    Don't Buy SONOS

Zero ratings. I have been a loyal Sonos customer for over 20 years. Their new products are horrible. The new APP is a disaster as the speakers constantly disappear and drop music. Buy it if you like to factory reset all your speakers every time you want to use them. Their executives keep getting fired or quitting. No relief in sight.

Meh … Fives or Yamaha monitors sound better

Didn’t love the sound. Didn’t think the spatial aspect sounded all that impressive. I have Klipsch Fivers and also Yamaha HS7, those are far superior. Obviously a single speaker is not like 2 studio monitors though costs are comparable.

Didn't Give Me Any Sense of Surround Sound

Could not get any sense of surround sound with these. If you use the volume slider on the top of the speaker it turns the sound up for the whole system, thus drowning out the surrounds. Maybe these don't work well in a large, open-concept room. Swapped the Sonos system for Sony and I'm much happier.

Very disappointing. Mated with Arc soundbar and sub gen 2. Surround speakers are so low you really don't hear them. Not worth $900 plus. Returned. The Arc and Gen 2 sub sound just dandy together.

    Bad Amp Issue - Beware

Had bad amp on arrival. Started sending horrific static pops to entire Sonos arc system. Contacted Sonos who said this was a known issue. I returned both and kept my Sonos ones as rear surround. Too expensive for a product to have wide spread defects like this.

      Hi there,

I completely understand your frustration with getting the surround sound working on your Era 300s. Setting up surround sound can sometimes be tricky, but I'm determined to help you get it working perfectly!

      Troubleshooting Steps:

      Check Surround Settings:

Open the Sonos app and go to Settings -> System -> [Your Room Name] -> Surround Audio.
      Ensure "Surrounds" is enabled.
Double-check that your Era 300s are correctly identified under the "Surrounds" section.
      Source Material:

Make sure you're playing content that supports surround sound (e.g., Dolby Digital 5.1 or Dolby Atmos from a streaming service or Blu-ray player).
      Network Connection:

In the Sonos app, go to Settings -> System -> About My System. Find the 'Network Matrix'. Look for the 'WM:' numbers next to your soundbar and Era 300s. Lower numbers (like 0 or 1) are ideal, while higher numbers might indicate interference which could affect surround sound quality.
      Speaker Placement and Room Acoustics:

Try repositioning your Era 300s further away from walls and reflective surfaces if they're too close.

      I hope this helps!

(Please note: When setting Era 300s up for surround, the front firing speakers will no longer play unless disconnected from the surround setup.) john.milton

The company has removed so much functionality when they rushed out an update to the app, and now are avoiding ALL means of contact. I just bought this 4 months ago and mine is a $450 brick. Worhtless.

The Sonos Era 300 is a premium speaker that delivers premium sound. No matter what is written in these reviews, words will not do the Era 300 justice. Out of the box, the unit is significantly different from the atypical portable Bluetooth speaker, a wall-mount unit, or even a stand alone sound bar. The design reminds me of a wave. This wave design houses four tweeters and two midrange speakers. These speakers are ergonomically placed within the housing in a manner that amplifies the Era’s ability to bathe the entire space in sound. Quick comment about the box itself. The package usually is just a means of protecting and transporting the goods within and then customarily discarded. I would believe most will keep and repurpose this container. The box is substantially strong and even has a neat locking system. All or most of the materials used in the fabrication of the product box as well as the Sonos Era 300, are made from sustainable materials. When ordering, I really thought this speaker was smaller and more like a portable Bluetooth speaker. Upon receiving it, I realized that the Era 300 is like a prized piece of art that should be proudly displayed in your home or office away from harm. The Era 300 is actually heavy and a little bit bigger and broader than an average toaster. When setting up, you need to download the app to connect to Wi-Fi. Sonos did include Bluetooth connectivity, but the Wi-fi connection will deliver the strongest resource for clarity and sound quality. There is an ability to connect via a line dongle with an additional purchase of that dongle that I probably will not be doing myself since there is no need with my connected devices. Even though this is a standalone device, there are means to add it to a group. However, the pairable partners are limited to other Sonos devices. Once more, I cannot stress enough that this device alone is enough for most spaces. The acoustic output is impressive. We have a modest sized home, and this speaker will rattle the walls in the neighbor’s house. Part of the setup is the cool Trueplay feature, where the device will literally tweak its equalizer outputs to provide the most optimal sound for the area it is in. The touch controls are quite friendly, providing a pleasing haptic sound response. The coolest part by far, though, is Sonos’ commitment to our privacy with the ability to turn off the listening aspect of the unit. Again, I cannot write enough nice things about the Sonos Era 300 and highly recommend this unit. This device will immerse your listening environment in crystal clear audio output.
