Awesome speakers, find somewhere else to purchase.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The speakers are amazing. I docked 2 stars for the place I purchased. I will no longer be purchasing products from Best Buy and I've been an elite+ member level for years. Worst customer service in all of electronics right now.

Beware of Version 80 App Update!
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These speakers are great but just a warning if you're planning on buying these now. (May 30, 2024) The new app update that they call version 80 has removed quite a few features that were available prior to updating. Check out the Sonos forums and you'll find out that a lot of users are having problems and not happy. If you read the latest reviews of their Android and iPhone apps you will see they are mostly if not all being negative. The problem is that when you update to the latest app version you can't go back to the previous one at least on iOS. With Sonos you have to use this app the setup or add new speakers. So you will be stuck with a system that is not as good as they used to be capable of. I don't know who at Sonos approved this app to be released. It is obviously an unfinished beta version. It seems like they had to release it to meet a deadline and did not even consider that many users will be negatively affected.

Worst Set Up Experience Ever!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just spent 5 hours today trying to get two Era 100 speakers to work in our family room (the speakers were a Christmas gift). In the end, it was just 5 hours of wasted time and total frustration. Years ago, we purchased a Sonos surround sound system for our basement TV. Set up was seamless and effortless, and the sound was fantastic! It was based on that experience that I asked for new Sonos speakers. Not sure what's happened to this company, but I'm sure it's not good. I will be boxing up my new Era 100 speakers and returning them to Best Buy. In the end, they turned out to be a totally awful Christmas gift!

Awesome Speaker! Changed how I listen to music!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sonos Era 100 Review The Good • Sound quality • Ability to setup stereo pair for immersive playback • Touch Controls and touch strip • Expandability within the Sonos ecosystem. • Line in Port – Not Tested • App • Bluetooth • Design Cons • Can be pricey The Review: If you're looking for a great sounding speaker that can be updated and the flexibility of adding more speakers for even greater sound, the ability to stream just about any music source and the option to create a wireless whole house system, then you want to look at this speaker. I’ve heard of Sonos throughout the years, however I never looked into it due to the cost of ownership and the fact that I never really understood how the system worked. This speaker has opened my eyes to just how amazing it is to play the same audio in any room, alone or all at the same time to create a truly immersive experience in your home. Once you understand the Sonos system and what it can do for you, you realize that while it is expensive, it offers a number of things to you all in one system that I have yet to see from any other company. Let me start by saying that while sound is subjective, I truly believe that the sound that comes out of this speaker is very balanced and sounds great with everything I play on it. The highs are crisp and clear, the mids are very balanced, and the low end is nice and full as well as punchy. I have listened to many genres from Pop, R&B, Hip Hop, Indie Rock, Alternative and Dance EDM. I’m very happy with how all of them sound and as weird as it might sound, I enjoy using this speaker because of just how good I think it makes everything sound. Note: You can add a second Ere 100 and set it up as a stereo pair and really increase the output and experience that you get from this product. The design of this speaker is also very nice. I love how the top touch controls are very responsive and very accurate at the same time. They feel almost natural and haven’t given any false input yet. The touch strip at the top of the speaker makes it easy to slide your finger up and down to make fast volume changes, and it can be very satisfying to use. The top of the speaker also has microphones so that you can use voice control for your preferred assistant (Google Home, Alexa) I personally use Alexa to control lights and listen to weather updates and it works great even when listening to music at higher volume, it can detect my voice. For those wondering you can disable the microphones via a toggle switch on the back of the speaker. There is also a button for Bluetooth on the back if you’re looking to quickly connect a device outside of the Sonos system. Good Job with the design of the controls Sonos. Now let's talk about the feature that I believe makes Sonos so special. I have always wanted to be able to play music throughout my house all at once. To be able to walk around the house and hear the same content as you walk through the rooms, there is just something so magical about that to me. The Sonos app makes all of this possible. Its super easy to group and ungroup speakers together and the controls in the app allow you to control the volume of each speaker or group in each room giving you total control of the over sound. Oh and another cool thing about the App volume control is when you have a group setup and adjust the main volume slider, it adjusts all volumes in that group simultaneously, keeping each rooms respective volume setting proportionate to how they were set. Like magic!! The other nice thing to know when buying into this ecosystem is that you can always grow your system to suit your needs as time goes on. This is the other feature that made me choose to buy into Sonos. Something that a lot of people have been asking for was a line-in port on a next gen speaker and Sonos has delivered. Now I can't comment on this feature on the Era 100, due to the separate dongle that is needed to allow you to use the speaker to connect a non-Sonos audio device into the system was not available at the time of this review. I have however used this feature on another Sonos product and the experience with that was good. I am being told this should be the same on the Era 100. The only time there was a slight delay, was when you group the line in device with other speakers, because the system has to process the analog signal on the line-in and send it to the other speakers in your system. But honestly this isn’t a big deal at all unless you are trying to use content with zero latency. The fact that you can take a turntable and plug it into this speaker and then broadcast that audio throughout your home is really cool. The Sonos App is by far one of the best music/audio source interfaces that I have ever used. You can literally add multiple streaming apps on top of multiple streaming apps. If you have Spotify or other streaming accounts and other family members have their own, you can add them too! You will be able to select the account you want to listen to from the music source page. The app also has many many features that allow fine control of your products and has been really enjoyable to use. It makes the speaker that much better having a good interface for using it. I will say that using this speaker for the past week has been a really good experience. So much so that I went out an purchased an Arc Soundbar, Sub and One SL’s for surrounds. That’s a whole different review but just know that I wasn’t planning on being this impressed and by falling in love with the Sound Quality and the Operation of this speaker. It’s a rare thing but I can whole heartily recommend this speaker and any other product from Sonos. Give yourself time to learn the ins and outs and you will be very happy. The only downside I could think of is that the speaker may not be in everyone’s budget. The products are pricey but for once, I believe you get what you pay for.

Bad choice
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was told by tech support the speakers would pair with the Sonos play sound bar and would be able to use as surround sound speakers. The speakers break up sound and crackle constantly.

Posted .Thank you for sharing your experience. We're deeply sorry to hear about the challenges you're facing with pairing your Era 100 speakers to your Sonos Play soundbar and the resulting audio issues like crackling. That is certainly not the performance we aim to deliver, and we apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.
To help resolve this issue, I recommend the following troubleshooting steps:
Ensure Wi-Fi Connection Stability: Audio interruptions are often related to Wi-Fi interference. Restart your router and ensure all Sonos devices are connected to a strong and stable network. If your speakers are positioned far from the router, try moving them closer.
Check Firmware Updates: Make sure both the Sonos app and all devices are running the latest software updates. Updates often include fixes for connectivity issues.
Re-establish Surround Setup: Try removing and re-adding the Era 100s as surround speakers. In the Sonos app, go to Settings > System > Room Settings > [Room with your soundbar] > Surrounds > Remove Surrounds. Then follow the steps to re-add them.
Adjust Surround Settings: You can also try adjusting the surround sound settings under the same menu. Lowering the surround volume or switching to “Full” audio instead of “Ambient” might improve the sound quality.
If these steps don't fully resolve the issue, please reach out to us again at support.sonos.com. We're committed to ensuring your system works seamlessly and regret any frustration you've encountered. Thank you for your patience as we work toward a solution.

Wish I Had Returned It
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Era 100 was purchased as an auxiliary speaker to the Sonos Beam in an adjacent room. This Era 100 purchase was one of the worst tech purchases I have ever made: The speaker connects intermittently, lacks depth, monotonic and dialog is all but unintelligible. Sonos' recent roll out of a half-baked, buggy app makes this purchase even more regretable. I wish I would have returned it during the return period

I'm impressed...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sonos Era 100 is cleanly packaged and a seemingly rugged unit. Setup and going through the different features seemed pretty intuitive. I appreciate that, seeing as how I'm new to the Sonos platform. The first thing to do was to load the Sonos app. This would then provide tips/tutorials for how to set things up. Easy-peazy. During the setup, I used the Trueplay function so that the Era 100 would both project and listen to sound in order to create a more positive listening experience based upon the setting you’ve place it in. I can only imagine that, for example, the sound reproduction would have different needs in a room with hardwood floors, as opposed to a room with carpet…or a lot of upholstered furniture. Anyway, it was cool to sit back and let it do its thing. I then had fun adding services which I already have subscriptions to — Apple Music, Amazon Music, and SiriusXM. This was very easy to do (again, using the Sonos app), as well as enabling Alexa voice functions and commands. I’m loving this speaker! There is an exhaustive list of services that can be added. All the popular ones, as well as sites I have never heard of. The connectivity of this speaker to different sources pretty much covers the gamut — WiFi, bluetooth, direct line, and Apple AirPlay. I’m not sure that I’ll be using anything but WiFi (I have an android phone), and that’s fine with me. But the others are there if I ever need them. Anyway, I'm loving the sound production of the Era 100 -- especially at low volume. It's impressive that a unit this small can continue to provide a punch at a low level. I would encourage anyone to visit the Sonos website and see the virtual, 3D, explosive view of the construction of this beautiful unit. It’s no wonder the sound is so amazing. I’m glad that I started my Sonos journey with this new generation of speakers! Makes me wish I had two of these to fill our rather large living room more fully… maybe for Christmas? However, I need to say that having just the one Era 100 provides impressive sound to be enjoyed in a very large (20’ x 24’) room. You will not be disappointed.
