side to side by large margins. the trim buttons didn’t do anything and this was inside where there is no wind. wouldn’t connect to my iphone xs but did on my ipad mini which obviously doesn’t fit in the remote holder.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. In order to help you well, could you please try the following tips to see if it works about the drone don't hover in place?
1. Ensure the drone and remote have enough power.
2. Restart the drone first, then switch on the remote control.
3. Pair and calibrate the drone with the remote before each flight.
4. Use trim function to adjust the drone.
5. Fly the drone in a breezy environment without obstacles to avoid interference signal.
Regarding the APP issue, please follow these steps to troubleshoot.
1. Uninstall the app and reinstall. When reinstalling, agree to all permissions required by the app.
2. In the Wi-Fi settings of the mobile phone, click Forget the Wi-Fi and reconnect. After the connection is successful, when the phone prompts "This Wi-Fi cannot access the network, do you want to continue to connect?", choose to continue the connection.
3. Restart the drone, turn off the mobile Wi-Fi, then turn on the Wi-Fi again, and turn off the mobile data and Bluetooth.
4. Try other mobile phones to connect to the drone.
5. Please try it outdoors and in a non-interference environment, such as outside without high-voltage cables or electronic equipment.

Durable, Fun and Many Features
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Using the Snaptain SP680 is a blast. I don’t know why, but controlling this little drone and making it do some tricks is fascinating. It also will give new drone owners like me an introduction into the ‘drone world’ using an affordable drone with a lot of features including a camera for stills or videos. This unit comes with a very nice set of manuals including a quick start guide and a more complete user manual. I do recommend you go to the more complete manual and read it cover to cover so that you have a good base of knowledge. You can operate the drone with just the handheld remote control or you can download the ‘Snaptain Nova’ app to your cell phone and control the drone completely via the cell phone. The unit comes with a mounting bracket to attach your cell phone to the remote. The unit has a nice camera that you can position manually to point down or at an angle (but you can’t move the camera once it is airborne which is fair at this price point). You can also combine the remote and the cell phone to control the drone with your remote (and its joysticks and buttons); and just use the cell phone to see the camera video live. There is a slot for a micro SD card on the drone, so you can save your videos and still shots – nice touch on a mid to entry level device. The manual is quite clear on the use of all the buttons and joysticks. I will say you should at least be familiar with how to pair the remote to the drone, how to calibrate the drone and how to trim the flight so that the drone will hover without moving in any direction till you want it to. Make sure you know how to do lift off and landing which is a simple button push. I did bash the drone into a fence a few times but it didn’t sustain any damage. The package comes with 3 batteries offering about 15 minutes flight time each. You also get a complete set of replacement rotor-blades, and two double battery chargers. The control box uses 4 AA batteries, separate from the three drone rechargeable sets. It might be helpful to note the drone battery compartment door swings down, then slide in the battery, connect the wiring plug and swing up to close. I thought it pulled straight out and the diagrams were too small to tell. Even if you pull the door off, you can simply insert the door back in. The initial set up includes mounting the landing struts first. Then if you are new like me, mount the blade guards. All of these press into place easily but you should also use the included tiny screws to ensure they won’t come off. A few other built-in commands are really handy including making the drone go in a circle, making the drone do a 360 degree flip and a command to make the drone return to the point where it lifted off. You can make the drone move in any direction and you can make it speed up too. The default is low speed. I didn’t increase speeds yet. I’m waiting till I’m more proficient. I admit one puzzling default is the drone starts out with a back to front fixed orientation. This means you must know which is the front when it is in the air and thus know which way to move the joystick. But there is a button for ‘Headless Mode’ which is important since in this mode the joystick movements will always mean what I expected This is to say that if I moved the stick right the drone moves right. There are other commands built in as well and it is a lot of fun to learn more about your drone as you gain skills. I actually sent an email to support when I saw only two batteries. They responded within 12 hours to tell me the third battery was already in the drone, which it was. So I call that great support. I highly recommend this affordable, durable, well-designed and entertaining device.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. To better help you, we wonder if the drone cannot fly properly.
Please kindly note that the SP680 is not a GPS drone. In this case, we suggest that you fly the drone in a no wind or breeze day and open field place where there are no trees/woods around.

Everything is in the box - good beginner drone!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let’s start this off with a disclaimer: I am NOT a drone guy. I love tech, gadgets, you name it—but I’ve not spent much time with drones. They’ve always fascinated me, but I’ve always resisted going down the rabbit hole for a couple of reasons. I know that there is a significant learning curve to drone handling (or at least, to do it well) and I’m not ready to make that expensive of a mistake by flying a device into a lake or having it plummet to the ground and smash to pieces. Second, the sheer cost of entry, at least up until recently, was more than I was willing to spend on a hunch. I can justify nearly any tech purchase, but always struggled to pull the trigger on drones. Enter the Vantop Snaptain SP680, a very accessible drone (from a budget perspective) that on the surface seemed to be a decent starter drone. In some ways, it turned out to be the perfect drone for me, a noob to the space. I can’t speak much to how it compares to other drones, but I do know that I was able to get the hang of things relatively quickly. There are enough features built in (hover capabilities, flight trimming, speed/sensitivity adjustment) that make it a comfortable flying experience for inexperienced users. My wife and both my kids (11 and 13), who are as unfamiliar with drones as I am, were able to pick up basic operation in no time. The app is, as far as I can tell, lackluster. It’s nice to have a view of what’s going on from the drone’s perspective, but with the little bit of lag (perhaps due to a budget Wi-Fi antenna) in the video, flying in headless mode isn’t always the most reliable experience. It’s a very lightweight package—both the drone and the controller. I’d like a controller with a bit more heft, even if it’s just filled with weights. Things feel off-kilter when your phone is attached with the included mount. The lightweight drone is very easily impacted by wind, and flying in windy conditions around trees carries with it some risk (especially very tall trees). I did get it stuck in a tree once, but was able to retrieve it. I can’t complain about much on this drone—at $160, with some pretty capable features, 3 batteries (each with about 15 minutes worth of flying time) and everything you need to get started right in the box, it’s a good choice for first-time drone users.
