Did not work with our Samsung tv. Returned item because Samsung tv is an old design that they keep selling and is not compatible with Sound bars.

Sonos Beam full volume machine gun sounds

The Sonos Beam had a defect that made it suddenly go full volume machine gun sound! It freaked us out. So loud it was unbearable. The awful sound happened on day one while watching a movie. We turned off power and resumed watching the movie only to have the horrible sounds happen again. We boxed up the Sonos and returned it to the store. We did not get another Sonos. We read that the issue is a known issue to Sonos so we didn’t want to try another one.

At first the Beam 2 was great. After a few weeks of use, we started to experience problems. Randomly the speaker will emit a loud, repeating sound like a jackhammer or machine gun at loud volume and the only way to stop it is by unplugging it. It's happened 5-6 times now, woken up our baby multiple time and scared the life out of our dog. Have been trying to get in touch with Sonos customer service as we're outside the BB return window but within Sonos warranty. This appears to be a known issue across multiple Beam 2 owners that Sonos does not have a solution for. Avoid buying until this is resolved.

    Sonos Sucks

Product is terrible. Doesn't maintain sound during commercial breaks and doesn't come with a remote. Cheap way for a company to save money while charging a lot for the soundbar. Returning for something better.

Thank you for writing a review! The reason we don't include a remote is because you can use the remote you're already using. (who wants an extra remote to lose right?) - Beam can learn any IR remote. If you go to the room settings, select the Beam, and scroll down to "remote control set up" in our app. Volume up, down, and mute three times and you've just taught Beam a new remote! As far as audio is concerned we would recommend making sure that your tv is sending the correct audio codec to Beam. If not you can change this under the tv's audio settings. We hope you'll give this a try before returning it. :) john.milton

No dialogue out of surround configured speakers

You should know: When you add expensive Sonos surround speakers to your sound bar, you won't get a drop of TV dialogue out of them. Therefore, they will sit on your shelf as nothing but expensive paperweights, if/when you're watching TV news, for example. If you want dialogue, you have to remove the surround effects, a slow process. There is no toggle. Sonos could engineer the option of letting us get dialogue though surround configured speakers. But whether out of stupidity, or to lure us into buying yet more speakers, they have not done so.

      Posted .

We are deeply sorry for the difficulties you've encountered with your Sonos Beam Gen 2 and the setup process. We understand how frustrating it can be when things don't work as expected, especially when the instructions are unclear or lacking.

We’d like to offer a few steps that may help resolve the issues you’ve faced:

Reinstall the Sonos App: Sometimes, reinstalling the app can resolve connectivity or functionality issues. You can find the Sonos app in the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android).

Wi-Fi & Network Check: Ensure that your device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Sonos Beam, as this is essential for proper setup and operation.

Software Update: Make sure both your Sonos Beam and the app are running the latest software versions. To check for updates, go to the settings in the Sonos app.

Resetting the Beam: If the app continues to malfunction, a factory reset may help restore functionality. To reset the Beam Gen 2, hold down the Play/Pause button on the device for around 15 seconds until the LED starts flashing amber and white. After that, you can set it up again via the app.

We greatly appreciate your patience, and we are committed to resolving your experience. If the issue persists, our customer support team at support.sonos.com would be happy to assist further. Thank you for your feedback. john.milton

Would automatically switch back to TV speaker

Returned it after 4 hours, plus 1-1/2 hour on phone with Sonos, trying to configure it. Would keep automatically switching back to TV speaker. If only had cable TV input connected to HDMI worked fine. Once connected FireTV stick or DVD player to the other HDMI's sound bar would switch back to TV speaker. Yes, speaker was connected to the eARC HDMI. Sonos tech support was useless.

This product has a glitch thats been not fixed in over a year, if left playing long enough, out of nowhere, regardless of the volume level you are listening to it will start sounding a loud hammering noise, beware, it happened to us in our bedroom at 330 in in the morning after being left to play rain noises, when contacting support, rhe blame our network, but this is a software issue, and users should be aware of this, specially if you have little kids or animals, only way to make it stop is to unplug the speaker
