While your solar power device will extend your battery’s life and the time between needed recharges, it does not eliminate the need to recharge your battery. Hi Justin956. Being able to rely on the Solar Panel to help charge your Camera is important to your peace of mind. If your Solar Panel is not working, make sure the panel is not obstructed with any dirt or debris and ensure that it's firmly plugged in to the Camera. Additionally, the Solar Panel should be receiving several hours of direct sunlight per day in order to provide your Camera with a trickle charge. Your solar panel will only show as connected in the Ring app while it has stored power. The Ring Solar Panel is designed to be a battery extending solution, that can be trusted to provide you with lasting performance.

While the battery in your Ring camera can go months between recharges with normal use. This is dependent on a number of factors in your home's environment such as the local weather, signal strength, and the number of activities captured. The more events captured by your Ring camera, the more your battery is used to power the live 1080p HD video stream to your device. To prevent excessive activity, you can adjust your motion settings to a lower sensitivity, disable certain zones, or change motion frequency to Regularly or Periodically.

The Ring Solar Panel is a great addition to prolong the time between manual recharges of the battery. If you haven't already, please ensure that your Ring battery is fully charged. It's also important to ensure that your solar charger is properly plugged into your Spotlight Camera. Otherwise, you may not receive a consistent trickle charge.
