      Hello Brain,

Thank you for taking a moment to leave your review of the Ring Solar Panel. We know how important it is to have peace of mind when it comes to your home security, and having an unresponsive device can be concerning. Please know that we are here to assist and are confident that we can find you a resolution in a timely manner.

After reading your review, it seems that your Ring Solar Panel is not fully charging your Ring Spotlight Camera Battery. Ring recommends at least three to four hours of direct sunlight, depending on your usage. Make sure there are no obstructions that could cast a shadow on your solar power device, such as an extended roof, tree branches, or bushes. If your installation area is frequently very cloudy or gets a lot of rain or snow, this could limit the amount of sunlight that your solar power device receives.

The solar panel requires direct sunlight. Filtered/indirect sunlight through the clouds will not provide a charge to your doorbell/camera. Here is a helpful article that explains this in more detail: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/115005282806-Solar-Panel-for-Spotlight-Cam-and-Stick-Up-Cam-Battery-Information.

      Hello Busniessownerentrepur,

Our top priority at Ring is to ensure that our customers have the best possible experience with our products. It is important to us that you have all the necessary information to ensure that your setup experience is seamless. We truly value your feedback, simply because it helps us improve the product from a consumer standpoint.

Your Spotlight Cam battery is charged using a common micro-USB cable (an orange one is included in your Ring box). The micro-USB cable can be plugged into any USB power source such as a computer. Your battery will take around five to 10 hours to fully charge depending on whether the USB cable is plugged into a USB port or into a wall outlet.
To charge your Spotlight Cam battery:
*Open the battery compartment, press the white button and lift open.
*Remove the battery by pressing the release tab.
*Connect any micro-USB charger to the charging port in the battery. During charging both the red and green lights will light up.
*Your battery is fully charged when the light on the battery shines a solid green.
*Slide the fully charged battery back into Spotlight Cam until it clicks in place.
*Firmly close the battery compartment door. It might take a little pressure, but you’ll know it’s secure when you hear a click.
*Spotlight Cam will power up after a minute and be ready for use.

      Hello Home,

We value the experience you have with Ring, and want to ensure the Ring Cam is meeting the standards it's intended to provide. It is essential to have peace of mind when it comes to your home security and the battery life in your Ring camera plays a big role in that. The Ring Cam is designed to be a DIY home security solution that can be trusted to provide you with lasting coverage.

While the battery in your Ring camera can go months between recharges with normal use. This is dependent on a number of factors in your home's environment such as the local weather, signal strength, and the number of activities captured. The more events captured by your Ring camera, the more your battery is used to power the live 1080p HD video stream to your device. To prevent excessive activity, you can adjust your motion settings to a lower sensitivity, disable certain zones, or change motion frequency to Regularly or Periodically.

The Ring Solar Panel is a great addition to prolong the time between manual recharges of the battery. Ensuring the camera is set up properly within the Ring app and the solar panel is receiving enough sunlight is our top priority. Here is a helpful article which helps you decide if a Solar Panel or Super Solar Panel are a better solution for your home's environment: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360027286272-Picking-the-Correct-Solar-Panel-for-Your-Environment.

      Hello Cris,

Ring Solar Panel devices are a supplement to your camera's battery, not a substitute. While your solar power device will extend your battery’s life and the time between needed recharges, it does not eliminate the need to recharge your battery. Rest assured, we are here to provide you with information regarding why the Solar Panel is not showing as connected and charging.

Your solar charger or solar panel will only show as connected in the Ring app while it has stored power. Should the device be out of the sun long enough to completely run out of power, it will show up as “Not Connected” in the Ring app. Once the device is exposed to enough sunlight to charge up, the status will return to “Connected.” In order to extend the lifetime of the lithium-ion battery, your solar panel will not begin charging your battery until its percentage drops below 90%. You may see the solar device’s status as “Not Connected” in your Ring app when your battery is over 90% charge. This is normal behavior. Here is a helpful article to review: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360061517732-Solar-Charger-and-Solar-Panel-for-Ring-Doorbells-troubleshooting.

We invite you to reach out to our online community forum, which can be found on our website, if any additional information is needed regarding the Ring Solar Panel. Hello Solarpanel,

The Ring Solar Panel is designed to be a convenient power source to help charge and extend the battery life in your Ring Camera. The panel requires several hours of direct sunlight every day to effectively charge the battery. The ability to recharge the battery varies based on device settings, motion notifications, and sun exposure in the area of placement. The Solar Panel should not be installed in a shaded area.

We agree that extending the time between manual recharges of the battery pack is essential when it comes to monitoring activity around your home. Please visit our community forum at https://community.ring.com/, at your earliest convenience. We'd like to provide you some solutions and suggestions that will work well for you and your home's environment.

The Ring Solar Panel requires several hours of direct sunlight every day to recharge the battery. The ability to recharge the battery varies based on device settings, motion notifications, and sun exposure in the area of placement.

If you haven't already, please review the Power Mode setting for your Ring Camera within the Ring app. This setting can affect how the Ring Stick Up Cam detects the solar panel, and will affect performance. To do so, please follow the steps below.

      - Launch the Ring app and select the menu in the upper left-hand corner.
      - Select your Ring Stick Up Cam.
      - Open the Device Settings tab.
      - Tap the General Settings option.

From this page, please locate the Power Mode setting and ensure Battery is selected. If not, please switch it from Wired to Battery. This way, the battery can begin using your Ring Solar Panel. Please note: you will be asked to complete a new set up for your Ring Stick Up Cam, please have your wifi password handy.

      Hello Kewee,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We agree that getting the most life from your Ring battery is essential, so that it can provide you with round the clock coverage. Ring solar power devices require three to four hours of direct sunlight a day. If your battery life is still relatively short even with the solar power device installed, it means that your doorbell’s daily activities and the subsequent power drain is more than the solar power device can provide. If you receive a lot of motion events in a day, try adjusting your sensitivity lower to cut out some unwanted motion. Here is a helpful article to provide you more insight: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360061517732-Solar-Charger-and-Solar-Panel-for-Ring-Doorbells-troubleshooting.

Unfortunately, it is not in use as we never got it to work in any way. Lot of money for decoration. We just gave up. The other cameras are fair.

      Hi redchina1950,

Your experience with Ring is important to us, as the feedback you provide gives us the opportunity to improve our products and services by addressing these concerns. Each unique home environment plays a pivotal role in the performance of the Ring Solar Panel, and we would love to get in touch with you directly to address this experience together. This allows us to assist with any changes that may need to be done to improve the performance of your Solar Panel.

The Ring Solar Panel is intended to provide you with a trickle charge to the compatible Ring camera during periods of inactivity on the device. The Solar Panel requires direct sunlight to maintain a charge and provide your device with the intended trickle charge. We would love to get connected with you at your earliest convenience to look into this concern further, and find a solution that works best for you.

We look forward to working with you,
      Caitlin with Ring Ring
