The sound is OK. Could have chosen a better speaker for the price but not with Sonos interoperability.

It's disappointing that even with help from IT professionals, the setup process didn't work as expected and led to further issues with the Sonos app. If there's anything we can do to assist you further or if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact our support team. The Sonos Era 100 is cleanly packaged and a seemingly rugged unit. Setup and going through the different features seemed pretty intuitive. I appreciate that, seeing as how I'm new to the Sonos platform. The first thing to do was to load the Sonos app. This would then provide tips/tutorials for how to set things up. Easy-peazy. During the setup, I used the Trueplay function so that the Era 100 would both project and listen to sound in order to create a more positive listening experience based upon the setting you’ve place it in. I can only imagine that, for example, the sound reproduction would have different needs in a room with hardwood floors, as opposed to a room with carpet…or a lot of upholstered furniture. Anyway, it was cool to sit back and let it do its thing. I then had fun adding services which I already have subscriptions to — Apple Music, Amazon Music, and SiriusXM. This was very easy to do (again, using the Sonos app), as well as enabling Alexa voice functions and commands. I’m loving this speaker! There is an exhaustive list of services that can be added. All the popular ones, as well as sites I have never heard of. The connectivity of this speaker to different sources pretty much covers the gamut — WiFi, bluetooth, direct line, and Apple AirPlay. I’m not sure that I’ll be using anything but WiFi (I have an android phone), and that’s fine with me. But the others are there if I ever need them. Anyway, I'm loving the sound production of the Era 100 -- especially at low volume. It's impressive that a unit this small can continue to provide a punch at a low level. I would encourage anyone to visit the Sonos website and see the virtual, 3D, explosive view of the construction of this beautiful unit. It’s no wonder the sound is so amazing. I’m glad that I started my Sonos journey with this new generation of speakers! Makes me wish I had two of these to fill our rather large living room more fully… maybe for Christmas? However, I need to say that having just the one Era 100 provides impressive sound to be enjoyed in a very large (20’ x 24’) room. You will not be disappointed.

Era 100 was purchased as an auxiliary speaker to the Sonos Beam in an adjacent room. This Era 100 purchase was one of the worst tech purchases I have ever made: The speaker connects intermittently, lacks depth, monotonic and dialog is all but unintelligible. Sonos' recent roll out of a half-baked, buggy app makes this purchase even more regretable. I wish I would have returned it during the return period

Thank you for sharing your experience. We're deeply sorry to hear about the challenges you're facing with pairing your Era 100 speakers to your Sonos Play soundbar and the resulting audio issues like crackling. That is certainly not the performance we aim to deliver, and we apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.

To help resolve this issue, I recommend the following troubleshooting steps:

Ensure Wi-Fi Connection Stability: Audio interruptions are often related to Wi-Fi interference. Restart your router and ensure all Sonos devices are connected to a strong and stable network. If your speakers are positioned far from the router, try moving them closer.

Check Firmware Updates: Make sure both the Sonos app and all devices are running the latest software updates. Updates often include fixes for connectivity issues.

Re-establish Surround Setup: Try removing and re-adding the Era 100s as surround speakers. In the Sonos app, go to Settings > System > Room Settings > [Room with your soundbar] > Surrounds > Remove Surrounds. Then follow the steps to re-add them.

Adjust Surround Settings: You can also try adjusting the surround sound settings under the same menu. Lowering the surround volume or switching to “Full” audio instead of “Ambient” might improve the sound quality.

If these steps don't fully resolve the issue, please reach out to us again at support.sonos.com. We're committed to ensuring your system works seamlessly and regret any frustration you've encountered. Thank you for your patience as we work toward a solution. john.milton

Connected to TV and sonos sound bar. They cut in and out a lot and every time you turn the TV on or switch between apps on the TV you have to adjust the volume on your phone. Kind of regretting buying these considering the price.

Sonos: (1) Doesn't distinguish between room and device names, which causes integration problems with Google and other voice controls; (2) Doesn't allow speaker groupings between a stereo pair and a sound bar, so you can't easily tell the system which speakers you want to use; (3) Refuses to play TV audio only through stereo pair; insists on some sound through sound bar; (4) fails to inform you that its bluetooth equipped speakers like these don't in fact support phone calls.

      Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble with the setup and WiFi connectivity of your Sonos speaker. It's frustrating when your other devices are working seamlessly, and your Sonos isn't. Let's figure this out!

      Troubleshooting Steps:

      Check Your Network:
Open the Sonos app and head to Settings -> System -> About My System. Find the 'Network Matrix'. Look for the 'WM:' numbers next to your Sonos speaker. Lower numbers (like 0 or 1) indicate good signal strength, while higher numbers suggest interference.
      Restart Router and Speaker:
Unplug your router for 30 seconds, then plug it back in. While it's restarting, unplug your Sonos speaker. Once the router is fully back online, plug in your Sonos speaker.
      Placement and Interference:
Are there any large metal objects, microwaves, or other wireless devices near your Sonos speaker? These can create interference. Experiment by temporarily relocating your speaker away from these.

      I hope this helps! john.milton

It’s really unfortunate to hear about your experience with the Era 100 speakers and Sonos customer service. Spending hours trying to troubleshoot a product, only to be told that a major update will take months, is incredibly frustrating, especially after investing in a premium product. Reliable customer support and a product that works seamlessly out of the box are essential, and it’s disappointing those expectations were not met. We hope to win you over as a customer in the future as we take your invaluable feedback to make our products and services even better. john.milton
