Customers admire the MAG6.1's exceptional sound quality, encompassing both the immersive sound and powerful bass. The system's ease of use and relatively straightforward installation are also frequently praised. While some mention the large packaging size and the need to purchase speaker wire separately, the overall positive feedback highlights the product's value. Many appreciate the reasonable price point for the quality of sound delivered.

The MAG6.1 system boasts a durable construction, designed to withstand the elements. Its discreet, landscape-oriented design blends seamlessly into gardens and patios. The speakers come with a robust weather-resistant finish, ensuring longevity and minimal maintenance.
The audio performance is where the MAG6.1 truly shines. With a 6.5-inch woofer and a 1-inch tweeter in each speaker, the system delivers a well-balanced sound with deep bass and crisp highs. The 6.1-channel setup allows for immersive surround sound, making it perfect for outdoor gatherings or simply enjoying music while relaxing outside.

Outstanding Sound Quality-Sonos Amp and Sonanance

Sonos Amp and Sonance Mag Series is much better than I anticipated. I purchased the package during Black Friday sales in 2023 for a newly remodeled home to provide music beyond my pool area. The quality of the sound from each speaker and subwoofer is outstanding. Installation and setup is very easy. I used direct burial 14 AWG 4-wire for furthest distance of 175ft connect to Sonos Amp. I have a second Sonos Amp powering four Sonance Ceiling speakers for a 75ft x 15ft covered patio. This setup allows me to place music in the background (Pool Area) while carrying a conversation on the patio. If you want to rock out in both areas, Sonos keeps the audio perfectly in sync.
In a previous property I used Rockustic Speakers which were good ($800 per speaker) but the Sonance Mag Series surpasses that setup. The black friday deal of $1300 is an unbeatable price for what you get.

Wasn’t sure when I ordered, but NOT DISAPPOINTED AT ALL! The sound is amazing. Bass is crazy good. Installed around in ground pool area and spaced speakers 10’ apart with sub in middle. Super easy to install and connect to music immediately with the Sonos App. Also ran hdmi cable from arc output to outdoor tv and can listen to sports and movies outside too. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Purchased on Sale for $1299 on a one day sale….this system is worth the normal price of 2k+ and a super deal under 1,500!

System sounds great when it actually works. Dont bother calling Sonance for tech support - they will tell you this is not their system and to call sonos even though the box is labeled Sonance. Second, Sonos app sucks. Three different phones all with Sonos app, but some connect to the system and some do. Forget about it if you have a mesh wifi network - have had nothing but problems. Tried to call tech support but gave up after waiting for 50 minutes. Really sucks after the amount of work required to install this system and bury wires etc.

Excellent Outdoor Sound Quality

I've been an audio equipment junkie for decades, and was looking for something that was going to sound stellar in the back yard. This is it. The regular price is steep, but on sale, this setup is a bargain.
The Sonos amp really pairs well with the satellites and sub. I was a little worried that the satellites are full-range instead of having a dedicated woofer/tweeter, but they sound very clear. The sub is powerful, but not boomy. It's tight and accurate, with a thump you can feel if you place it correctly. There's is no noticeable gap between where the sub leaves off and the satellites take over, and the sound is well-balanced from lows through mids and highs.
The sourced used it key to getting very good sound out of this system. If you're trying to play the 192k mp3's you ripped to your phone 20 years ago via Airplay, anything dynamic or guitar-driven is going to sound like a muddy mess, with distorted mids and tinny highs - downright awful. But if you use a lossless or high-bitrate source directly from the Sonos amp, the difference in sound quality is like night and day, with nice separation and clarity. Rock, electronica, vocals, lounge, etc., sound fantastic.
A couple of pieces of advice - it is much more important to get the sub close to a brick wall, a big tree or the house than to have it exactly centered in the middle of satellites. The bass tightness and oomph falls off pretty quickly if you move it away from something solid, but bass tends to be omni-directional in travel so you likely won't hear the difference if it's somewhat off to one side.
Yes, you can place the speakers more than 10 feet apart. I tested at 12 feet and am leaving them there. As long as you have some space between you and the satellites and it's not a tiny backyard, the sound will fill in well without much in the way of dead spots.

Unobtrusive Outdoor Speaker System Good Sound Q

The Sonos Sonance MAG6.1 is an outdoor speaker set designed to be placed unobtrusively through your hard. It comes with 6 speakers, an amplifier, and a subwoofer. Not included is a 100 feet or so of 14/1 speaker wire which you will need to complete the job of wiring everything. If you're doing it yourself, and will be trenching wire to hide it, expect 3-4 hours of installation time, maybe more depending on how hard your ground is and any final adjustments you make to your plan to lay out the speakers and sub. While there are 6 speakers, this is actually just a stereo system. Three speakers (and the sub) are wired for L and the other three speakers (and sub) are wired for R. There are instructions that provide guidance for placement to get best L/R and speaker area coverage with the sub to be placed (and wired) ideally in the midpoint of all the speakers. The speakers are on stakes for easy insertion into typical backyard/garden soil/grass. The sub is designed to be buried, but in my installation, I had a natural curve in a tree in my yard that made it a good place to semi "hide" the sub. The whole point is for the entire system to be essentially hidden, unobtrusive in your yard with sound seemingly coming out of nowhere. While my yard wasn't 100% conducive to meeting this goal, they are still pretty unobtrusive once installed (I think having installed them myself, they were more likely to catch my eye) and with the normal growth that comes with spring, even I would start having a hard time spotting anything but the sub.
The speakers and sub are a brown color, perhaps to blend in with the ground or soil and by not being shiny, won't draw attention due to sunlight reflecting off of it. That also fits well with positioning near a tree, it actually doesn't look too out of place. The material seems durable, on par with premium exterior furniture, so I'm not worried out the finish wearing quickly due to UV exposure and rain. There was some concern with water and rust on the electrical connections, but each speaker comes with some water resistent wire nuts. The amp/controller itself is just a matte black affair, the usual color of home electronic devices. If anything, that may be the one that catches the most attention as one doens't typically have something like that in the back yard. However, it can be hidden depending on what you end up using to supply audio. It has HDMI, actual speaker inputs, and wireless streaming. The wireless streaming made the most sense for me as my backyard wasn't already wired with audio. The HDMI option isn't that great - there's no passthru so really, it means you'd be running this off an audio recevier that has HDMI out. Luckily, my projector (which I use for random movie nights during the summer) has stereo audio out, so I can make do with that. As there are only three touch sensitive buttons on the amp, you'd need to Sonos app to actually configure the amp and act as the connection to whatever streaming service you want to use (there's also an ethernet input if you want to route yet another set of wires though you'd still need to configure things with the app). Luckily, it seems to support all the major players, pun intended.
The sound quality was good. Surprising even for a system of this size that was dispersed through the backyard. There is clealy some position dependent behavior, but that's to be expected from a stereo system like this. But being within the large "sweet spot" of L/R coverage, the sound was pretty good considering it was just stereo and over a wide area. I was very pleased. The sub provided a detectible bass, especially if you were leaning against the tree. The instructions suggest putting it against something solid or structural to help enhance the bass effect if you want more. I now wonder what it would be like actually partially buried in the ground! While you could play/pause advance music from the amp, as it was out of the way, the simpler thing is to use the mobile app or another device. I already use a mini device from a certain rainforest named company which previously was paired to a set of bluetooth speakers that I'd put outside for parties. This gives me both app control and a physical device that is located in a more accessible setting. Volume wise, this will get loud enough to cause enforcement level disturbance calls. I didn't even push it to the max during the period that I was playing with the Sonance for this review. Perhaps a summer party will give me the excuse to do so.
In summary, I think is a a great speaker system. You are limited to stereo and a lot of sources will need to be gated by the Sonos app, but you get great sound with decent coverage in a large yard. Everything is easy to setup, though the initial speaker placement and wiring running in particular is labor and time intensive. It does a good job of hiding away in the background, though your ability to do that will depend on your yard configuration. Given the directionality of the speakers, that can be tough in some areas. What would make this system perfect from that standpoint are omni-directional speakers that you could essentially bury in the ground - pretty much having a similar setup to the sub, though perhaps without a dome. Another plus is that it appears that you can expand the number of speakers on each side. This could be nice to cover a larger yard or perhaps completely surround a centrally located patio or backyard area.

What an upgrade from my two outdoor speakers powered by a traditional tuner! This outdoor speaker set creates such clear sound and incredible bass at every volume that it's hard to accurately describe. Easy install for a DIY person, just take your time and make sure you do it right. Digging the trench for the wire placement was the most time consuming part of the install but so worth it in the end. I installed in early fall and so far so good through a pretty cold winter.

I love this system.
First, the sound quality: it’s great but not remarkable, maybe a 8.5/10. For outdoor speakers around the pool/garden/terrace that’s more than you need. If you do the install right you’ll get an even amount of sound in your space, and very little sound outside the space (your neighbors will thank you!). The bass is surprisingly strong with the included subwoofer.
The best part for me is these seamlessly integrate with Sonos. Having a connected outdoor speaker system like this was extremely expensive 10 years ago, and this is better in every way. If you’re already bought into Sonos it’s even better; I can walk from my bedroom to my kitchen to my pool with music playing the whole time.
Installation was easy for an outdoor speaker system but much harder than people used to Sonos may expect. It took me about 6 hours with an installation video playing on repeat. Also you’ll need some equipment, budget 50-200 dollars for everything depending on what you already have. It may be worth paying someone to do the install for you if you’re not handy with burying and connecting wire.
At retail these are good value, but on sale they are suspiciously cheap for what they are.

For the discounted price I paid, this system delivers what I was looking for. The sound is full and the system covers the square footage it is supposed to. I would not recommend pushing the limits of this as you may not be happy with the sound quality.
I am giving it 4 stars based on my dissatisfaction so far with the Sonos Amp. While it’s a decent amplifier and provides all the power you need for this system, there is no support or feature for loudness normalization while streaming my Amazon Music. I don’t know if this is a Sonos problem or an Amazon problem but either way it’s very frustrating.
I keep the volume in the 50s or 60s (You don’t have to go to high to get the system loud). It seems like every song that streams is at a different volume and I am constantly opening the Sonos app to manually adjust. One song may sound fine at volume 60 but the next song would be twice as loud. The Amazon music app has a feature that normalizes volume across all songs played but it does not carry over through Sonos which results in a lot of extra work for me in running to my phone to adjust the volume.
Overall, I am happy with the speakers but may end up trying to sell the Sonos amp and power the speakers with a different amp that may normalize the volume better.

So I am a person who likes to hear a speaker in person, so I can be the judge of how well it sounds with various music types, volume levels, and distances. With that said I found a pool group on FB where they were talking about the best kind of outdoor speakers for a pool and these kept getting brought up over and over. So I went to BB online and to my surprise, they were about half off. I went ahead and pulled the trigger and purchased them. I will say when the box arrived, I laughed at one of the comments made in the review of this product that the package was not environmentally friendly(this box is huge but well-packed). It took me about 3 hours to install around the pool area. The directions were easy to understand and the setup even came with the silicon-filled wire nuts (you will need to buy the direct burial grade outdoor wire). I did have to buy an enclosure for the amplifier to fit in since it is outdoors and I currently do not have a shelter for it to stay dry. When it came to firing up the system and playing music I was VERY impressed. These speakers a crystal clear and loud. with the volume halfway I can hear the music in the front yard. No matter where I am on the pool deck I can hear the music like I have headphones on. I will say even the bass speaker does a great job for being outdoors and balancing the deep tones with the mids/highs the 6 speakers are pushing out. All in all I would recommend this hands down.

I love this system. For some perspective I already had two pair of good quality speakers against my house playing toward the attached covered patio. I quite enjoyed them and bought the sonance system simply for extra ambience, as they are not connected to the same system as the patio speakers. Imagine my surprise when I discovered these speakers have a significantly better sound. The quality of sound is marvelous and the bass is great. Coming from the garden toward my patio gives you the perfect volume to still allow you the ability to hold a conversation without being drowned out by music. Simply put, I haven’t played my Patio speakers since purchasing these two months ago. I will mention one flaw, easily correctable. I found the bass to be lacking and did some research which was consistent with what I got from sonance Customer Service. Some of the subwoofers are miswired and out of phase, meaning that you have to reverse one pair of the wires right to left rather than left to left and right to right. Very simple fix, just reverse one pair at the sub only. The change in bass quality is demonstrable after the switch. I suggest you test the subwoofer before you bury the wire just to make sure yours is wired properly or if you have to switch like I did. Otherwise, I could not be happier with this system. My yard is about 80’ wide by 25’ deep where the speakers are set and it plays more than loud enough for me and I like loud music. However if you yard is significantly larger than mine, these may not be loud enough for you.

I've been a big fan of the Sonance speakers system for many years. There are a few versions of the satellite speakers. This kit utilizes the Patio series, which is their entry level satellite. But it still sounds great! When the subwoofer is added in, and placed well, it fills out the richness of the sound. It's easy to forget you're outside. Putting the sub near a wall or fence helps the fullness of the bass sound. I install these for customers, and have always gotten positive feedback. The Sonos Amp controlling the system is a huge plus. It allows you to have Sonos speakers in the house all tied to the same source. When entertaining, you can have the same music playing inside and outside without a complicated wiring setup. I usually set the speakers about 12-15 feet apart. Any more than that, and you start to lose the quality of sound. For wiring, we usually use 14 gauge landscape lighting wire instead of direct bury speaker wire. The lighting wire is 14/2, so you'll need 2 runs of it to get the left and right set-up. We use brown colored wire for the left chanel, and black for the right chanel. It makes it real simple to keep track of which side is which during the install. The regular price for the kit is reasonable, but when on sale, it's a great deal.

Amazing sound system, worth every penny when purchased at the sale price. Sonos Amp by itself is 700. I opted to install the system on my own using direct bury 14AWG 4 cable speaker wire. Was my first outdoor speaker install so I took my time and followed the directions closely. A good circular wire stripping tool is a must! Laid out the speaker cable in advance, took my time stripping the wire and making the connections but everything worked on the first attempt! Sound is all encompassing and sub sounds great even though it is not powered independently. Wife thinks that it is a little overkill, to which I asked her is there such a thing?? Would highly recommend this subsystem, and if you are the slightest bit handy then just go ahead and install it yourself.

Super easy to set up and the sound is super clear. The integration of the Sonos amp is great and it powers the set up with ease. When installed the bass doesn't extend as far as a previous in ground sub I used, but it seems clearer and I think I prefer the clarity over the very small loss in bass at farther distances from the sub. Honestly, would buy again if needed and recommend to others! Purchased on sale; the price was amazing! Delivery was scheduled and they arrived within the window offered and were quick to hand off the box; great experience!

I've been impressed with the quality of these speakers. I've got them set up in a straight line along a portion of my back wall and spaced about 15 feet apart alternating left and right channels. I've got the subwoofer in the middle of the line. The sound is covering a rectangular area of approximately 7,500 square feet. Half of the area they cover is the pool area and the other half is a grassy play area. I can set the volume to 60 (out of 100) on the Sonos Amp and can comfortably hear the sound 50 feet away while not being too loud if you're 20 feet away. The subwoofer puts out a ton of bass. I've only had the speakers for a couple of months but so far they haven't disappointed. If you can get this speaker package when it's on sale ($1,500 or less), I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.
