Hi Justin956. Being able to rely on the Solar Panel to help charge your Camera is important to your peace of mind. If your Solar Panel is not working, make sure the panel is not obstructed with any dirt or debris and ensure that it's firmly plugged in to the Camera. Additionally, the Solar Panel should be receiving several hours of direct sunlight per day in order to provide your Camera with a trickle charge. If you still have any questions or concerns, check out the Ring Community at https://community.ring.com/. As a peer-to-peer forum, the Ring Community allows you to interact with other neighbors and ask them for help with your Ring devices. All the best, Ashley from Ring. Ring

      Hello Deez,

Thank you for taking a moment to leave your review rating on the Ring Solar Panel. We believe that stronger communities are the key to safer neighborhoods. That is why we are driven to create products that help you protect what matters most at home, and empower you to connect with your visitors from wherever you are. Together, we’ll make neighborhoods safer!

Ring recommends at least three to four hours of direct sunlight, depending on your usage. Make sure there are no obstructions that could be casting a shadow on your solar power device such as an extended roof, trees branches, or bushes. Your solar panel will only show as connected in the Ring app while it has stored power. Should the device be out of the sun long enough to completely run out of power, it will show up as “Not Connected” in the Ring app. Once the device is exposed to enough sunlight to charge up, the status will return to “Connected.” Here is a helpful article that explains our solar devices in more detail: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360061517732-Solar-Charger-and-Solar-Panel-for-Ring-Doorbells-troubleshooting.

      Hi DavidShaffer,

We value the experience you have with Ring, and want to ensure the Ring Solar Panel is meeting the standards it's intended to provide. It is essential to have peace of mind when it comes to your home security and the battery life in your Ring camera plays a big role in that. The Ring Solar Panel is designed to be a battery extending solution, that can be trusted to provide you with lasting performance.

While the battery in your Ring camera can go months between recharges with normal use. This is dependent on a number of factors in your home's environment such as the local weather, signal strength, and the number of activities captured. The more events captured by your Ring camera, the more your battery is used to power the live 1080p HD video stream to your device. To prevent excessive activity, you can adjust your motion settings to a lower sensitivity, disable certain zones, or change motion frequency to Regularly or Periodically.

The Ring Solar Panel is a great addition to prolong the time between manual recharges of the battery. Ensuring the camera is set up properly within the Ring app and the solar panel is receiving enough sunlight is our top priority. Here is a helpful article that will help you decide which Ring Solar Panel is the best solution for your home's environment and security needs: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360027286272-Picking-the-Correct-Solar-Panel-for-Your-Environment.
