      Hello Microwave,
Thank you for taking a moment to leave your review on the Ring
Solar Panel. We know how important it is to have peace of mind when it
comes to your home security and having an unresponsive device can be concerning.
Please know that we are here to assist and are confident that we can find you a
      resolution in a timely manner.
After reading your review it seems that your Ring Solar Panel
is not fully charging your Ring Spotlight Camera Battery. Ring recommends at least three to four hours of direct sunlight, depending on your usage. Make sure there are no obstructions that could be casting a shadow on your solar power device such as an extended roof, trees branches, or bushes. If your installation area is frequently very cloudy or gets a lot of rain or snow, this could limit the amount of sunlight that your solar power device receives.
The solar panel requires direct sunlight. Filtered/indirect sunlight through the clouds will not provide a charge to your doorbell/camera. First thing to know is the size of this thing dwarfs the camera. Second thing is the bracket is terrible. It only allows the panel to tilt up and down (or side to side if mounted that way) so it’s hard to adjust it to catch sun. Finally, it needs several hours of direct sun to actually fully charge a device that gets regular use so it’s not very good for north facing or shaded applications.

      Hello Henike,

The Ring Solar Panel is designed to be a convenient power source to help charge and extend the battery life in your Ring Camera. The panel requires several hours of direct sunlight every day to effectively charge the battery. The ability to recharge the battery varies based on device settings, motion notifications, and sun exposure in the area of placement. The Solar Panel should not be installed in a shaded area.

We agree that extending the time between manual recharges of the battery pack is essential when it comes to monitoring activity around your home. Please visit our community forum at https://community.ring.com/, at your earliest convenience. We'd like to provide you some solutions and suggestions that will work well for you and your home's environment.

So I was very high on this solar panel but ultimately, it did not live up to my expectations. It was allowing my battery to keep a longer charge but then my battery started to die faster. I changed the battery thinking it was faulty but the same thing happened. I am hoping they improve this solar panel because when it was working it worked great.

      Hi Jcbaker,

The Ring Solar Panel is designed to be a convenient power source to help charge and extend the battery life of your Ring Spotlight or Stick Up Cam. We understand that extending the time between manual recharges of the battery pack is essential when it comes to monitoring activity around your home.

The panel requires several hours of direct sunlight every day to provide a trickle charge to the battery. Its ability to recharge the battery varies based on device settings, motion notifications, and sun exposure in the area of placement. It's important to note that this accessory not an ideal solution for shaded areas. The panel is a power source, as soon as you plug it into the Ring camera it starts working, but only provides power when getting direct sunlight.

Our priority is ensuring you to have a device you can rely on to keep you connected to activity around your home. Please reach out to us today at https://community.ring.com/ for additional tips and support!

      Sincerely,

      Hello Megan,

We value the experience you have with Ring, and want to ensure the products you invest in are meeting your needs and expectations. It is essential to have peace of mind when it comes to your home security and the battery life in your Ring camera plays a big role in that. The Ring Solar Panel is a great addition to prolong the time between manual recharges of the battery.

While the batteries in Ring cameras can go months between recharges with normal use. This is dependent on a number of factors in your home's environment such as the local weather, signal strength, and the number of activities captured. The more events captured by your Ring camera, the more your battery is used to power the live 1080p HD video stream to your device. To prevent excessive activity, you can adjust your motion settings to a lower sensitivity, disable certain zones, or change motion frequency to Regularly or Periodically.

We understand at this time you have returned the Solar Panel, and decided to install one of our hardwired cameras, which is great to hear. If you have any additional questions, please reach out to us today at https://community.ring.com/. We look forward to hearing from you.

      All the Best,
      Danielle with Ring Ring

      Hi BBYReview,

Thank you for taking the time to reach out and leave your experience with the Ring Solar Panel. In order for the Solar Panel to provide the best performance, your Ring battery must be fully charged before using the Solar Panel as a charging source. You should then notice a small but steady increase in battery every day. This way, you can prolong the time between having to manually recharge the battery. Please note that our solar panel is not intended to charge a Ring battery from 0 to 100 percent.

We would love to answer any other questions you might have with you directly, and kindly ask that you reach out to us today to get connected with a Ring specialist as soon as possible.

      Best,

I had hoped that this would adequately charge my Ring Stick Up camera, but even though it was facing South and got plenty of sun, the camera batteries would not hold a charge for more than a few hours, and charge was critically low by 8 or 9 pm. I tried a second unit with the same result. I cannot recommend.
