Sonos Era 100 speaker
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s ok as it is a familiar item for the Sonos family. It is not exciting on its own and I would not keep this as a stand alone product. To be fair, it is supposed to be utilized as surround speakers or possibly as a stereo pair.

Meh
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Set up in surround was not as easy as they would make you think. System is glitchy. The bass gets very flat not punchy. The only thing big about this speaker is the the price! If you are in the sonos ecosphere and need a small bookshelf, save your money and buy an old SL1

Buyer beware of this retailer
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Buyer beware, I was encouraged to purchase my 2k worth of equipment with the price match guarantee before the holidays and when they went on sale I wasn’t credited, so I called and because it was technically the 61st day that I called on they refused the credit I was promised. $150 and that was after opening the credit card as well.

Posted .To improve the sound quality of your Sonos Era 100, consider tuning the speaker through the Sonos app using the Trueplay feature. This will optimize the sound based on your room's acoustics, providing a more accurate and pleasing audio experience. It might help replicate the sound you enjoyed in the store.

No low or midrange
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for some thing that would enhance low in mid range sounds. This did not meet those requirements. The sounds cannot be adjusted high enough to really make good left and right speakers.

Awesome speakers, find somewhere else to purchase.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The speakers are amazing. I docked 2 stars for the place I purchased. I will no longer be purchasing products from Best Buy and I've been an elite+ member level for years. Worst customer service in all of electronics right now.

I wanted to like it
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased the era 100 after hearing great reviews about it and enjoyed it as a bathroom speaker for about 2 days before the issues started. The random dropping of songs streaming from either Apple Music or Tidal was my breaking point with the product and brand. I did reset after reset, deleted the app redownloaded the app, disconnected and connected wifi to no avail. Finally returned to avoind more headaches.

Beware of Version 80 App Update!
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These speakers are great but just a warning if you're planning on buying these now. (May 30, 2024) The new app update that they call version 80 has removed quite a few features that were available prior to updating. Check out the Sonos forums and you'll find out that a lot of users are having problems and not happy. If you read the latest reviews of their Android and iPhone apps you will see they are mostly if not all being negative. The problem is that when you update to the latest app version you can't go back to the previous one at least on iOS. With Sonos you have to use this app the setup or add new speakers. So you will be stuck with a system that is not as good as they used to be capable of. I don't know who at Sonos approved this app to be released. It is obviously an unfinished beta version. It seems like they had to release it to meet a deadline and did not even consider that many users will be negatively affected.

Disappointed for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Absolutely terrible. They worked great for about 2 months. Now the volume will automatically turn down for about 15 to 20 seconds at a time every minute anytime I have more than one speaker playing it prevents the purpose of me upgrading my speakers to have music playing in my whole house at once.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really complicated to set up, really anti intuitive, and I havent yet been able to set up alexa. I actually tried to return this item, but didnt realize best buy has such short return periods, really disapointing. Im trying to sell this speaker as it really is anoying in every sense to operate and setup It might sound nice, but the app sucks and it is not easy to operate

Worst Set Up Experience Ever!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just spent 5 hours today trying to get two Era 100 speakers to work in our family room (the speakers were a Christmas gift). In the end, it was just 5 hours of wasted time and total frustration. Years ago, we purchased a Sonos surround sound system for our basement TV. Set up was seamless and effortless, and the sound was fantastic! It was based on that experience that I asked for new Sonos speakers. Not sure what's happened to this company, but I'm sure it's not good. I will be boxing up my new Era 100 speakers and returning them to Best Buy. In the end, they turned out to be a totally awful Christmas gift!

Awesome Speaker! Changed how I listen to music!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sonos Era 100 Review The Good • Sound quality • Ability to setup stereo pair for immersive playback • Touch Controls and touch strip • Expandability within the Sonos ecosystem. • Line in Port – Not Tested • App • Bluetooth • Design Cons • Can be pricey The Review: If you're looking for a great sounding speaker that can be updated and the flexibility of adding more speakers for even greater sound, the ability to stream just about any music source and the option to create a wireless whole house system, then you want to look at this speaker. I’ve heard of Sonos throughout the years, however I never looked into it due to the cost of ownership and the fact that I never really understood how the system worked. This speaker has opened my eyes to just how amazing it is to play the same audio in any room, alone or all at the same time to create a truly immersive experience in your home. Once you understand the Sonos system and what it can do for you, you realize that while it is expensive, it offers a number of things to you all in one system that I have yet to see from any other company. Let me start by saying that while sound is subjective, I truly believe that the sound that comes out of this speaker is very balanced and sounds great with everything I play on it. The highs are crisp and clear, the mids are very balanced, and the low end is nice and full as well as punchy. I have listened to many genres from Pop, R&B, Hip Hop, Indie Rock, Alternative and Dance EDM. I’m very happy with how all of them sound and as weird as it might sound, I enjoy using this speaker because of just how good I think it makes everything sound. Note: You can add a second Ere 100 and set it up as a stereo pair and really increase the output and experience that you get from this product. The design of this speaker is also very nice. I love how the top touch controls are very responsive and very accurate at the same time. They feel almost natural and haven’t given any false input yet. The touch strip at the top of the speaker makes it easy to slide your finger up and down to make fast volume changes, and it can be very satisfying to use. The top of the speaker also has microphones so that you can use voice control for your preferred assistant (Google Home, Alexa) I personally use Alexa to control lights and listen to weather updates and it works great even when listening to music at higher volume, it can detect my voice. For those wondering you can disable the microphones via a toggle switch on the back of the speaker. There is also a button for Bluetooth on the back if you’re looking to quickly connect a device outside of the Sonos system. Good Job with the design of the controls Sonos. Now let's talk about the feature that I believe makes Sonos so special. I have always wanted to be able to play music throughout my house all at once. To be able to walk around the house and hear the same content as you walk through the rooms, there is just something so magical about that to me. The Sonos app makes all of this possible. Its super easy to group and ungroup speakers together and the controls in the app allow you to control the volume of each speaker or group in each room giving you total control of the over sound. Oh and another cool thing about the App volume control is when you have a group setup and adjust the main volume slider, it adjusts all volumes in that group simultaneously, keeping each rooms respective volume setting proportionate to how they were set. Like magic!! The other nice thing to know when buying into this ecosystem is that you can always grow your system to suit your needs as time goes on. This is the other feature that made me choose to buy into Sonos. Something that a lot of people have been asking for was a line-in port on a next gen speaker and Sonos has delivered. Now I can't comment on this feature on the Era 100, due to the separate dongle that is needed to allow you to use the speaker to connect a non-Sonos audio device into the system was not available at the time of this review. I have however used this feature on another Sonos product and the experience with that was good. I am being told this should be the same on the Era 100. The only time there was a slight delay, was when you group the line in device with other speakers, because the system has to process the analog signal on the line-in and send it to the other speakers in your system. But honestly this isn’t a big deal at all unless you are trying to use content with zero latency. The fact that you can take a turntable and plug it into this speaker and then broadcast that audio throughout your home is really cool. The Sonos App is by far one of the best music/audio source interfaces that I have ever used. You can literally add multiple streaming apps on top of multiple streaming apps. If you have Spotify or other streaming accounts and other family members have their own, you can add them too! You will be able to select the account you want to listen to from the music source page. The app also has many many features that allow fine control of your products and has been really enjoyable to use. It makes the speaker that much better having a good interface for using it. I will say that using this speaker for the past week has been a really good experience. So much so that I went out an purchased an Arc Soundbar, Sub and One SL’s for surrounds. That’s a whole different review but just know that I wasn’t planning on being this impressed and by falling in love with the Sound Quality and the Operation of this speaker. It’s a rare thing but I can whole heartily recommend this speaker and any other product from Sonos. Give yourself time to learn the ins and outs and you will be very happy. The only downside I could think of is that the speaker may not be in everyone’s budget. The products are pricey but for once, I believe you get what you pay for.
