Recently bought a 49” Samsung Q6 TV and realized FAST the sound needed help. After much comparison shopping, I decided on the SONOS BEAM. Fantastic improvement over TV sound. After setup, experienced frequent sound stuttering issues until I contacted SONOS via the APP, and they responded with solution of switching one setting. It worked and NO sound issues at all now. I am very happy with sound quality, ease of setup, look and design of product AND especially customer service provided. Thank you SONOS for such an outstanding and affordable sound bar and exceptional customer support!!!!

    Another SONOS Home-Run!

I am a big fan of Sonos products. I have 2 full 5.1 setups in the house with a few single speakers throughout as well. Overall 12 speakers in total. I was excited to try this out for my master bedroom TV. It's a perfect size for a large bedroom. So far very impressed! It creates an amazing sound stage for it's size and the bass is more than adequate for a bedroom experience. I also have an Apple HomePod in the same bedroom and I can honestly say it is a MUCH better audio experience. As a Sonos user setup was very quick and easy to add to my existing system. I do not use Alexa so I won't comment on that feature, however Airplay 2 works wonderfully - zero setup needed, it just works! Both my Samsung QLED remote and Apple TV 4K remotes synced up themselves thanks to the new HDMI ARC. Even if this is your first Sonos speaker, I am sure you will be pleased with it! Awesome work Sonos!

    Amazing sound bar

There is a reason for all of the high reviews on the sonos beam sound bar. I bought the beam and hooked it up and was amazed at the sound for such a small sound bar. I then purchased two sonos one's for surround sound and the sound blew me away. Set the beam up and the sonos one's and adjust the sound with true play and you will be amazed. Will never buy anything but sonos for home theatre and music again!!!!

Google Assistant built in works only half way

Great sound. Easy to set up. I bought the Sonos Beam because it had Google Assistant built in, so that I could use it as a Google Home group speaker in addition to a TV sound bar to eliminate the rear facing TV speakers. It will take Google commands. HOWEVER, it will not group it to the Google Home speaker groups I already have. (In my research this is not unique to Sonos speakers) It is a very expensive unit for something that only works half way. I will be returning it for a less expensive Bluetooth connected unit.

I have a 20 x 30 living room and was worried that this would be too small, but I got tired of waiting for Sonos to update the outdated Playbar. I am so glad I purchased it. It has a great sound. If Sonos ever updates the Playbar, I probably will move the beam to the bedroom. But for now, it is far superior to the full size Denon I had. I am very happy with this purchase.

If you're looking for a discrete audio enhancer, this is the best choice by far! It hits very good ranges of audio (including low) considering it doesn't have an external sub. The hook up was literally less than five minutes and all you gotta do is download the App and you literally get the most simplistic tutorial on how to set up and use the full potential of your new bar.

    Subwoofer is a must!!!

I'm not a paid sponser, didnt receive this for free, Im just a regular dude who spent his hard working money to try and upgrade his surround sound system.I had a Samsung 5.1 in a box system I bought back in 2010.I wanted a better system,Boy did I get one!!!!! I was talked into buying the beam by a Best Buy staff member, and who ever that nice man was ty.I ordered online and my items were shipped to me,unfortunately the Beam arrived before the subwoofer. Honestly my first impressions was disappointment. It wasn't loud enough, loved the clarity, but for a thousand dollars for this and subwoofer,I expected to shake some walls.I had no faith that the sub had any chance of changing my mind on returning this.LET ME TELL YOU THIS,THE SUB TRANSFORMS THIS THING INTO A BEAST!!! My living room is probably 15×15.This thing is not just loud but quaking!!! Please listen to me,if you can afford it get it. I'm not going to give a review on beam alone because this thing is totally different when combined with sub. If your in an apartment and want to get along with your neighbors, dont get the sub!! If your not getting the subwoofer,I would say dont get beam, stand alone I was ready to take back and not impressed,Trust me and thank me later!!!

What a great little sound bar. I mounted it under my Sony 900e in my bedroom. This bar provides some great sound. I can’t believe how much sound this little thing has. Great product. I would not put it in an area larger than a bedroom though. I have a playbar in my living room and a beam in my bedroom. Great setup

I have a brand new home with a Sonos system that controls various electronics in my home via my voice. So this soundboard was a must so when I play music is plays through all of my sonos speakers. It’s a small compact package but it packs a punch. Highly recommend.

    NOT For Wireless Use

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

As easy as Sonos makes it to use the app and the bar itself, its a hot mess, the extra jumps you have to make to try to get the Beam to play along are an absolute headache. The bar itself has phenomenal sound and this is the biggest reason I got it, followed up quickly by its customizability and how easy it is to expand. But the thing is, is that I was here specifically looking for a good wireless soundbar to go in a room other then my TV. For that I have an Atmos setup thats great and can't be replaced, but I also can't move part of it upstairs. So I bought the beam learning that it had no fallback for BlueTooth and had to rely on Wireless only to function and began getting trouble immediately. It frequently drops songs, pauses and freezes apps and skips music. Mind you I have a 400 MB connection. I took this to the Sonos Community and they said that I needed to setup DHCP IP Reservations on my router. Ok cool so I did that and naturally nothing was fixed. Since I can't rely on the number one feature I bought it for it will have to be replaced and its a real pity because the sound quality is top tier. One of the best in the store. Period. Its just too bad I won't get to hear it because it can't hold a wireless signal for longer then 8 minutes on a half gig connection. Very dissapointed.

Good sounding sound bar with issues

I normally don’t write reviews but figured I would to try to help people out who are considering this soundbar. 1st. Sound. I would give it a 4 out of 5. It is a great sounding sound bar even with no subwoofer. I’m sure the sun would help but compared to my Samsung soundbar with sub in my living room this one sounds so much better. The main downfall with this and with pretty much all Sonos products is the Alexa use. It’s horible. I started with a play one which my girlfriend set up under her account. Setup is ok but good luck trying to play music on it using Alexa. It constantly says your account is not linked. Went through tons of forums and help websites to no avail. Can open app on your phone and it will play fine but when asking Alexa forget it. Overall because of sound quality of products I kept them but just be aware that you may have a lot of headaches and issues with setting up Alexa.

    Love them both!!

So, I have been going back, and forth between Bose, and Sonos Beam. So, I decided to get both. I have been using them back, and forth in the same room. They are two completely different soundbars, but I love them both equally. It’s very easy to say, one’s good for music, and the other for movies. That’s not entirely true either. They are unique in their own way. Today I was watching Avatar on both, same scene back to back. They sound quite different, yet both sound good. Sonos gives you that robust, unrelenting bass, and Bose gives you a very wide soundstage, and a very cinematic feel. So, my verdict is, no matter what you choose, you can’t go wrong.

    Exceeded my expectations

I've been researching soundbars for months. I tried the Bose SoundTouch 300 and Solo 5 and the Playbar. I've been reading and watching videos and listening to floor models of JBL, Polk, Sony, LG, and everyone else that makes a soundbar and I have to say I am blown away by the Beam. The first thing to point out is the soundbar sounds much better at home than at Best Buy. There is more base, more spaciousness, and generally a better sound stage. The setup was seamless and I was able to program my TV remote in less than 10 seconds, no codes needed. I thought I would need to buy the Sonos Sub but I really don't think it will be necessary. I love bass in my music and movies as much as the next guy but for once I have a sound product where I don't touch the EQ and just enjoy it for what it is.

Good sound, everything else ... not great

I was pretty excited to try this device, but ultimately was left very disappointed. First off, I had never owned or used any previous Sonos product. We have a few Amazon Echos that see a significant amount of use for listening to music, setting timers, checking weather - basic stuff mostly. And we needed a soundbar for the living room TV. Reviews from around the web seemed very positive, so I thought this would be the product to replace the Echo in the family room and provide that soundbar for the TV. I knew that if I liked it I could add a Sonos subwoofer and 2 surround Play speakers at a later time. Had it for over three weeks, but ended up returning it. Main reason was the crappy Amazon Alexa performance. Compared to an actual Amazon device (the Echo it was replacing for instance), the response time from this guy was noticeably slower. To the point that it was just painful to try to interact with. Furthermore, the microphone response for Alexa activities was really pitiful. I would say it only caught the activation word about 25-30% of the time. Compare that to >90% for the Echo that was in the family room before this Sonos speaker arrived. Furthermore, it fits into the Alexa framework as smart home device instead of an Alexa speaker. What that meant was that it could not be added into a group with the other Alexa devices in the house (for getting mult-room audio for example). It also could not be used with Alexa's drop-in feature, and so on. I expected it to behave a lot more like a first party Alexa device, and was just completely let down on that front. It could turn on and off my TV using the voice commands, but that proved to be of very limited appeal. It didn't seem like it could do any other useful TV controls (and the TV is a 2017 LG OLED, so it's pretty new and unlikely to be the culprit). Related to the Alexa performance - you have to use the Sonos app and sign up with Sonos account to get this thing to work. But making it work with Alexa as a smart home speaker means going back and forth between the two apps. Go look up the directions on troubleshooting Alexa issues on the Sonos speakers - it's bananas. There is clearly some integration issues and complexities associated with both Amazon and Sonos pushing their own ecosystems and devices. I had thought that with the Sonos I would be in a neutral zone of supporting many services (like our Roku devices do for video), and that was partly true. I was able to get the Sonos to interact with my Plex server to play local music content. But frankly, no one else in the household was going to use this - they just wanted to say "Alexa... play some music." So when Alexa capabilties sucked, it ruined a lot of the appeal. The good? Sound quality was good. It might even have been great, but it was mainly used as a TV soundbar, and I'm not an audiophile. Suffice it to say, I wasn't blown away by the sound quality. It could get loud without distorting, that was nice. The dialog enhancement was very good to improve TV viewing. But ultimately the diminutive size made it behave in most ways as simply a center channel speaker in your traditional 5.1 speaker setup. You didn't really get any left/right separation. Bass was rather limited by the size as well. Maybe if you had a small apartment this could fill the space with impressive sound (like those old Bose wave radio commercials would claim), but it didn't work that well in the living room space I put it in (14' x 20' with 9' celings). Speaking of 5.1, this thing would only support decoding of dolby digital sound. For a device in this price range in this day and age, that was just pathetic. Design and looks were nice but I don't buy speakers for how they look, I buy them for how they perform and how much value they offer. This one is overpriced and underbaked. I'm pretty confused how people are reviewing this thing so highly. Maybe they had already gone all in on the Sonos ecosystem. But if you are coming to this device for the Alexa integration, just stay away.

    Issue with LG OLED tvs

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I am very pleased with the way this sound bar makes the audio/voices more clear but there is a MAJOR issue pairing it with OLED LG televisions. I just got the CX model and there is a significant issue syncing the audio with the video. The suggestions from both LG and SONOS would not work. I blame this mostly on LG after reading all of the customer forums. SONOS can only produce the audio as soon as it gets it from the tv. Just beware if you plan on pairing with an LG OLED. Otherwise, it sounds awesome.
