Customers are saying

Customers value the Beam (Gen 2) 5.0 Channel Smart Soundbar with Dolby Atmos for its unmatched sound quality, ease of use, and simple setup. The soundbar's compact size, impressive bass, and Dolby Atmos capabilities are also appreciated. However, some customers have reported occasional connectivity issues, and a few find the soundbar to be somewhat expensive and would prefer it to include a physical remote.

Excellent choice for our bedroom TV. Even makes watching the morning news from bed more enjoyable. It’s also part of our whole home sound system with the Sonos app.

Ive had both the Arc and the beam and the beam is a much better fit in a small studio apartment. The arc is not twice as better so beam is best bang for your buck

Great little unit but wasn't loud enough for my use. Best suited for 50 inch tv's or smaller in medium or small rooms.

Initially loved it. Had a lot of issues with the app and then it eventually stopped working all together. Contacted Sonos and they agreed to exchange for a new one. I assumed that meant they would send me a new one and I would send the old one back in the box they sent. After waiting 20 days for a new product, I called and was told that I need to send the old one back first and when it arrives to their factory, they would send a new one. No other company on the planet does business this way. Probably won't ever buy anything from Best Buy again at this point. Much easier to purchase online through a retailer that cares.

Relatively easy to set up and the sound quality is great. The quality of the speaker is also nicer than some of the sound bars I have used in the past.

Plugged it in, no remote with tge sound bar, you have to download the app and follow the instructions, one you have everything setup with the app and you do the sound test, in the tv settings you have to change the audio format to pass through instead of auto, also if you have a apple tv change the audio format to 5.1, I did all this and the audio was great until a few days passed and i noticed that at first we could listen to the audio perfectly around 16 to 20 now the volume we have to put it aroung 34 to 40, the audio slowly went down in a weird way, I did a factory reset and i also left the audio format on the apple tv to auto or dolby atmos, the audio was great again and then the next day it happend again, the audio went down again, i changed the hdmi cable and it still doing the same thing, so i decided to return the item.

It sounds like you encountered a frustrating issue with your Sonos Beam Gen 2. Here's a summary of the situation and some steps to troubleshoot or resolve similar issues:

      Issue Summary
Initial Setup: Required using the Sonos app and adjusting TV and Apple TV audio settings.
Audio Issue: The sound quality degraded over time, requiring higher volume settings and eventually prompting a return.
      Troubleshooting Steps
      Verify Audio Settings:

TV Settings: Ensure your TV’s audio settings are configured correctly, typically set to "Pass-Through" or "Bitstream" for the best sound quality.
Apple TV Settings: Set the audio format to “5.1” or “Dolby Digital” rather than “Auto” to ensure compatibility with the Beam.
      Check HDMI Connections:

HDMI ARC: Ensure the Beam is connected to the HDMI ARC port on your TV. Use a high-speed HDMI cable.
Cable Quality: Test with a different HDMI cable if you suspect the original might be faulty.
      Adjust Volume Settings:

Sonos App: Check if there are any settings within the Sonos app related to volume or audio settings.
TV Volume: Make sure the TV's internal speakers are turned off to avoid conflicts.
      Software Updates:

Sonos App: Ensure the Sonos app and the Beam’s firmware are updated to the latest version.
Apple TV: Check for updates on the Apple TV and install any available.
      Factory Reset:

Reconfigure: After a factory reset, reconfigure the Beam and test the audio settings again. Ensure all connections and settings are re-applied correctly.
      Consult Sonos Support:

Customer Service: If the issue persists, reach out to Sonos customer support at support.sonos.com for further assistance. They can provide additional troubleshooting steps or help with potential hardware issues.
      Conclusion
Your experience with Sonos Beam Gen 2 highlights potential issues that can arise with setup and performance, and the steps above should help in addressing or mitigating similar problems. john.milton

After reading all of the other reviews I really wanted to fall in love with this soundbar, but that just didn't happen. The setup for the Beam 2 was simple enough. The min-sub was a different story. After going thru all of the steps several times it just would not connect to the Beam 2. The Beam 2 by itself sounded like a $100 soundbar. I was not impressed at all. After about 15 minutes of listening to the Beam 2 I unhooked it, put it back in the box and returned it. I just could not justify cost of the unit considering the way it sounded.

The sound quality is nice. However, the bar should be longer (wider) to allow more separation of channels. The "app" to manage the soundbar is ridiculous. It should have a remote like almost all the other soundbars in this price range.
