Sent back immediately. Single zone. Sounds bad. Too expensive even at $1599. Would not buy again. The sonos interface is a joke. $700 bucks for the amp? There are way better options for outdoors.

Sonance Mag 6.1 series first thing I want to mention is it does not come with speaker wire, so make sure you buy a thick gage to hold up to the elements depending one how much you want to spend, I was very thrown off by that being that cost is expensive it should have included it. Now that that’s off my chest it wasn’t hard to install but the work to prepare for installation I guess you don’t have to do it but it looks a lot nicer once you decide on placement of all the equipment then comes the physical labor digging trenches to hide the wire & dig a hole for speakers, subwoofer. Once all that is done it was pretty nice. I didn’t know how to feel about the color brown but it’s actually very nice everything was nicely packed all in one big heavy box needed 2 people to carry it but was separated in 2 inside & the instructions were super clear easy to follow, I set up using my Apple Music, iTunes sounded really good we decided to purchase a 2nd system being that you cannot purchase additional speakers for it we’d like more sound coverage in the back yard.

This speaker system produces an excellent sound and can really fill a yard with sound. However, the install is not to be gone into with any sort of reckless abandon. It will require preparation and a bit of knowhow. The first thing I want to speak to is that the system does not come with speaker cable. So you're going to need to find some really good cable that can safely be buried and withstand the elements. I would also be prepared to keep some sort of mapping as to where you put said cabling so if you have to dig in the future, you know where they are. The box is huge and packaged pretty well. Nothing was damaged in shipping and everything looks great coming out of the box. The sonos amp is quite nice, but not weatherproof. So you'll need some sort of plan for installing this outdoors. Either you run the wiring outside from inside, or you put the amp outside and have some sort of protective location to store it. The speakers themselves are not tiny, but not large. They produce a great sound and hide really well amongst the landscaping. Again though, take care not to plant anything with a large root system near the cabling. The sub is powered and will require not only burying the sub, but it's power cords as well. The box comes with weatherproof wire nuts for making solid connections to whatever speaker cable you choose to go with. In all, it's a great sounding system, that requires quite a bit of planning and technical skill to install correctly. It should not be undertaken by someone who has no technical skills. If you want it done right, hire someone to be on the safe side. Personally, if I had a mulligan I might have gone with a smaller setup as 6 speakers was a bit of overkill. Especially since the system recommends you install them 8-10ft apart. I would recommend this for a family with a large yard and for those who like to spend a great deal of time outdoors.

Love it. Our neighbors installed a pool and with small children their pool has rapidly become the "Kool Aid" yard in the neighborhood. Our children are grown and our pool is more of a "Grown Up" vibe. This system installed around our pool, in less than 4 hrs, drowns (no pun intended) the noise from their lot. And being focused towards our pool doesn't impede on their enjoyment. The inclusion of the sonos amp (the good one) makes this system a true bargin.

Love this system and to be able to connect to the Sonos ecosystem is wonderful. Set up of this product took just about 3 hours which included digging a trench for the wiring, placing all the speakers, digging the hole for the sub and then wiring all the speakers. I used 14 gauge 4 conductor wire and buried this in conduit. Wiring the speakers was a simple daisy chain configuration for right and left channels which took no time at all (maybe 45minutes). I then connected the left and right channels to the Sonos amp and my S2 app recognized it immediately and within a minute, I was playing music through the speakers. The sound from this system is simply stunning albeit a bit too base heavy from the sub right off the bat. This is easily fixed by going into the system settings in the Sonos app and plating around with the EQ settings. I easily could reduce the base sound from the sub. A couple other minor tweaks and it was perfect (for me). While the price is quite high for this product, I believe it to be fair given the sound quality as well as getting a quality amp to power the system. All in all - I would recommend to anyone who wants a discreet outdoor sound system.

Great system. Loud as one could want. Turn it up and I can feel the bass and hear it clear in the front yard all the way from the backyard. Set up was easy and app works great.

The Sonance MAG 6.1 system is a comprehensive kit for your backyard/patio. Packing the Sonos Amp (MSRP $649), plus 6 satellite speakers and a dual voice coil 8” subwoofer this system turns any backyard to a party if you’re willing to put in the work to install it. First of all, inside the box you have everything you need except speaker wire. Sonance recommends 14/4, which is hard to come by at your local store. However I did a 90ft run and used 18/4 sprinkler system wire which was both cheap and readily available. While I cheaped out on wire, under 100ft it should still operate fine. I installed the amp inside my garage and used a defunct invisible fence wire to pull the speaker wire through to my garage from the outside. Given the standard Sonos Amp, I was able to acquire a wall mount for around $25 from an online retailer and mount the amp on the wall. I ran the direct bury sprinkler wire down and started splicing it at each speaker. Using 18/4 solid core wire, I was unable to follow the specific directions which recommend only cutting and splicing the wires you need. I found cutting the jacket on my lower grade wire was not possible without damaging the other wire, however I bought some weatherproof twist connectors to supplement the generous connectors provided by Sonance and just splice each pair at each speaker. This is less than ideal, but for my quick install (I do plan to go back with higher end cable later) it works. If I were to do this again, I’d probably just run two separate left and right channel 16/2 wires. The only other piece of recommended equipment not included were outdoor zip ties, which luckily were only a couple bucks at my local hardware store. Something to keep in mind when you install these is that stereo sound is kind of unnecessary in this. If I had realized that the sonos amp supported dual mono, I might have wired my system to create 2 zones with adjustable volume via the balance slider. Keep that in mind if your installation covers two distinct outdoor areas like mine (yard area and patio/deck) as it could be a helpful hack. Installation for the satellites is pretty straight forward. You splice them in and then dig a small hole and position the stake. They blend nicely in my flower beds and almost look like garden lights. The subwoofer requires burial, which isn’t hard, but does require some digging. Once buried, the subwoofer looks like a giant mushroom. While still being unobtrusive, it was definitely the hardest item to blend in. Each speaker has a solid metal housing painted a brown that just blends in perfectly. The stakes on each speaker are replaceable if they break. Build quality is excellent. For optimal sound coverage follow the installation guide and check out their YouTube channel. I found the YouTube channel to be quite helpful on illustrating how to install the speakers, splice the wire, and other helpful tips for installation Once I had the speakers wired, and did adjustments, I followed the Sonos amp installation and app. The installation is quite simple, you hook up both left and right channel outputs. Inputs on the Sonos amp are sparse, giving you HDMI Arc and Line in. But the power of Sonos isn’t it’s inputs, but rather it’s app/service integrations. My primary use case is streaming Spotify via AirPlay 2, which worked beautifully. You can also use the app with many different services, decoupling your phone from the music - which might make a lot of sense at parties/etc. I do wish they had an Apple Watch app for control when using the Sonos app for playback, but Spotify at least allows me to use my watch to control playback. Now how does it sound? Even with my weak 18 gauge wires, the speakers delivered a wonderful balance and great projection. The installation guide shows you how to position them for optimal coverage, and it’s pretty accurate. I ended up pointing a few speakers to the larger area of my lawn and turning the others towards my patio/deck to avoid bothering the neighbors. Sonance tells you there is a steep drop off at a distance on the back side of the speaker, and that’s a good thing for your neighbors. I was able to position and direct sound towards my space closer to my property line. Overall the sound was excellent, with the subwoofer delivering smooth deep bass and each satellite offering clear projection. Sonance recommends positioning the speaker 8-10ft apart, so keep that in mind when designing your sound stage. When a speaker isn’t in direct line of sight, a drop off in treble happens, but the satellites still provide presence even in these circumstances (around a deck area). If you’re willing to put in the work for installation (or pay someone to do it for you), the Sonance MAG 6.1 is a stellar speaker system. While pricey, the excellent build quality, sound, and high end Sonos amp really bring the value. This is a system that covers a large area with excellent sound and should do so for years. If you want to enjoy better outdoor living, the MAG 6.1 will deliver the tunes.

We were very excited to add this system around the perimeter of our pool deck. Installation of the speaker units was simple enough, but manually splicing and connecting the speaker wires was not easy for the layperson. It is far too easy to have a single poor connection that negatively impacts the rest of the daisy-chained system. NOTE: Speaker wire is NOT included with the Sonance system. When purchasing your speaker wire, be sure to order a wire that will not corrode when buried! Sonance now offers a separate wiring harness that simplifies the wiring process, but even the harness setup - which still requires some manual splicing - allows for a significant amount of potential user error due to poor connections. Both without and with the harness, our Sonance system still has flaky sound quality because of poor connections. We’ve worked on fixing the connections repeatedly with imperfect results, so we will have to hire a specialist to check and fix each connection point. I’ve rated the sustem 3 stars because it sounds amazing when the connections are working, but for the high price of the system it should utilize a user-frindly plug-connect setup that reduces the very real chance of user error in wire splicing and connection.

I purchased this speaker system for a small 18’x18’ patio and couldn’t be happier ($1350 on sale). All six satellites are aimed toward the center of the space and located near plants to blend the appearance. The subwoofer is located off to one side under a firewood rack approximately two feet from our house for optimal bass. I highly recommend placing the sub near a wall or structure for this reason otherwise bass output may not be as desired. Additionally, though I did not use much wire, a 12/4 direct burial wire was chosen. We were very impressed with the audio from this setup and based on our relatively small space it was easy to achieve balanced sound. The only thing I would change about this product is to make the satellite speakers height positioning adjustable with a set screw (up/down) as found on the 8.1 and similar systems. This would be helpful when the speakers are placed near a listening area where grade changes exist. You must also place them with the direction of sound in mind since they won’t rotate once staked in. I should mention, these two mentioned items posed no issues for my setup. Lastly, I would recommend using direct bury grease tubes with zip ties for all wire connections instead of the included waterproof wire nuts. They will provide the best waterproofing at your connections.

I love this more than I thought I was gonna love it. Main use case is music played at soft volumes - I am using two of these to cover a very large backyard in two zones. Install is pretty straight forward. The only thing I wish were different was the Sonos volume control- this thing at 50% volume is pretty quiet whereas every other speaker at 50% is comparatively loud. Not a big deal- just adapt your ratio. Perhaps done to give you more fine volume control at lower volumes.

Summer is coming up in a few. months and I for one am looking forward to spending some quality time in my backyard enjoying some time in the pool. The addition of this Sonance streaming speaker system from Sonos is adding to that anticipation. I just finished setting this up over the weekend and after the first test I'm blown away by the impressive sound quality these speakers put out. I have them set up in a circle around my above ground pool and the range is impressive. Not just distance but range in sound. Highs are high, mids are solid and in no way muddled, and bass is pleasantly solid yet not overpowering. I'm fairly certain my neighbors are not going to like me me this summer and I don't care. Setup is as straightforward as one would expect from a set of speakers from Sonos. Install the app to your phone, connect the speakers to your wifi, and fire up the tunes. One thing I'm looking forward to this summer is movie night in backyard. I did a quick test of using m iPad to stream sound to the speakers with a movie and it worked great. I can just see myself with family and friends riding some pool floats in the evening with a movie showing via a projector with surround sound. In my pool. We live in great times my friends! The box the speakers come in is rather heavy but other than that physical set up of the speakers couldn't be easer. Pick your placement, shove the satellite speakers into the ground, find a good place for the woofer, and you're off to the races. And did I mention the sound quality? Overall and impressive job by Sonos!!!
