In the box is the speaker, power cord and user manual. You need to download the app to install the speaker. The speaker can be used by either Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. On the speaker controls include a finger slide for volume controls, next - previous track and Pause/Play. There is also a button to turn on/off voice services. On the back of the speaker are the Bluetooth and microphone controls. Within the Bookshelf speaker are 2 tweeters and 1 midrange speaker. The system is wireless. You can have multiple speakers set up for a multi-room sound system. After downloading the app setup was a breeze as the app recognized the speaker and went into set up. While the speaker does not support Alexa, SiriusXM, Apple Music and such. These can be streamed from the device to the speaker, provided you have an account. The audio playback is great and compares to higher priced systems. From within the app, you can set an alarm to play music at a certain time. You can set up Airplay devices. You can also set the time and time zone along with Daylight savings time. Along with an option to automatically set time via internet. The Sonos ERA 100 comes with Trueplay tuning that sets up the speaker with optimal EQ settings for the area in which it is installed at the touch of a button.

Setup difficulty varies based on what you are specifically trying to setup. Pairing and connecting it as a bluetooth device is a straight forward process no different than any other bluetooth speaker. Connecting the speaker to a streaming service is also quick and painless. Connecting to a shared folder was a little bit more tricky depending on how you how you have your WiFi, files and server setup. The speaker looks simple and elegant so it fits right in almost anywhere, I decided to put it where I would get the best sound. The sound quality is excellent and is a HUGE upgrade over all of the other speakers I own. Being to adjust the EQ settings takes the acoustics to another level. It took me a little while to get used to the different controls on the speaker itself, especially the volume. You have to use a light touch for the volume or you will quickly blast the music and burst some eardrums. Ha ha. The voice controls for Alexa worked fine without any problems, I am still trying to decide if I should completely replace my echo dot with this? Or should I keep the dot in the same room and use the sonos strictly for music and movies? That is a nice problem to have. I'm very happy with this speaker and I think I will be getting another one.

the Sonos Era100 is a very interesting speaker. Straight out of the box, there are no instructions. I plugged it in and tried connecting to Bluetooth. Would not work. There is no obvious power button anywhere. There is a user guide online...why they didn't just put it on the Set-up book I am unsure of. You are already putting this useless booklet in there, at least tell me how to connect it to my phone, also the website to the guide wasn't working during this review. (facepalm) I then decided I needed to download the app, which is required. once I got the app downloaded, it was a pretty easy process to get it connected to my phone and WIFI network. there is an update as soon as connected that took about 10 minutes to complete. I do like that you can connect another music player to the speaker with a cord.it tuned to the room I had it in. Sonos also has a dedicated radio for their players. connecting to bluetooth was easy once the app was updated and connected. a push of a button got me there. sound was great, app is fairly easy to use.

Excellent speakers I bought these to pair with my Sonos ray and mini sub, and I was blown away by the sound system it was super detailed and can easily get loud. These speakers have a lot of power behind them, bass is good and sound quality is super crisp.i would definitely get these for a small room.
