If you use your ring cameras/doorbells outside - you must have this. You cannot be caught off guard by batteries dying and worrying that sone important events would go unrecorded. Get this for complete peace of mind.

Great product - Horrible customer service

So maybe one star is harsh - but the customer service experience is that bad. The product is good and I have slow internet and it still is good. Instructions are easy, easy instal, etc. I was missing a small plastic piece to keep a connector from the solar panel plugged into the camera. It is probably a 50 cent piece. I used chat service online and about an hour into the chat (horrible interface, you don’t know if they are responding or not then the message appears) learned they only help people after 30 days of service. Well let’s just say I had it 31 days and you help me! I had already installed and didn’t want to take off roof! Just mail me a piece. Worked a deal out they will mail me a complete package and I will install the new panel (they said they wanted old one back) and I will mail whole box back. Just crazy. A lot of onus on the customer and the service reps to deal with a crappy platform. This company needs to change its customer service!!!!!

      Hello Summit,

We understand how important it is to rely on solar power to help charge the battery in your Ring camera. The Ring Solar Panel should do just that, by providing a trickle charge to the battery when the panel receives direct sunlight. Rest assured, we hear your concern and are here to help.

In order to function as intended, your Ring battery must be fully charged before using the solar panel. You should then notice a small but steady increase in battery every day. This way, you can prolong the time between having to manually recharge the battery. Please note that our solar panel is not intended to charge a Ring battery from 0 to 100 percent.

For any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out on our community forum at https://community.ring.com/. We look forward to hearing from you soon!

More a heads up, this can NOT be used to charge bells, due to the type of plug. Not sure why Ring would make them non universal.

      Hi HChawla.

      Thank you for reaching out.

We understand the importance of having a solid charge on your Ring Spotlight Cam or Stick Up Cam Battery so that you can have a longer time between charge cycles. The Ring Solar Panel was certainly intended to extend the battery life on your Ring Spotlight Cam or Stick Up Cam Battery, so you can rely on your security device for longer periods of time without recharging the battery. We are here today to provide you with education to assist you in finding the best solution for your home’s environment.

It sounds like your device is not charging with the Ring Solar Panel. Ring solar products require direct sunlight to stay charged and provide power to the device. If the weather is cloudy or it rains or snows, this would limit the direct sunlight your device receives, which would lessen the charge. Colder temperatures may also cause your device's lithium-ion battery to drain excessively. With prolonged cloudy or winter weather, you may need to manually recharge the battery more frequently. When sunny weather returns and the solar panel receives enough direct sunlight again, it will keep the device powered.

The battery level of the device will vary based on the amount of direct sunlight the solar panel receives. Even with exposure to maximum sunlight, the battery level will not exceed a threshold of around 80%—this is to extend the lifetime of the battery.

    It barely works

We set it up and our battery died just as fast. We do live on a busy road and it picks up all college kids walking to school so it dies fast anyways. Might be worth it if you live somewhere where your camera isn’t activated often.

      Hello Sylv.

Thank you for taking a moment to leave your review on the Ring
Solar Panel. We know how important it is to have peace of mind when it
comes to your home security and having an unresponsive device can be concerning.
Please know that we are here to assist and are confident that we can find you a
      resolution in a timely manner.
After reading your review, it seems that your Ring Solar Panel
is not fully charging your Ring Spotlight Camera Battery. Ring recommends at least three to four hours of direct sunlight, depending on your usage. Make sure there are no obstructions that could be casting a shadow on your solar power device such as an extended roof, trees branches, or bushes. If your installation area is frequently very cloudy or gets a lot of rain or snow, this could limit the amount of sunlight that your solar power device receives.
The solar panel requires direct sunlight. Filtered/indirect sunlight through the clouds will not provide a charge to your doorbell/camera. Here is a helpful article that explains this in more detail: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360061517732-Solar-Charger-and-Solar-Panel-for-Ring-Doorbells-troubleshooting.

They worked great for about 6 months then nothing but trouble. My garage camera (that I need the most) has been offline for over a month. Solar panel will not charge. I don’t want to get on a ladder to get the battery to charge which is why I bought these to begin with! Now I have a useless camera until it decides to work again. Did the same thing last year too

Hi Santa. Getting the most out of your Stick Up Cam or Spotlight Cam is key for your peace of mind and I'd be happy to clarify. Without a Ring Protect Plan, you will still receive notifications via the Ring app and you'll be able to access the Live View and speak with visitors at your home.
